With everything going out of the world and terrorism and hamas and other terrorist groups around the world and was happy that our southern border it is lack of security. We all need to do our job and are part to keep people safe. As a mayor thats why i recently formed the Republican Mayors Association because i believe we need more republican mayors at the local level focusing on issues of Public Safety and prioritizing Public Safety. There is a lot of challenges facing americans particularly americans who live in our cities, 80 of americans live in a city and i do believe add the border to the list of things that are currently challenging our security in this country. David particularly if you live as close as folks in dallas, we see the spinoff in places like new york and far away from the border where the situation is getting worse. In addition to the overall numbers, 269,735 encounters, migrant encounters last month that is the highest ever by far on record and 169 number does not sound like a lot but those are the migrants at cayman on the terror watch list, two of whom from iran last week. This is vital to National Security, correct . Yes it is obviously a National Security concern. We have to take seriously securing the southern border we have to take seriously what our friends in israel are dealing with right now with hamas, these things are absolutely critical to americans National Security. But we also have an issue with keeping people safe just from street crime in this country. Im very concerned as a mayor and one of the top ten cities in america with just how Dangerous Things have become in some of our cities from street level violent crime. We have our hands full in this country and i believe we need more law and order focus, Public Safety prioritizing mayors and our cities across this country and i do believe we need the president of the United States who is going to prioritize Border Security and i believe we need to stand with our allies in israel right now and we need to do everything to protect americans. David let me talk briefly about the economy. Im sure thats another reason you came over to the republican side from the democrat side. Family income particularly among minorities has gone down. We all know what its like to shop, Family Income among minorities down 1. 6 for black families, down 1. 1 for hispanic families, for all of the talk that you hear among the Democratic Party about being the best party for minorities in this country has worked exactly the opposite since President Biden came into power. Is that one reason you switch from democrat to republican. Is one of the main reasons i switched from democrat to republican. I was a democrat for 30 years, i know better than just about anybody whats going on in that party at this point. It wasnt always this way. I think its gotten worse in recent years but there is a mentality the dominant mentality i would say in the party of the Democrat Party and that is an idea that tax revenue belongs to the government and it is theirs and we will determine how much of the private citizens money we will let them keep. It is a backward way of looking at things. Ive been fighting since i became mayor over four years ago against the mentality and trying to cut taxes and we successfully lowered the tax rate every year ive been in office but its always a fight every year it is a fight in ideological fight and ive said very recently what we cannot do is on top of inflation and Rising Interest Rates add rising and increasing taxes on people right now, the last thing the people particularly workingclass families, families, people of color made this argument. In dallas its actually people of color black and hispanic voters have been the most outspoken in the most in favor of cutting taxes, they cannot handle the property taxes on top of the double whammy of high inflation and high Interest Rates, they need the relief.
