When you look at tesla, my biggest take away is the consumer is very price conscious, theyre scaling back on big particular the et item purchases. Weve seen that across the board whether you look at amazons prime day or you look at target or walmarts earnings, we continue to see a consumer that is tightening their belt buckle. When it comes to tesla, tesla has been an outperformer, i shouldnt say always, over the last several years theyve been an outperformer, they seem to be able to overdeliver. This is the first time they fell short. They really struggled here. And theres really no legitimate competition in the ev space right now. So what does that say about evs overall . Price cuts work to a certain extent and then theyre no longer effective and thats what youre seeing with tesla. With netflix, i really was assuming that they were going to overdeliver. When you look at netflix, one of the biggest criticisms of netflix over the last several years has been their content spend. We know the writers and actors have been on strike. But given where Interest Rates are and given supply chain issues and cost of construction, new families, multifamily starts are down 31 year over year. The journal did a piece that the expectations for recession are going down but youre still feeling like the impact of higher rates will take effect. Definitely. Maria what about on earnings, mark . You have all this corporate debt that has to be refinanced as well and thats going to continue to erode earnings, its going to continue to erode margins. Thats certainly a problem. You have a consumer who is continuing to weaken and it will be really interesting tomorrow American Express comes out. That will give us a good read on the high end consumer. Capital one normally gives us a good read on lower income consumers. But it will be ring to see what the will be interesting to see what chargeoff and therein question and answer rates are delinquency rates are at American Express. Youre seeing a consumer over their skis with regard to spending right now. You haveen mo enormous levels of consumer debt, Interest Rates are going higher and you have this erroneous reason scy bias shortterm memory, where all they think is normal is zero be percent fed funds rate, quantitative easing is normal, deficit spending is normal. Its not normal. We are in the process of kind of unwinding that mess that weve created and there is going to be a new normal over the course of the next decade and beyond.
