Chikfila. All that and more coming up on making money. Meantime stocks hitting record highs today as we continue our santa claus rally heading into the years end. What a difference a year makes. Last december it was all doom and gloom. It continued right through the summer. Recession jitters. President trump said to be rattled as economic alarm bells cause a wild week on wall street. There are indicators that the u. S. Could be headed for recession. There are some rough waters ahead, maybe a recession. Fears of a coming recession spiked on heels of a key economic indicator, what is called an inverted yield curve. The yield curve has inverted every, before every u. S. Recession since 1955. They say potential recession on the horizon. Recession. Recession. Recession. Susan a lot of use of the r word. We have experts predicting more gains to come next year into 2020, yes a president ial vote. Joining me, jim awad, we have Money Map Press chief Technical Strategist d. R. Horton. Jim, recession they talked about recession heading into 2020. They have talked about a recession for the last decade. There were certainly fears of it last year because the fed was raising rates and tightening liquidity and there were signs that the worldwide economies were softening. A lot has changed since then of the fed has been aggressive reversing itself, adding liquidity. The ecb has been the same. So lower Interest Rates are stimulative to the economy. The economy is basically done a touch better than most people expected during the course of the year. Of course most recently, all of the lingering negatives appear to dissipated. You have dissipated brexit. You have dissipated china deal. Susan usmca. Usmca. And the impeachment so far has come and gone without any surprises and the recent signs are the economy is accelerating again. Right now looks like clear waters. Susan right. All of that happening last week. Hence the records. Susan hence the records this week, heading into years end. Some would say if you have the fed on your side which we heard from kaplan today of the dallas fed, he doesnt expect to raise Interest Rates next year, that is boding pretty well for stronger gains . Yeah, you know, the narrative of the fed is the strongest that we have if you look out months, not just what is happening this week. If the fed is supportive, that money being added into the, into the mix has to go somewhere. Right now it is being treated best in the u. S. Stock market. Were seeing that over and over again as things keep going up. Jims point about the economy. It is continuing to show signs of robustness. Global economy showing signs of possibly bottoming in some problem areas including china. Susan what about record stock markets in europe as well. We talk about problems and slow growth or no growth and negative Interest Rates. That is the great debate. People feel europe is cheaper than the United States because it has gone up less than we have this year. Stocks are statistically cheaper. Our Growth Engine has been an continues to be much better. I think United States, they should all do well in this environment. I would stick with the United States. Susan are we in for next year . Five or 6 gains . That is pretty much average what wall street analyst i would say multiples really done what they can do based on easing of money, elevation of multiples. You can go up next year based on how much profits go up. At this point, consensus is five, six, 7 . A few people at eight. Well see if the economy continues to accelerate. If the estimates start to go up. Well go up. I think go up through labor day. Well focus on election, what the political environment looks like. If Interest Rates, inflation are still where they are, or do they start to go up a little bit. Susan typically, as jpmorgan says, stock markets do tend to rally 12 in the year prior to a 2020, not 2020, but president ial election which we will get in 2020. Does that sound about right to you, dr . That you expect to see higher markets from here . I believe. All the points jim made were right on point. And i think the president ial cycle is a real thing. Weve seen that happen. I think statistically significant its a real thing of the Election Year being a strong year. I think that there is a, there is a very real chance of beating those six to eights, getting up into double digits. Susan thats bullish. Very bullish. He is a bullish man. But there are individual stock stories to go through. That includes boeing which is going through its own woes. Stock rebounding today after the Plane Company announced it will temporarily stop making 737 max jets starting in january. It will be first time in 20 years, two decades, boeing will not make a 737 jet. The Economic Impact could be farreaching for a lot of suppliers as well. Lets get straight to gerri willis on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange for more reaction. Reporter this is amazing today, boeing up and down, in the green and the red. As you showed the red a little bit. It keeping turning around over and over again after the subpoena said they would suspend 737 max production last night. The stock opened lower. It is taking a lot of other companies with it. Shares of southwest, delta, american, spirit all those Airlines Trading in sympathy. Some of them doing better. Some of them not. Ge, a supplier, not doing very well indeed. Utx, also suffering. Were seeing a lot of reaction across the board. As you know, delta, does not use the 737 max jet. Theyre in the green. Earlier they were in the red. So the sector really buffetted by this news. Boeing shares themselves still lower since the lyon air crash and ethiopia air crashes. Even now the shares of the company are up for the year believe it or not even after all this bad news. We have a baird analyst today, peter armas says he expect as return to service by march. That is an outstanding question, what does it happen. He cut his price target on the stock to 322 just below where it stands right now. The cost of the shutdown, that is open question. An analyst on the stock estimate as maybe a billion dollars maybe more. Fixed costs, excess labor, stranded costs. He assuming half of the workforce ultimately gets furloughed. We have remaining questions on the stock, are there problems with the faa recertification we dont know about . Is that why the company is delaying production . Presumably were going to get another charge to earnings because of this delay. So expensive for the company to do this. So this opening the door to lots more questions for boeing. But i have to tell you, all in all, on the year, the stock doing okay, given its track record what is happening. Back to you. Susan thank you so much, gerri. Yes it is up for the year but underperforming the 20 gains weve seen across all three benchmarks and i think that is probably been the underperformance of the entire industrial sector as a whole because there are better Growth Stocks out there like apple, microsoft in the Technology Space . I think the industrial sector is going to be one that will pick up in 2020. I believe were going to get a little bit more inflation. That is going to help those folks that make things that hurt when we drop them on our feet. Boeing, i think, there is a, there is a really good chance that we have hit a shortterm bottom this morning. I started buying. I think there is opportunity here that we get the inverse of buy the rumor, sell the news, so that the news is out, news is priced in for short term. I think we could see this one riding up. Susan you think it is all priced in, jim . You dont know yet. There isnt a lot of visibility but i get where youre coming from. Some of the worst mistakes i made in life is value trap, you think things got worse and you bought it and they got even worse . There is not a lot of visibility and there are scenarios where this plane is not in service for longer than people think. So it will hurt, it will hurt the economy. Hurt the industrial sector. But i think people will normalize through its impact on the economy, realize that it is onetime hit to the economy. At some point, they should be able to build some planes again. It will stimulate. Susan dont feel bad, jim. Even Warren Buffett fell for the value trap at some point. Worst mistakes i made. Susan will bowing get back to the 400 level . Record high is 446 for the stock. You have to look at boeings position in this duopoly, this airplane duopoly. Susan right. They still sell 80 of the high margin, wide body planes. That is a really strong place. Could they have some more trouble with the 737 max . Sure. But once they get to the other side of that, i believe we will see i agree with you. Question is next year. Could be another difficult year for the company but they are industrial as you said, in a very strong position, duopoly market that will grow over time. Susan what about the fixed costs . Doesnt that get bigger, magnified because they have fewer planes . They will lose, cash flow will still be Something Like a billion dollars a month negative. Some large number. I forget what they said. Even with all furloughs, cutting people they will be in a negative cash flow situation. Susan yeah. What you have to see is the max or its successor might need to be rebranded. Susan definitely. Back in the air, building them again, selling them before you get to the other side that could be a transition year for next year. Susan rebrand should definitely be on the cards. Not like boeing hasnt made 737s for decades and decades maybe not with the max licensing. Great to see you. Thank you so much. Happy holidays. To you too. Susan talk about technology. Facebook gaining another like from a powerful ally this election season. The big backer throwing their support behind letting political ads go without factchecking on social media. Susan facebook board member peter thiel pushing the social media giant to continue their political ad policy, which means they will not change despite public pressure. Some members, some executives of the board disagree. We have Jackie Deangelis and bellpointe chief Market Strategist david nelson. Start with you, jackie, reading through the wall street journal report, sounds like we have peter thiel keeping his reputation as a disruptor. He was the first outside investor at facebook. He has been on the board since 2005. I guess he gets on peoples nerves sometimes ands the wrong buttons. I think you can say that but i also think his message to Mark Zuckerberg is clear. Stick to your guns. Dont be influenced by twitter Ceo Jack Dorsey saying well take the ads off our platform. Even with regulatory issues pending next year, continue to post these ads. Remember the thing that facebook does with the ads, not just that theyre posting them, but criticism they dont censor them in any way, they dont fact check them. The Tech Companies would say it is not our responsibility to do that. We should be putting messages out there. So its a big debate for 2020. As you know so much influence in the last election came from these platforms. Susan in this article, also some of these employees who have been tasked with changing the internal dynamics of facebook saying youre undermining our campaign to battle misinformation after Cambridge Analytica . I understand that. There is political divide on the board. There is a political divide in the company. There is certainly a political divide in our company. I would support what mark is doing. Facebook is not originator of the content that is difference between them between a broadcaster and print media outlet. It is financial decision. It would cost a lot. Im not sure as Facebook User do i want a 25yearold in Silicon Valley what i should see on my facebook page. I have to worry about my friend tossing political hand grenades into my neck of the woods, using software to paint political enemies in a bad light. Its a wild west. I get that. But we have to take some responsibility ourselves. Susan why dont you do what google does . They ended microtargeting. You can get adses toward large demographic elements. Ate per rule would be adopt, stand by ad rule in most Media Outlets where the candidate, where the ad being placed for has to come out to defend the ad, saying i support and endorse this advertisement. Susan what about the palantier part of the article . I thought that was really interesting, at the end of the article, towards the end the wall street journal was saying that palantier may have helped Cambridge Analytica access some of this data . That is scary. You start getting into deeper issues i mentioned will be on the docket when it comes to regulators looking privacy, how theyre using this data. That could be potentially why thiel would want data to be there, ads to be there, so he could collect data around it. That may be a big leap to make but definitely something to think about. It is another angle. He is not a stupid guy. He is a billionaire. He is venturecapitalist. Susan one 1 2 billion. He founded paypal. Whatever moves he is making or advice giving Mark Zuckerberg i have to believe there is a reason behind it. Isnt there is cost to free speech . There is ugly side of free speech, maybe were seeing this way . Part of free speech defending rights of others with viewpoints so opposed what you stood for your entire life. That is the other side of the dynamic. We have to endorse as americans. We have to live with that. This is platform we have to deal with. Susan quickly, david, just as stocks, weve heard about this, antitrust investigation that has been spearheaded bipartisan by the way across 50 states and their attorney generals maybe look at antitrust when it comes to google, when it comes to facebook has had no effect on both stocks and entire tech sector this year. It hasnt. Big tech has really a target on its back right now. Would i say actually google is more at risk than any of the big three, facebook, amazon and google. I think google is really more at risk. Maybe more so because theyre dealing with some of our adversaries like china who seem very willing to go into china to get back in there but theyre not willing to work with our own military. For me as an american is very suspect. Susan were still up 30 on the year for google. Fabulous stocks. Susan seems like theyre teflon stocks and antitrust is still something on the horizon maybe. Good to see you guys. Good to see you. Susan french disconnection were seeing in europe with protests grinding Public Transit to a standstill. Flights, buses trains, all at a standstill thanks to a massive french government control causing chaos for Public Transportation is this another cautionary tale of Big Government from across the pond . Here to discuss Young Americans for liberty, michelle. This is about raising retirement age, connecting all 42 dispersed Pension Plans together. Saying you can retire at 64 instead of 62. This is what were seeing in a country that by the way hasnt been growing that much over the last 20 years. Yeah. Really when you look at this the reason why there is so much upheaval in france right now, because the french government is filling a role really only the private sector can fill. Theyre trying to set pensions. Theyre trying to establish benefits. Just couple weeks ago there were protests with the firefighters in france. Really when you look at this, people are trying to get things from the government they should get from private businesses and when there are huge public works programs, it turns the government into a jobs program which we know it is not good at doing. It is not good siding what people need. When you free up market, free up labor market specifically, what that gives people power. It gives them power to negotiate what benefits they want, what age they want to retire and the government is far too involved here. That is why were really seeing all the upheaval. Susan with such generous social programs over in france, look how upset they are, even with the yellow vest protests weve seen as well, what does it mean for those that want to promote socialism here, medicare for all, canceling all student debt . Where are we going to find the money for this if. Right. This really causes problems because you see that, people who have the generous social welfare programs in europe, theyre not happy with those, because the government is not good delivering on those promises. That is something i wish this Young Americans would understand is that the government makes these amazing promises but not good actually delivering. At the end of the day those things only come from the private sector and from the market. When you free up people to make the decisions themselves, rather than trying to turn the government into aegirine teed guaranteed jobs program you see people having success. Not under socialism or massive programs like Green New Deal. Susan proclimate change in france as well. Were hearing this from aoc, a lot of democratic politicians f theyre upset up in arms working more how do you pay for Something Like the Green New Deal which will cost trillions and trillions . When you look at cost of Green New Deal for a household is up to 100,000. People like aoc, try to say theyre pushing for the welfare of working people, when in reality, working people bear brunt of these policies. The wealthy afford a gas tax or extra bucks pay for gas like raising taxes in france but working people cannot afford that these are elitist policies that step on the working class instead of elevating them. Susan by the way they tried a wealth tax in france as well of those ultrawealthy with 1 of their assets. What did they find . They found a lot of these individuals moved away first of all or shifted their assets overseas. So maybe that is lesson also for those like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren . Yeah, absolutely. When you look at what happens to countries that raise wealth taxes there was article in wall street journal millions of people left france, they knew they didnt want to keep their welfare. They didnt want it to be taxed. They found another place that would be generous when it came to what wealthy people are able to do. So you see these policies time and time again. They play out the same way. If we do that in america, same thing will happen to us. Susan they were facing 70 in income taxes at one point. How scary is that. Emma michelle, good to see you. Susan the house passing two spending bills to avoid a Government Shutdown, sending them straight to the senate. Inside are nearly 1. 4 trillion worth of your tax dollars. Can we expect any kind of strain on the economy . Joining us now, we have pennsylvania congressman, member of the House Budget Committee, dan. Thank you for spending your time on a very busy day for you. 1. 4 trillion. This extends i guess until september 30th of next year. This avoids the government shut down like last year. Why did we extend it up until the election in november instead . This is just how we set it through september 30th, election time certainly is when it is crunch time. That is what makes things happen. Right here we are in the last few days of our session here, and were getting a lot done. We had a meeting earlier with ambassador lighthizer on usmca which is going to come to a vote tomorrow finally. The speaker is finally bringing it to the floor. Yes, we just voted moments ago on this spending bill, two bills, 1158 and 1865. There was tremendous amount of good in it. I voted for one of the bills, not both, even though there was a lot of good in it, were not showing enough restraint. I fully understand President Trump is going to sign both which is good but it is congresss job to give him the best deal, best plan possible. That is what he will sign off on. I dont think it was the best deal we could give him. That is why we want to be back in the majority to improve upon these things. Susan which part did you not like . 23 billiondollar hike in defense spending 1. 3 billion for u. S. Mex can he border. 3 pay for increase in military pay for the members . All that i like. Original bill 1158. We voted to repeal the Health Insurance tack, the medical device tax as well as the cadillac tax, many provisions of obamacare were just repealed in the u. S. House of representatives. What i didnt like were a number of the excesses. I was very much for the agricultural money, the rural broadband, some Disaster Relief funding. There was a lot of good in it but excessive. Were increasing spending by 46 billion. As you stated, 1. 4 trillion. Frankly susan we got the bill last night. There is a lot in it i didnt necessarily know but i fully understand why the president is going to sign it. Susan congressman, i have to apologize. We do have to get to playback from the u. S. President , President Trump and meeting with guatemalan president Jimmy Morales in just a bit. This is busy week in congress. You not only vote on spending day today, Impeachment Vote and usmca on thursday. Yes. The impeachment is a nightmare before christmas situation. This began over 2 1 2 years ago. Even Speaker Pelosi said this process began 2 1 2 years ago. Occasionally the truth comes out. Lets face it procedures provided no due process. There was incredible presumption of guilt. The players involved were unbelievably suspect. Susan i have to apologize. We have to get to the piece of tape, hearing from the u. S. President trump as well. Reporter are you going to watch the house proceedings tomorrow. I have not seen it. Look its a hoax, the whole impeachment thing, its a hoax. We look forward to getting on to the senate. Were not entitled to lawyers. Were not entitled to witnesses. Were not entitled to anything in the house. Its a total sham. When you have a guy like shifty schiff go out and make up a statement i made, this is what he said, but i never said it, he totally made it up. In guatemala they handle things much tougher than that. Because of immunity, has house immunity, because of immunity he cant be prosecuted. He took a statement, totally made it up. It was a lie, it was a fraud and you just cant do those things. So look, this has been a, total sham from the beginning Everybody Knows it. I have never seen the Republican Party so united. Weve got, our last vote we got 100 of the vote. I believe the senate is equally as well united. I watched Mitch Mcconnell this morning. I watched numerous people last night, senators, i think were equally well united. They know its a hoax, a witchhunt. Just continuation. Going on now for almost three years. It probably started before i even won the election, based on what were finding out with insurance policy quotes and other things. So, it is a disgrace. Yes. Are you going to let senator mcconnell decide on witnesses . He can decide. Well decide when were taking vote for usmca a very important deal. Very, very important deal with mexico, canada, ourselves. Were going to have to decide whether or not that comes first or second. To me i would let the senate decide on that. Mr. President you take any responsibility for the fact youre about to be impeached . I dont take any, zero to put it mildly. They took a perfect phone call that i had with the president of ukraine, absolutely perfect call. You know it, they all know it. Nothing was said wrong on that call, to impeach the president of the United States for that is a disgrace and its a mark on our country. Ill tell you why. Other president s in the future, unless they do something about this, other president s are going to have to live with this. Every time they do something, that is a little bit unpopular, a little bit strong, even if they are 100 right, because i have done a great job, when you look at kind of jobs we created, when you look at economy we created, when you look at rebuilding the military, taking care of vets, you just take a look what weve done, with choice, veterans choice. With accountability and the vets, with what weve done to protect our second amendment, so many other things, nobodys done as much as i have done the first three years. Thank you all very much. [reporters shouting questions] susan we have President Trump there in the bilateral with the guatemala president , Jimmy Morales, talking about impeachment process, calling it a sham, total disgrace. Mentioned usmca talking about the vote on thursday which will likely go through. Lets talk about 2020 and democrats. Susan to meet the parent this holiday, campaign is wrapping up efforts to coach his young supporters to talk to parents and grandparent during the holidays about Bernie Sanders. While he is top president ial content erred he is struggling to gain traction over democratic voters over the age of 50. Lets bring in Rashad Ritchie and stephanie hamel. I was shocked when i looked at this. Bernie sanders has over 52 of democratic primary voters, under the age of 35. Only 2 over 65. And bernie himself is 78 years old, isnt he. It is incredible. If it were up to young people today, Bernie Sanders would be the democratic nominee. So this poll youre talking about, the qunnipiac poll, in second place is Elizabeth Warren with about 17 and joe biden with around 11 . Keep in mind that biden has doubledigit lead in almost every single poll right now. It makes sense senator sanders is asking young people to go home to talk to their parents about democratic socialism. But the problem here, im not really sure that older democrats will buy into this whole democratic socialism thing. Susan a bit of a stretch, isnt it . Talk about this over christmas dinner, rashad . Biden has 47 of those democratic primary voters over the age of 65. I guess you need that if youre heading into iowa, New Hampshire first, because some of electorate is older, skews older, around 50 . Well you do need it. You need older voters. They are consistent voters but i want to take you back through history. Bernie sanders actually came very close to winning iowa in his first president ial bid. Not as if this guy cant be competitive in areas that have older voters but he is doing something called intergenerational learning. That is actually a scientific method. And a study came out, may of this year, that showed children are quite effective at transforming the ideology of their parents, ideology connected to the climate, what is primary in the study, shows a direct connection between children and their ability to actually influence their parents when they present the argument in appropriate way. So this is not a bad strategy. Every campaign has a weakness this is one of his weaknesses. He sees quite clear. He knows what happened during the first president ial run. He is trying to make sure that weakness does not appear again. Susan larry david probably helped in skewing supporters of Bernie Sanders a little bit younger. Guys we also have to talk about a fox news poll that found there is much stronger support for senator Elizabeth Warrens proposed wealth tax among voters than trumps proposed wall on u. S. Mexico border. Is this a sign for warren who has been falling in recent polls, stephanie. I think people are confused about the wealth tax. On its face it sounds like good idea, making over 50 million a year, millionaire or billionaire, some think it is reasonable to tax 2 . When you look at numbers, in history other countries tried it doesnt work out that way. Several countries like france tried it. They ended up repealing the wealth tax, when people understand details better how it works. They realize it is very unfair tore people paying their fair share, creating business, keeping economy strong. Susan 1 of the u. S. Population, richest 1 fill 40 of the tax covers, rashad. But 68 for this 2 wealth tax for those worth over 50 million . Yeah, i give voters more credit than what your guest just did. They know exactly what theyre talking about, when they say there is huge inequity the way our economy works in the United States of america. When you look at this polling data, you also see that generally for democrat, almost all democrat are saying we need to do something about the taxation as it relates to the wealthy. Well majority of americans agree with that. This once again shows the vast disconnect between average conservative and the popular opinion of the average american. And that is going to be troublesome running into this president ial cycle. Susan yeah. All right. Guys, thank you so much. Good to see you, rashad and stephanie. Happy christmas. The company helped develop this for ford out of germany. They actually to the drunk themselves, got themselves hung over and tried to recreate that with the suit. The wife from the infamous ad, monica ruiz, will reportedly join an episode of the bold and the beautiful. Here to react, fox news contributor, kat timms. I used to watch ridge battling thorn over stephanie but looks like monica ruiz is enjoying her 15 minutes of fame. Absolutely. I saw when she did an interview on this saying im very grateful for the opportunity but i hope that people dont just see me as the peloton lady. I totally get that on the one hand but on the other hand, if you werent the peloton lady, no one would be seeing you at all. I didnt know who she was before this. Now i do. There is this truth to the saying that theres no such thing as bad press. I think this may not always be true but in this case it definitely is. Shes working again. Susan she was also in the Ryan Reynolds ad. For a 30second ad, she took a lot of heat and this isnt even her narrative, her story line. She did not have any production or writing credit on this ad. Popeyes now taking a shot at chickfila by posting a help wanted ad for chicken sandwich professionals for sundays only, because chickfila is closed on sunday. Right. Yeah. I think that its great. When they first came out with their chicken sandwich, popeyes, i felt like nobody talked about anything else even though there was plenty of nonchicken related things going on in the news at the time. They sure know how to generate buzz. Now that its sort of slowed down they are bringing it back and making sure we talk about it. I havent tried popeyes sandwich yet. I think it would have to taste pretty good. Susan you couldnt get your hand on the sandwich. They sold out in two weeks time. But apparently chickfila can count on one Loyal Customer because a san diego man has eaten chickfila for 114 days straight. Yeah. I saw it in the headline. When i read about this, his wife was kind of upset. At first im like shes overreacting, let him eat his chicken. Then i saw he left a family trip at disney world to go to chickfila, to not break the streak. Im sorry, but if my husband, if i had one, and kids, this is aup hypothetical, if i had this family and we were at a hypothetical trip to disneyland, he leveaves me for fast food chicken hes not welcome back. Susan 114 days is going to be hard to beat. I thought about doing that. No. I did not. I didnt even think about it. Susan kat, always good to see you. Thank you. That does it for us. Dont forget, charles will be back tomorrow. Meantime, lets go to liz claman for the final hour of trade. Liz we cant get enough of the peloton wife story, can we. Thanks, susan.
