President trump and his administration are making it clear that they have had enough of the lefts terroristic tactics. The president announcing plans in the white house east room to activate more federal officers to help fight rising crime in democratrun chicago and albuquerque. This bloodshed must end, this bloodshed will end. Today im announcing a surge of federal Law Enforcement into American Communities plagued by Violent Crime. For decades politicians running many of our nations major cities have put the interests of criminals above the rights of lawabiding is citizens. These same politicians have now embraced the farleft movement to break up our Police Departments causing Violent Crime in cities to spiral, and i mean spiral seriously out of control. That is why we are here today, to answer the pleas of those crying for justice and crying for help. For those people in chicago and other cities where well be, help is on its way. Surveillance camera shows the chilling scene as the gunfire erupted. [gunfire] lou mayor lightfoot has repeatedly said she does not want federal officers and agents on the streets of chicago, but she cant control them or chooses not to. The president of Chicagos Police union says it seems as if lightfoot is, quote literally running the titanic into an iceberg intentionally. End quote. In portland 38 Law Enforcement officers were docked by the radical mob, federal Law Enforcement. Thats now caused 55 straight nights of violent protests. Federal officers there having to clear the streets again last night. Anarchists trying to destroy the federal courthouse. Dhs chief chad wolf remains defiant and assures the people of portland that in the face of calls from local and state radical dem leaders, the feds will not be leaving. If you are a violent rioter looking to inflict damage to federal property or Law Enforcement officers, you need to find another line of work. We will not retreat, we will continue to take the appropriate action to protect our facilities and our Law Enforcement officers. They are there to defend a black lives street mural outside of trump tower on fifth avenue. Black lives matter. A similar black lives matter mural in redwood city being scrubbed away after another resident asked for a make America Great again 2020 mural to be painted on the very same street. It is, after all, a country of free speech. The city has now chosen to remove that mural, saying it poses a Public Safety issue. The radical dems cant seem to comprehend the vast majority of americans dont support any push to redefine our nation or support ideas that america is unfair. Those americans are beginning to push back. Well, as the radical leftist mob terrorizes the streets of this country, the citizens of the country are pushing to, rushing to gun stores, exercising their Second Amendment rights with gusto. The National Shooting Sports Foundation reports 87 of retailers have seen an increase in firearm sales in the First Six Months of this year. 92 of those retailers with an increase in the sale of ammunition. Overall, sales of firearms up 95 compared to a yearing ago, double a year ago. Ammunition sales up more than double, up 139 . So this has got to be stopped. I think President Trump is really, really stepping up here, and there are ways that he can do it. I think theres authority to do it. And, you know, hes making the right call and the first step the, of course, is getting those federal officers in these places where theres violence run amok. Lou well, we all know that he has the authority. The fact is he has the responsibility. But the, these mayors and these local City Councils that are radical democrat governed, this is atrocious, what they are doing to their residents and what theyre doing to their communities. Its i dont understand, ive never seen anything like this in my tenure as a journalist covering politics and economics. Right. And this, lou, this is going to cascade. So you have people actually fleeing these places that are fomenting and housing violence to happen. So people are leaving. Youre going to have businesses shuttering because Insurance Companies cant mark the rate. They cant make a real assessment of what the losses are going to be. Rights are being abrogated, and its basically all being done not for enhancement of rights, but actually to take away rights and burn down the system of government that we have built, the Economic System and the societal system which makes us americans. And we have members of congress who actually support and make that their cause celebre. So this has got to come to an end, and the lou nancy pelosi your speaker, nancy pelosi, actually encouraging this with every, you know, every expression that she utters about what is happening in this country. She has become radicalized. Its truly extraordinary. But the real issue for the country right now is the choice coming up in november. Joe biden says that he wants to redefine Police Departments, policing, make it into some sort of social work if he wants. We thought we had social workers already on the case. And remove Police Officers. This is, this is bizarre, it is also, to me, an absolute clear choice between a president who stands up for his responsibilities and a challenger who is, who wants to defund the Police Departments, wants to go along with the radical, most extreme elements of the. [laughter] in this country. Of the left in this country. No, youre exactly right. And when the president said joe biden is incompetent, this is one of the reasons. Hes going to be coopted by these farlefted radicals who dont want to preserve peace. They dont want safety and security. See, we in order to fully implement and enjoy liberty, you have to be able to exercise your rights. First of all, welcome bob, greae you. Good seeing you, lou. Lou the left in this country is moving, to me, perilously far from the idea of opposition to policies and practices that they dont like, reform if they wish, but theyve moved from resistance, i mean, theyre moving right up to the edge of insurrection, are they not . No, they are. Theyre trying to trade on the moral authority of the civil rights movement. During the civil rights movement, we had standards of both character and behavior as to who could participate in the marches. And when people came in and were disruptive or had their own agenda, we expelled them. In the beginning i think they were Peaceful Protesters, but the moment those anarchists began to intermingle with them and the fact that the Peaceful Protesters refuse to challenge some of these anarchists, it means theyre, therefore, complicit in the actions that theyre taking. And so, and i think what, unfortunately, with this assault on the police, its resulted in nullification which means police are not enforcing the laws aggressively in black communities which results in this huge spike in violent deaths in these communities. There were 26 People Killed in these riots, 24 were black, and 14 unarmed blacks killed by police in a year and so this is, they are not about social justice for blacks. It is about using the black community and the conditions of our racial past, appropriating it so the left can use it to provoke insurrection in our cities. In my Old Neighborhood in west philadelphia, they burned down a walmart. They also burned down a huge food market that employed exoffenders. How do you justify the destruction in the black community in the name of promoting social justice for blacks . Thats ludicrous. But it must stop lou [inaudible] theyve desecrated lou im sorry, bob. The 54th regiment in boston, theyve knocked down the statue of Frederick Douglass in rochester, new york. Is dr. Kings statue next . Its not about lou its social justice. Lou i cant believe there isnt somebody in that mob who, the people who are doing this. My god, isnt there anyone who understands the history, the importance of those the figures in when you mentioned Frederick Douglass, when you mentioned Martin Luther king, youre right. I mean, that is under the logical progression, is it not . Lets talk about something else, and thats been the progress in this country for black americans. And if we could, id like to start with black College Education in this country which has moved up to just about 40 in the past decade. Could we see that, please . The full screen of that . To show . This is 20102019. Black College Education, age 25 and older with a bachelors degree or higher. It has moved from 19. 8 in 2010 to 26. 1 in last year. This is extraordinary progress. Id like to also show you americans completing High School Degree and college and compare to other ethnicities and races. This is from from 2019. Asians, 90. 1 . Whites, 88. 1 . All races, 87. 5 . Blacks, 84. 9 . Hispanics, 69 . Blacks are, their middle class is enlarging at extraordinary rates, and it is something that i believe blacks should be talking about, they should be proud of it. I can tell you that as an american, im awfully proud that this country is seeing this kind of progress across our nation. It should be, it should be better, there is no doubt. It is a remarkable improvement that deserves comment and observance from the leaders of all of these radical dem actions in these democraticled cities. You see, but whats missing here is that the biggest income gap in america is not between whites and blacks, its between blacks and blacks. So the figures you gave, yeah, there are certain many blacks are progressing. But a lot of those same blacks are operating, running these cities where low income blacks are failing. And, but racism, institutional racism is used to justify why blacks are failing in systems run by their own people. Lou a very important point that you make. And bob was just making the very important point that the great disparity e in incomes is, in some cases, in the communities in which blacks have greater variance in incomes with blacks. Your thoughts on that. Yeah. Youve got to understand 2 out of 10 whites with College Education work for the government. 6 out of 10 blacks with a College Education works for the government. 70 cents of all of the 22 trillion in the last 50 years have gone to these professional service providers, the unions that serve the poor. So you have structural disincentives for poverty to be relieved, and many of the blacks are running those same systems. And so rather than confront this and begin to explain to the public how middle class blacks are pursuing the principles of our, of our founders enabled them to rise, but they have a different set of expectations for the poor. 1619 project says that these kids should not be competing, that what they need is Government Programs when many of the middle class accomplishments, they did it by pursuing independence and selfsufficiency. Yet we are told that a different set of rules should apply for low income blacks and that they should wait for reparations or they should be discouraged from engaging in competitiveness because thats racism. Theyre being told that the Nuclear Family is racist. Theyre being told that capitalism is suspect and, therefore, shouldnt yet they live in a capitalist system, they live in Nuclear Family, they live in safe neighborhoods. But what theyre advocating for low income blacks is a whole different set of behaviors and expectations. And thats where the real crime is. But rather than explaining why poor blacks are failing in cities run by their own people, they use institutional racism or vilification of police as a means of excusing, prevenning people from asking preventing people from asking those critical questions. We dont have a race problem in america, we have a disparity in economic interests, and we need to begin to pursue different policies that helps low income people. We at 1776 are doing exactly that, going into those low income neighborhoods. If you say 70 of the families have children that are being raised in singleparent households, it means that 30 are not. So you have 30 of families in low income communities who are achieving against the odds. We at the Woodson Center go in and find out what is the secret of their success and mobilize the people in those communities to engage in, become agents of their own public. But its dangerous when 1619 and middle class backs tell low income blacks that they are, that they have an exemption to personal responsibility because of institutional racism. And so you have two sets of rules. One for the middle class, that they news the american system and values to elevate themselves, but for low incomes you have to wait for reparations or white people as a condition for you to change. It means they are exempt if any responsibility of fixing the problems of the people they got elected to serve. Bigots to are not the worst problem low income face, it is traitors, people who got elected to serve them and are not serving them, but want to deflect to institutional racism. Race has to come off the table in order for us to achieve success in america. Lou instead of focusing on what they want to call institutional or systemic racism, they might be more candid about the fact what theyre propagating is institutional dependency which assures those 6 in 10 who have government jobs that they will have at least the we text of the pretext of a reason to be in those jobs a decade or two down the road. It really your analysis, i think, is mindopening. I certainly hope it will be for all our audience and for the country as we continue to listen to bob woodsons perspectives on all of the, what we witness now going on in our communities, many of them, and what must be done to deal with them in a policy sense and also in a very human seasons. Here he is. Today my administration reached a historic agreement with pfizer to produce and deliver 100 million doses of their vaccine immediately following its approval. Hopefully, the approval process will go very quickly, and we think we have a winner there. We also think we have other companies right behind that are doing very well on the vaccines. Long ahead of schedule. As part of operation warp speed, this agreement will also insure that we receive an additional 500 million doses shortly thereafter. This is another crucial step in our effort to develop, manufacture and distribute a vaccine in recordbreaking time, really a very small fraction of the time based on previous schedules. I want to thank the fda, i want to thank everybody involved. Its been an incredible process. As discussed yesterday, the china virus poses the greatest threat to our Senior Citizens, as we all know. The median age for those who die from the virus is 78 years old, and nearly half of the deaths have occurred among those living in Nursing Homes or longterm care facilities. Thats really something. In other words, approximately half of the fatalities have occurred among less than 1 of the u. S. Population. So think of that, less than 1 , half of the fatalities. So we know what to look for. From the beginning we have made it our top priority to shelter our seniors. In early march we announced guidelines suspending all medicallyunnecessary visits to Nursing Homes and prioritized resources for those facilities. And we gave it a very strong priority. Fema has sent shipments to many different locations of protect i protective equipment, and its going directly to 15,400 medicaid and medicarecertified Nursing Homes throughout the country. Today id like to provide an update on the additional actions weve been able to take, and theyve been very constructive. First, were requiring increased testing of the nursing home personnel in states where you have the worst outbreaks. All personnel will be tested at the highest level. Were distributing 15,000 rapid point of care diagnostic devices to support this effort. These are the tests where it takes 5 minutes to 15 minutes. Theyre very accurate, theyre very good, and were sending them all over the country. And over 600 devices will be also shipped this week to additional facilities. Second, hhs will be distributing an additional 5 billion from the Provider Relief Fund to all Nursing Homes. Nursing homes and higher rusk areas risk areas will be receiving more funding. This money can be used to address critical needs including the hiring of additional staff, increasing testing and providing Technology Support so residents can connect their families, and they can connect to their families. They are having a tremendous time. They want to be with their loved ones, they cant do it. So what were doing is were working it so that we can connect, are them connect with their families if theyre not able to visit. Third weve been identifying especially high risk Nursing Homes and sharing that information with the governors so that the governors and their staffs can take appropriate action. Were able to find, because of the Testing Programs and other means, were able to find certain areas that are very high risk. The governors can then take action. Additionally, cms, cdc and the u. S. Public Health Service are providing enhanced Technical Assistance and support including visits to the highest risk Nursing Homes, and and thats their priority right now. Nursing homes with the highest risk Nursing Homes. Cms and cdc are implementing a National Training program focused on Infection Control for those Nursing Homes that need it most. And we have them surveyed, and we have them mostly pinpointed. Other the past few months over the past few months, weve created a Surveillance System to detect outbreaks, and currently 99 of all Nursing Homes are reporting directly to us, so we have great data. When a nursing home has three or more cases, we alert the state and make sure that it responds very quickly. We check on it, make sure they respond very quickly. I want to send a message of support and hope to every Senior Citizen who has been dealing with the struggle of isolation and what should be the golden years of your life. We will get to the other end of that tunnel very quickly, we hope. The light starting to shine. We will get there very quickly. But we send our love, we send a message of love, very important. Were with you all the way. As far as the outbreak in the sun belt, i said yesterday we continue to vigorously combat the rise of cases in the scout and the west south and southwest and the west. Were chose hi monitoring and aggressively acting to control the infection in texas, california, arizona, florida arizonas starting to come down. Doing a good job. Theyre all doing a good job. Theyre very talented people. There are likely a number of causes for the spike in infections. Cases started to rise among Young Americans shortly after demonstrations, which you know very well about, which presumably triggered a broader relaxation of mitigation efforts nationwide and a substantial increase in travel also was a cause. Increased gathering on holidays such as memorial day as well as young people closely kong regating at bars congregating at bars and probably other places, maybe beaches, four or five different listed places, we have twelve that are listed on the guide. Likely also contributed. Were also sharing a 2 the ,000mile 2,000mile border with mexico as we know very well, and cases are surging in mexico, unfortunately. I was with the president , and very sharply and all across the rest of the western hemisphere. 257 miles of newly constructed wall along the southern border has had a great positive impact on people coming in and we have record low numbers of people coming in illegally. That has helped greatly. It was really meant for a different purpose but it worked out very well for what were doing right now and for the pandemic. Nationwide, beyond the outbreak in several states cases remain low and very stable. 19 states have positive test rates of less than 5 . Eight states have positive test rates of less than 2 . Our nationwide positive test rate is beginning to decline and currently at 8. 8 , compared to over 16 at its peak in april. Its coming down. Its coming down fairly rapidly. Today we surpassed, first time we surpassed 50 million tests. That is far more than any country in the world. India is second we believe, we think, 1. 4 billion people, that is about 12 million tests. We have 50 million tests. Were working with every state to insure the supply of remdesivir. For early case intervention and steroid treatment and various other treatments for those seriously ill. Were working very closely with hospitals, doctors, Nursing Homes, everybody. The remdesivir has proven to be terrific. Our case fatality rate continues to decline. We want to push this rate even lower. The Therapeutic Research continues daily on new and very promising treatments, including antibody treatments and the use of blood thinners and steroids. A lot of Different Things are happening and a lot of things are coming out that we wouldnt have known a number of months ago. Were doing tremendously well on Therapeutic Research and tremendously well on the vaccines and frankly therapeutically or maybe a word even beyond that word is cure would be the best of all, well see what happens but that would be great if we could go into the hospital and just cure people and were at a position where were actually able to a certain extent what we have right now. We think in a very short period of time well be able to do that. Our strategy is to shelter highest risk americans while allowing younger and healthier citizens to return to work or school while being careful and very vigilant. Wear a mask and socially distance.
