Rate. That meeting, 2day meeting beginning trade, trade in focus, Robert Lighthizer testifying before Senate House Committee today and ways and means tomorrow. Jeff, great to have you. Thank you, glad to be here. Maria thanks for joining us, i remember when you first went public, a lot of conversation of where the growth is coming for and since then the stock is up 1,000 , congratulations. Thank you so much. You bet, last year i move today hong kong for most of the year trying to understand better the market, but in that time we figured out something thats perhaps obvious which is thethe biggest brands in the world want to advertise more in china, largest surge in middle class in china, in fact, over 1 years 10 years they will create middle class. Maria wow. Cocacola, nike, you want to be tapping into a large surge in middle class because they are Global Companies and we help Global Companies . Given the fact that companies that want to get a foothold in china so far can only do it through joint venture, cant really own it out, companies wanting to do that given that nothing has changed in that regard and theres this spat with u. S. And china . Nothing macro has really changed. Brands want to be in china, because we do something very different than what Many American companies tried to do going into china and we say were not an american company, Global Company that happens to be based in the china but we are going into china, we are bringing money into china because all the brands are advertising more in china for the most part for chinese consumers love, so i bring in money into china instead of trying to take it out, its easy to be more welcomed that way. Maria where does the growth come from right now at the trade, talk about connect tv and Digital Advertising as well. When we first got started we were responsible for banner ads on the internet, at the top of the page on yahoo or Something Like that. But today the bulk of the money that we make comes from mobile and even more video, mobile number 1 and video number 2, and makes sense, tv commercials have way more affect on your ability to love or or know a product. So whether thats happening on the internet or whether thats happening in connected tv, connected tv i think the most bullish number we ever shared with connected tv spend up to 21x year over year, consumers adopting connect tv at unprecedented rates but, of course, adfunded connected tv growing faster than 2 or 3 station that is you knew years ago which didnt have ads. Maria can you operate in china without using huawei . Huwaei with 30 billiondollar hit as of the United States. Huge hit to them to not be here but huawei is the standard in china and will continue to advertise on huawei devices in the rest of the world, of course, they wont be as prominent in the United States. Maria do you worry about risks that they keep raising as a t relates to huawei. I try not to get involved in politics at all. Privacy is much more our obsession, we try to stay out and trance act in advertising transactions where we are just talking about making ads relevant without ever looking at at peoples directly identifiable information, staying out of the whole thing we can be neutral and partner with every player. Maria facebook announcing crypto currency, been under fire for those reasons, privacy breaches, how will the potential Technology Impact in your view . Do you think we will see regulation on tech . I think theyll be more regulation on tech than there is today but in general, i longterm and macro view, once we were worried about aol having too much power and yahoo having too much power in the internet. Often we forget when youre talk about individual destinations like facebook, facebook is not as influential as it was a few year ago. Now, of course whatsapp and instagram. Maria i think instagram and whatsapp have more users and have more appeal and have kept the moment of facebook, the Company Going but to come in and out of favor. I dont think we have to nearly as concerned as some people are today about them having too much power because the market is fragmented and super competitive and that market tends to take care of itself. Whats your view on the broader backdrop right now, what kind of a year are you respecting . From an Economic Perspective . Yeah. I believe that the Global Economy is extremely strong, the fact that the way currencies have been adjusted over the last 10 years have made it so everybody is incentivized to grow and thats good for advertising because advertising is in part benefiting from the growth and part fueling the growth, so because we fuel growth, one of the first places especially with healthy economy puts its money into advertising so it can perpetuate growth. Maria are you seeing the numbers go up, businesses put more money into advertising or sitting on cap x . It is hard, im not necessarily the best bellwether because programmatic is division of digit and programmatic is fasting growing part and digital is growing more than the rest. I will say the dollars are coming in so quickly that its hard to believe that people arent doing well. Youre right there in the sweet spot, jeff, thank you so much. Thank you so much for joining us, jeff green, facebook is launching the new Digital Currency, we will talk about it coming up, Lauren Simonetti with details in new york, lauren, good morning. Lauren lets talk about that right now, facebook named Digital Currency libra, it will allow billions of users to make Financial Transactions across the globe, libra to connect people who dont access to traditional banking platforms, analysts say with more than 2 billion facebook users libra can shake up the Banking System and major Revenue Source for the company. Meanwhile the Federal Reserve in focus next 2 days, futures this morning are trading up, higher expecting for the broader averages, s p up 7, nasdaq futures up 37, ahead of first day of Federal Reserve 2day Interest Rate meeting, the fed expect today leave Interest Rates unchanged with this announcement tomorrow despite calls from President Trump to cut rates immediately, joining the conversation this morning Fox Business Network Cheryl Casone is in new york and investment strategist lindsey bell, great to see you, ladies, good morning. Cheryl good morning. Maria what do you think . The fed will not cut rates tomorrow, cheryl . Cheryl right. Maria 3. 6 million unemployment rate, 3. 6 unemployment, if things are so great, why would they cut rates right now . I think the expectation is they wont cut rates but i cant wait to see is what they had to say at the end of 2day meeting about the tariff situation, is there effect, are they going to talk about that, the Global Economy, sign that is the Global Economy is slowing. To your point the u. S. Economy is firing on all cylinders and say, quote, unquote, they are data dependent. Maria really important points that you make. Let me ask you lindsey, are you expecting that for 2019, give us your sense of economic bomb drop from earnings perspective . From earnings perspective, down 1. 4 , but as we all know estimates always go down into the reporting period, i think we will get flat to up slight. In 2019, 2. 2 growth. In 2020, 11. 8 growth, analysts are expecting growth to continue especially in 2020 as we psych it will easier lowgrowth rate comparisons. So i think from an Economic Perspective, sure, we have a couple different weak data points and manufacturing data yesterday, the may jobs report, okay, little bit lighter that lr than expected. Everything is firing on all cylinders as cheryl just said, so i think as far as the fed meeting today, this week, i think youre just going get a walkback of commentary from the fed and thatll be it. Maria walkback in terms of what, saying look, we are the economy is doing well . Whatever he says will be impactful. I think that what youre going to see removal of the word patience from the commentary. Opening the way for them to make a move in july if they so want. We will get updated protections on Economic Growth, inflicion and interest inflation and interest, one rate hike expected in outlook for Interest Rates this year. We may see that removed. Maria all right, we will see about that. Markets are looking good, lets talk facebook, cheryl, social media giant making it official, its called libra. Allows people to participate in new Libra Network. Dozens like companies, ebay, spotify, uber has signed on as partners for this. Another leg for currency story. Cheryl your guest brought up issue of regulation, you gave the list of companies on the list, Goldman Sachs and jpmorgan. Facebook reached out to banks, they said no thank you. They had platforms that have gone to crypto currencies, they have their own businesses, maybe thats the part of this. Wall street likes this. But at the same time do you really want to reach out to a customer who doesnt have access to regular bank and thats who they are targeting here, maybe not global story, but ive always been a little bit hesitant to kind of get on crypto currency trade having said that, this will be good for bitcoin if nothing else this morning. Maria well, that was my next question, is this a competitor to bitcoin or does it take, does it take momentum away from bitcoin or is it better to see a deeper platform or crypto currency in general maybe its a positive for bitcoin, although bitcoin is trading down fractionally this moving . Cheryl i think it makes more competitive. May not be bitcoin that we are using in 10 years, maybe cat. Com coin, we dont know. More and more people say crypto currency is here to say i just dont know its bitcoin. Maria what do you think, lindsey . The positive is its backed by several government securities, maybe offers stable crypto currency to consider, part of the reason facebook share might be popping is maybe an unwinded of investors out of bitcoin and going into facebook for alternative here, so i dont know, analysts are pretty pumped up about this, im not so sure itll drive revenue for facebook. Maria we will talk about where the growth is, be sure to stay tune for my interview with david marcus coming up, head of libra in facebook, he will join me live to talk about the currency libra, ladies, thank you, short break and we are talking power surge, driving up sales in bay area, the role tesla is playing on that, after the short break, crisis at the border, new information from the border sources, President Trump is making major announcement on immigration, we have all of it, stay with us. Here again Maria Bartiromo with special edition with mornings with maria live from france, 2019cannes. Maria welcome back, thanks for joining us live from cannes, this morning, tuesday june 18th, top stories before 6 30 on the east coast, futures indicating up 84 points, s p futures up 10 and nasdaq futures up 57 points, one day ahead of the results of Federal Reserve meeting taking off today, not expecting rate cut but expecting conversation around it. Yesterday markets were slightly positive with boeing adding 52 points on the dow accounting for all of mondays gains, we have some competition, though, to report pushing on the pressure on boeing. Markets yesterday were higher across the board, nasdaq did well, 48 points, twothirds of 1 , european indices this morning, tech quarante in paris up 72, dax index in germany up 176 points, in asia overnight, lets check the markets there, the asian markets were mixed mostly higher, hang seng, best performer, hong kong was up 1 , investors are waiting for the Federal Reserve, the 1day meeting starts today and we are taking a look at where Interest Rates could be headed next, that and target outrage, we will tell you how much its expected to cost the retailer coming up. All the stories coming up this morning, target shares are down, and top story this half an hour, tensions in the gulf, u. S. Is preparing to send 1,000 additional troops to the middle east to respond to what theyre calling, quote, unquote, hostile behavior from airan, iran is saying that it will exceed cap on rich uranium stockpiles going against 2015 nuclear deal, joining me right now retired army colonel jay, colonel, good to talk to you this morning, thank you so much for weighing in, hey, maria, how are you doing today, appreciate it. Maria tell me about it, weve had provocations by iran, those tankers in the gulf of oman, tankers from saudi arabia two weeks earlier and the iranians are threatening to break the Nuclear Accord altogether, how serious is this . Yeah, i think its getting pretty serious and iran is getting desperate and they are testing us, bottom line, they are a nation of terror and they support terrorism. We saw it in iraq, we saw it in syria, we see it in yemen, supports hezbollah, death to tomorrow, death to israel and what they are continuing to do on top of it is the region hostage, they want to sanctions relieved, they are pressuring the europeans to get involved and we have to be really conscious of our partners there, the relationship habit been great and, you know, i think the bottom line is they want to continue the push influence, they want it that way, and they are not our friends and we need to be leery of it and part of key here. Maria is this the right response from the u. S. , the additional 1,000 troops, whats your sense in terms of how the u. S. Needs to respond to this behavior . Its multifaceted, i think its appropriate with troops potentially going over, they have to be able to set up and be prepared to accept followon actions, hopefully that never comes to that, i think thats the right approach but i think working with the gulf partners, we have to work closely with saudi arabia and all all the countries and this simply comes down to in my mind, theyre pushing the envelopes of trying to get the sanctions resolved. They thought they had a pretty good deal, they are pushing us, combined with all of that its the result, we cannot led iran continue to operate on their own accord because they cannot simply be trusted. I think initially good response, we need to be careful of overreacting quickly, we need to be deliberate and listen to best military advice involved with diplomatic approach. Maria do you feel that we have that diplomatic approach with our europe as well as middle east, i know the saudiu. S. Relationship is there, what about the europeance, they didnt necessarily want the u. S. To pull out of nuclear deal, do we have their support . Yeah, maria, thats the key point, im not sure if we do. I know that theres been tensions with the president and european allies pushing him in different ways even with the nato and all that stuff and i think whats important with that angle with the europeans has got to be, we have to put that aside and look at the greater problem of what iran is trying to do and what they have in the past and how they continue to try to influence and have not been a good player with anybody besides those they think terrorist organizations where they can use them for their influence, so, you know, i think we need to work on the diplomatic approach with europeans and they key, if give funding or not as much sanctions, thats exactly what iran wants, thats a combination of showing military resolve potentially along with diplomatic tool of National Power and has to be worked really hard. Maria let me bring in cheryl from new york, i wonder if theres impact here given rising tensions with iran, we know that oil of iran hasnt been a factor, are we seeing impact today . Cheryl youve also got signs of weakening Global Economy and right now that is more of the lead story when it comes to oil contract than iran is, but having said that, if we have to put more ships, more more troops into the strait of hormuz or gulf of oman you will see it react to that. Maria demand outlook is crude prices, the move in oil is more about weakening demand than anything else, do you see impact here on oil . You know, a lot of the whole strait of hormuz is the lifeline for most of the worlds oil supply and certainly when you start influencing that you will see impacts without a doubt. Maria right, okay. We have to be leery of it for sure. Maria i had some sources at the border telling me that they were significant incidents this week, the president spoke about some of this yesterday on twitter, the president wrote, he said next week ice will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have i like elicitly found way into the United States, mexico using strong immigration laws doing good job to stopping people write it is president long before they get to border, guatemala getting ready to find a safe third agreement, the only ones that wont do anything are democrats in congress, they must vote to get rid of loopholes and if so border crisis will end quickly, this coming as congressman alexandria ocasiocortez is under fire for comparing detention at border to nazi concentration camps, she actually compared the two, my sources told me that an officerinvolved shooting took place in southern border in el paso which is the border that we were at, the latest footage from the scene, there was a shooter there, its just its just so dangerous, so whats your take in terms of the border and whether or not congress is going to act to change the asylums and loopholes that enable all of this . Yeah, youre exactly right, maria, and i see it like a lot of people do in two aspects, you the political aspect that you mentioned in the back and forth with democrats and quite candid i think its absolutely, you know, harmful and its not the way we should be handling it. We will not get away with it. We see tensions politically and this has become a political football, if you will. The reality its important to listen to folks on the ground. We have a crisis at the border, its undeniable and anybody who tries to deny it i think its just playing politics. I think the key to handling it, you can talk millions being deported but you have to start at the core, mexico, guatemala, take ownership of the problem, theres been little bit of push to do that recently and bigger issue when it comes to folks Illegal Immigrants that are in, you have to tier that out, focus on ms13, you to focus on criminals, repeat offenders and the folks that really you to start there because you cant just deport everybody, you have to have a layered approach. Its a shame that we cant come together and deal with it and it has become political and its really sad to be quite candid. Maria well we were just showing, people needed help and what understand is that there are very few officers now at the border because theyre doing all sorts of other stuff, they are helping children, bringing kids to hospital, they are so many kids are showing up sick after hitchhiking for some time, this is what the people told me when i went to el paso border recently. I think its amazing and what youre seeing with the compassion with children and we saw even in iraq, afghanistan, soldiers are doing what they can to help people in need and there are people in need without a doubt but we cant turn a blind eye to real issue of protecting our border. Maria exactly. That cannot be overlooked and i commend the guys on the ground and i see you talking with them. Maria they really were and they are trying their best but they are overwhelmed for sure. Colonel, good to talk to you, we appreciate your time. Maria, have a great day. General jay vorhees joining us on the phone. Maria welcome back, big business, video games and esports, billions of dollars up for grabs in Competitive Industry and joining me right now to walk us through it the acti vision, daniel cherry the third and johanna, right off the bat, congratulations, sweet spot of one of the most successful or powerful areas we have ever seen, what do you think its behind it . Its a booming Global Business esports in general 1. 2 billion industry by this year, something that we know has already arrived, citybased sportslike models. Maria so well with young people because and not just young people actually, i shouldnt just say young people because not only gaming but we said in commercial game absolutely. To your point, like traditional sports they want to be great at this competitive entertainment that we call video games and they are watching esports to learn tips and tricks but also watch winning and defeat just like traditional sports. Maria describe the industry, we talk about fortnite, drawing 250 million players a year according to wall street journal, they are one to have biggest gaming platforms for sure and how do you compete with that and has things gotten more competitive with fortnite . Esports is very similar to traditional sports, you want to see the best of the best gamers go head to head and thats really the heart and soul of esports and what we have done at the company is really lift that up from a viewership model and say, look, we know that in the u. S. Alone its projected to grow by 50 just as viewers watching gamers play by the year 2023. Maria whats the next step on this, how do you continue . Yeah, well, we will talk about whats happened already, 20 teams all over the world, hailing from, you know, different cities and galvanizing people with live xearns experience and we are about to do with call of duty. Maria its resinating, right, how do you market this and what are you doing in terms of tweaking the marketing to bring in maybe girls or other other populations that are not espn, abc broadcast partner, we are watching esports just like traditional sports on your cell phones around the world, we have a lot of partnerships with great programs, blizzard has great for girls like you mentioned for women. Maria thats one way to bring girls in, have female characters . Absolutely. We have more female characters than mostly any game. Maria i love it. Where does the growth come from in the next 5 years . Call of duty the biggest gaming console in u. S. Alone. This is time for us to grow as a franchise. Maria fantastic, johanna, daniel, thank you. Communicationsins stocks, Energy Stocks drove the move yesterday. In europe this morning, money is moving into stocks. European indices across the board higher. Cac in paris up 1 andahalf percent, 75 points. Dax in germany up 1 and a quarter percent, 148 points higher. In asia overnight, hong kong did well. Take a look at the asian indices. It was mostly higher with the exception of japan. Hang seng was up 1 after all of those protests. Weve got more on that this morning as well. Mean while, tourists death, a new jersey man is the latest to die in the dominican republic. This story is a mystery. We are going to be digging deep into what has gone on. Dozens of jimmy buffet fans claimed they were sickened during their trip. Well take a look. Trouble for boeing this morning, the aircraft maker recording no new plane orders at the paris air show. Meanwhile, youve got competitors seeing blood and upping up their game. The frightening video of a flight hitting major turbulence, all that coming up. A real life iron man, a bulletproof suit that has been built and it can actually fly. Find out who made it. All those stories coming up. Joining me to break it down, Cheryl Casone in new york along with lindsey bell. Ladies, good to see you this morning. Cheryl good morning, maria. The feds twoday meeting is starting, oil is higher and its a sunny day in france. What else can you ask for . [ laughter ] maria this view is like the Million Dollar view behind me. Youve got yachts lined up in the harbor here in cannes. But weve been focused on marketing and advertising here at cannes lions. They call this, cheryl, the most creative week of the year for the Media Industry because youve got the creatives a and chief marketing officers coming to try to drum up business and give us a look at the year ahead in terms of wha what their advertising platforms look like. Cheryl and how do they get to the younger consumer, the younger viewer, the younger reader, thats whats sofas nateing. Digital so fascinating. Because Digital Media changed everything in the world. Maria theyre all facing that challenge. This is another indicator of the economy. If businesses are sitting on cash, that means theres uncertainty over there or if theyre spending more ad dollars, could be a positive indicator. How do you see the broad economy backdrop right now . I think youre getting great indicators out of all of r interviews. Talking about how ad spend is up, we did see cap ex numbers showing some signs of strength over the last couple months. The economy is doing really well and the consumer, its being driven by a resilient consumer here. Retail sales last week were outstanding. The important thing was that april numbers were also revised up and may numbers were solid. That is pushing gdp expectations for the Second Quarter above 2 , the atlanta gdp now estimated is at 2. 2 , up from 1. 4 before the report. Maria yeah, and i know the atlanta fed changes pretty often in terms of its expectations. The fed is beginning the twoday t meeting today. Were not expecting a cut in rates today but well see what happens down the road. Youve got to wonder what the 10 year is telling you. Youve got Interest Rates continuing at rock bottom levels. Cheryl right now, we havent seen a lot of action in the 10 year this week but it was certainly a market en indicatorf volatility going back about a month ago. I think if you start to see more interest in the safety of bonds, that could be another sign the feds going to have to look at. Im sure theyll talk about all this today. Lindsey brought this up to me during a commercial break, well have a press Conference Tomorrow from jay powell, the q and a part, he will be asked about the president , asked about the tariffs. I cant wait to see how he responds. Maria yeah. What do you think the messaging out of the fed, lindsey, will be when jay powell takes the podium tomorrow . Its going to be tough for him. Hes going to have to tap dance around a lot of difficult questions for sure. I think the message is going to be that the fed is willing to stand by the markets in case the tariff situation escalates and it impacts the Global Economic environment. So i think the market will be reassured by that. You also saw by the way the ecb came out today and dradi is out there saying hes willing to stand by and make changes should the economic environment weaken there. Maria theyre all standing by, ready to act, should things turn lower. Well see that. Right now, im not seeing evidence that things are slowing down all that much with the exception of the purchasing managers index, the pmi certainly. Well keep watching that. Joining the conversation this morning, we have the head of libra at facebook, david marcus is joining us. Theyre launching a new Digital Currency. Phillip Morris International chief operating officer is with us this morning to give us his sense of the global tori. The global chief marketing officer at lego is joining us and Senior Advisor sean spicer is here, the host of varney and co. Weighs in as well, stuart will join us later on in the show. Weve got a big two hours. President trump just tweeted, heres what the president is saying this morning. Mario dragi Just Announced more stimulus could p come which immediately dropped the euro against the dollar, making it unfairly easier for them to compete against the United States. Theyve been getting away with this for years, along with china and others, writes the president. And of course this is a key point that the president makes, because oftentimes when there is stress, these countries, whether it is mario dragi in the e. U. Or the president of china, lindsey, theyll devalue their currency. Oh, yes. China has been theyve been doing this for quite some time now. Its an offset to the tariffs that we have on chinese goods coming into the u. S. It makes those goods cheaper for us. So its a little bit of a relief for the consumer. It is an unfair practice. Currency should really purely be driven by free markets. Cheryl we should add that european markets really rose this morning on these comments by mario dragi. Markets love stimulus and they love low Interest Rates and hes giving them what they want it seems. Maria theres the rally in the european indices, no doubt the president will address this at his kickoff to the road to 2020, thats our top story right now. President trump is kicking off his new campaign in orlando, florida today. Tens of thoughtses of people are expected to be at that rally, many waiting overnight for a chance to get into the rally to see the president. Watch. Im a trump supporter. I think its important to come and support him and show him that we are behind him 100 and approve of his agenda. I love trump. I do. I love what he does as far as military families. We have lost some loved ones. So i really appreciate how he has taken care of the family members, the service members, the wounded warriors, the gold star families, all of them. Hopefully he sticks with the promises that hes made. He continues and just looking for another great four years. Maria joining me right now is former pollster for trump president ial campaign, jim mclaughlin. Good to see you. Thanks for being here this morning. Thank you. Maria whats your take on the president s chances for 2020 as he kicks off his new Campaign Today . Peace and prosperity usually wins elections and right now weve got a lot of prosperity. So i think his chances are really, really good right now. You know whats interesting . Last week, forget about all the polls that are out there because ive got be honest with you, and i say this as a pollster, a lot of the polls right now theyre totally irrelevant so far out from election day. But the truth is, look at those three economic models including one that was done from an economist that worked for president obama, they all said they thought not only was donald trump going to win, but he was going to win overwhelmingly. Its a great sign for President Trump. Maria even though youre seeing all of these attacks on the president daily by the democrats, they want to impeach him, theyre completely ignoring any positive impact of his economic policies, for example. Yes. And thats why its so important that the president is doing the announcement now. It was Perfect Timing to be quite honest with you, because its right before the first democratic debates and its going to set up the contrast. Because the contrast is going to be donald trump, historic economy, wages are going up, jobs are going up, the most recent report where we talked about, it was you actually have there were more job openings out there for the 14th straight month than there are jobs to be filled. So its telling you right now how strong that economy is and thats the contrast he wants to take. You look at the democrats, watch the democrats at their debates, theyre going to be calling for higher taxes and the average american understands that. Middle class america knows that higher taxes are job killers. And thats the contrast that the president wants from now until election day. Maria you know, i dont get that. Youve got to explain this to me. We know that the president s tax legislation and lower taxes actually put a spark in the economy. We saw 4. 2 growth last year in one quarter. Were talking about 3. 1 growth in the First Quarter of this year. So how is it that the democrats think that coming into office, raising taxes, is going to be a positive for the economy when we just saw the impact of the opposite . They have a big problem. They have an extreme radical liberal base that thinks this class warfare argument, going after the corporations, the job creators, going a after the 1 , they think it helps them. It may help them in a democratic pry mayor ribs it hurts them with middle class america. People understand, when you talk about the democrats say theyre going to tax the rich. The truth of the matter is, they get it that its going to be Small Businesses and the middle class that are going to get the bulk of the tax increases and thats whats going to hurt the economy and you know what, thats a great contrast for the president between now and election day. Maria you make a good point. The democrats are talking health care. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is vowing that democrats will fight relentlessly to stop President Trump from repealing obamacare. Watch this. The president and some on the other side of the aisle have had scores of bills to eliminate the Affordable Care act and we had to fight it every time to save it and then build it up bigger and grow it. Right now, we are in court with the president of the United States. The Affordable Care act is the law of the land. Its a place where the Justice Department is supposed to support the law of the land. Instead, the president has dieded that instead of decided that instead of supporting the law of the land, he will overturn the law of the land. It just doesnt make sense. Its not even it isnt even part of our belief as religious people. None the less, were in this fight. Maria is that resonating, jim . Healthcare is one of the Top Priorities for 2020. The president says he will roll out a new Healthcare Plan in a couple months. We dont know what that will be. He says it is going to be a key focus of his Reelection Campaign, though. That clip you just showed shows a real tension within the Democratic Party right now because most of the democrats that are running for president right now, theyre not supporting obamacare. Theyre the ones that want to repeal and replace obamacare with things like medicare for all, which we all know is going to mean medicare for none. The interesting thing is the republicans have done really well in the 201 20102014 electis when they ran against obamacare. I think youre going to see the president president do that again. What hes going to do is introduce proposals that make healthcare more affordable, more accessible. Thats what the American People are looking for. Maria you would think so. Jim, good to see you this morning. Thanks so much. Thank you. Always a pleasure. Maria coming up, more trouble this morning for boeing as one of the Top Competitors, airbus, lays the ground work for its longest range single aisle plane yet. We will tell you about it. The networking giant releasing the Details Behind the Digital Exchange at facebook. Ill talk with facebooks head of calibra, david marcus is here. Targeting tobacco, phillip Morris International coo will join me in cannes to talk about the fda crackdown on ecigarettes, particular neon and how it could hurt nicotine and how it could hurt the industry. Well talk to him coming up. Im dying inside. Got my head in a mess. Girl i confess. Im leaving, not coming back. Maria welcome back. President trump just tweeting again. Heres what he said. European markets rose on comments unfair to the u. S. , made today by mario d. , of course talking about mario dr a agi where weve seen the currency going lower. Were talking about stimulus this morning. The Federal Reserve kicked off a twoday meeting. Well hear from jay powell tomorrow. Tobacco industry has been growing for years, Phillip Morris aiming to get out of the smokeable tobacco and moving entirely to smokeless alternatives market as analysts say an fda proposal to limit nicotine could cost the industry 165 billion by 2035. Joining me right now is the chief operating officer of phillip Morris International. Its great to have you on the show this morning. Thank you for joining us. Tell me about this, in terms of thfdas move and what kind of impact it will have for Phillip Morris. The reason to get the smokers out of the com come com combuste cigarette, our thought is to get them into the alternative. I do believe if all the forces align, regulatory, consumer, communication, within 10 years we can get rid of smoking country by country. We never had the opportunity in front of us so close and so materially in what we can do. If i go to the countries where we started three andahalf years ago, the progress is tremendous. Smokers are looking for alternatives. The best way for them should be to quit smoking. But unfortunate thing is people dont quit smoking. We provide the products which today are vastly better than conventional cigarettes. Maria tell me the difference in terms of health, in terms of the impact on a persons body, cigarettes versus the vapes, like a juul product, or ecigarettes. The difference is in the level of satisfaction delivered to the smoker. There is the taste components. People smoke for the taste. Maria is there a health risk on vapes and ecigarettes as much as a health risk exists for cigarettes . No, they are not the same, none of the alternative products is riskfree. They do have a potential of being much lower risk to a consumer than continuing smoking. At the end of the day, its like [ indiscernible ] dont have a perfect product. This product is better than this one. The whole confusion, many people will say cigarettes are not theyre not riskfree. Youre passing the wrong message to consumers. It allows them to stay, forces them to stay in a conventional product. Maria people need to understand the difference. I dont think people have explained that very well. And then youve got this whole story about regulation. Are you expecting even further regulation of the industry . San francisco officials for example voting today on whether to ban ecigarette sales. I dont think its the right thing to do, frankly speaking. Maria it still needs another yes vote before the law but the legislation has been it could make San Francisco the first city to ban ecigarettes. There was a lot of emotional elements in the discussions. They should go back to the facts of. Ecigarettes are a better product than the conventional cigarette. I dont understand why you ban the better product while the sales of the other product is allowed. That doesnt make sense. For a company like phillip Morris International to make the statement, theyre willing to go smokefree, willing to solve the problem of smoking and i put my resources to go into this whole thing, i would expect that other people who are truly interested in solving the problem of smoking will go with me. And i hear from time to time there are interventions which dont really solve the problem. You have 40 million smoking americans. I think they do deserve better treatment. Maria youre right. Thats a good point. How have you changed your business as a result of all of this pushback on nicotine . We have decided that this is not additional product to our portfolio. If this product is better than cigarettes, lets get rid of cigarettes and were preferring every year were making progress. Today we sell 40 billion of our products in 48 markets. Were working for solutions for the market in general because we have to remember smoking is not just the habit if you like of the rich people. Its also you have people with lower income. We need a solution for those people. Maria real quick, before we go. Where is the growth at Phillip Morris coming from in the next five years. From new products. We stopped investing behind old products. This year alone, we shut down three we want to get rid of smoking. Maria thats fascinating you could shift your business in such a significant way. Thank you for joining us to talk about it. Good to see you. Coming up, facebook crypto is coming, the networking giant releasing the highly anticipated Details Behind the Digital Exchange. First, though, President Trump is just tweeting this morning. Heres what he just said. The fake news doesnt report it but republican enthusiasm is at an alltime high. Look what is going on in orlando, florida right now. People have never seen anything like it unless you play a guitar, going to be wild. See you later, the president of course is kicking off his 2020 Campaign Today in orlando. Hes gearing up for a big crowd this afternoon. All that coming up this morning. First, our top story this half hour, facebooks cryptocurrency, the social media giant is sharing plans for calibra, a newly formed subsidiary of facebook that will allow people to actually participate in the new libra Digital Currency. The Libra Network expected to launch a Digital Currency next year called libra. Dozens of company like spotify and uber and pay pal have signed on as partners for this. Well talk more about this coming up. You know, when you look at bitcoin and the success of bitcoin, Cheryl Casone, youve got to believe that theres a market for this and when you look at what has taken place in terms of the competitors to bitcoin, youve got to say that another Digital Currency further legitmizes the market. Cheryl it could be 10, 15 years out. Digital cryptocurrency has issues. Its got safety issues. There was a theft in the bitcoin exchanges in asia a month ago. Theyve got to be able to i think facebook will have to face this, make sure they have everything safely in place so you dont get that kind of theft. They have big partnerships that you talked about. But again, is it going to be bitcoin, another cryptocurrency, who knows, whether Goldman Sachs or jp morgan, the big banks in new york, on wall street, theyre looking at this market and even lloyd blankfine, he is saying bitcoin is a market he want to be a part of. Maria its funny. I love the jamie dimon story. Jamie dimon initially came out saying no way, were never going to trade bitcoin, its not what we do, were not believers, until his daughter made so much money on it. [ laughter ] maria she bought it and looked like a genius and he said wait a minute, let me look at that again. This is the first time were getting the list of companies that are actually participating, lindsey. When you see Companies Like ebay, spotify, pay pal, uber, theyve signed onto this partnership and there are others, Big Companies. Thats got to give it legs as well. I think it definitely gives it legs. It legitmizes it, this is the next evolution of cryptocurrency. Were in early stages within this asset class. Its good to see the companies piling on, joining forces with facebook, like i said earlier, this is going to be a cryptocurrency thats backed by government securities. Hopefully making it more stable and reliable option if youre looking to get into the crypto space. Maria it was really the Block Chain Technology that most people said that they believe in that. Now, facebook built its own block chain, cheryl, its 3w5eu6d obasedon that. People were saying im not a believer in Digital Currencies but im a believer in crypto. Cheryl you have to look at the companies and ask yourself, especially the large companies, if they would be willing to go into this market if it wasnt more solid and more safe and i think that that this news we got today out of facebook is telling us that it is. You did have a guest in the last hour, though, on the show talking about the issue of regulation. Youve already got the government going a after big technology. Not just the u. S. Government, but the europeans, so is there going to be more regulation on this market coming in the future as well as all these calls to break up big tech and alphabet and everybody else. Its a little bit of a question mark right now. Maria yeah, and you know, theyve been building out this cryptocurrency for over a year. I believe it was the wall street journal which first reported they were building this out and now today were getting the confirmation. David marcus is going to join us shortly to talk more about that. So well get back to that when david marcus joins us. Meanwhile, in terms of the broad story, lifting markets this morning, its got to be about the fed, ladies, right . The Federal Reserve is probably not going to cut rates today, although there is a portion of wall street and investors who think they will. Whats behind this rally here is the fact that it looks like whether its today or in the next couple of months, the next move from the fed is probably a cut. I think the ecbs commentary this morning about their willingness to deploy stimulus if necessary puts pressure on jay powell over the course of their meetings today and tomorrow and especially in the press Conference Tomorrow. So of course were expecting the fed to signal their willingness to be a little more accomodative if the situation arises where Economic Data starts getting much weaker than what we have seen. But we dont expect a move at this meeting. Maria all right. Well take a short break. Youve got to wonder what a 2. 03 10 year yield tells us about the economy. Well talk with facebooks david marcus on cryptocurrency when we come back. Stay with us. Introducing the first of its kind lexus ux and ux f sport, also available in hybrid allwheel drive. It started with the markets, bringing together steel and buildings and silicon and medicine and rockets. We believe the possibilities of life and investing are greater when we come together. Its why for eighty years weve connected ideas with technology, data with inspiration, investors with solutions. So that every day together, it all starts again. Maria welcome back. As promised, joining us right now is the facebook head of calibra, he is our special guest. David marcus. David, its great to have you on the program this morning. Thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me. Maria so the wall street journal has been reporting that youve been working on this Digital Currency for over a year. Can you tell us about libra and what youre unveiling this morning . Well, we are unveiling our plans for a new type of block chain, one that can actually scale to meet the demands of billions of people that we ultimately want to serve when it launches at some point next year. A new cryptocurrency which unlike other cryptocurrencies is not volatile, so its not an investment asset. Its designed from the groundup to be a medium of exchange, a great form of digitally native currency and all of that is actually going to be governed by a not for Profit Association that is going to be managed by its members and were starting with 27 other companies, this journey. Hopefully by the time this network goes live, over 100 different Global Organization thatorganizationsthat will heln this new network, this new currency. On the other side of that, which the association is something that will just be one of many governing, we will have a digital wallet called calibra that will both be a standalone app but also be embedded in whats app and messenger so that anyone can onramp and offramp to this new Digital Currency and pay one another across the world. Maria its interesting, this network of companies that youve already got onboard. Can you explain to us why libra is better or might be better than whats on the market already, like for example, bitcoin. I think two differences. First of all, the companies, the reason that we couldnt go alone here is because if you want to build an internet of money or a protocol for value on the existing internet, this is not something that should be controlled by one company. It should be controlled and governed as a public good, the same way the internet is. Eventually, well get there. But to start, we had to ensure that this was governed by a number of institutions a and Global Organizations and not by facebook. And then to your question on how different it is than bitcoin, i think the first thing is bitcoin today, i see it as an investment as he eassetinvestmentas corret assets. Its not a great mead yu mediumf exchange. Bitcoin is volatile. Which is its feature if youre looking at it from an investment standpoint. The other difference is the network on top of which libra will run and this block chain is designed from the groundup to be able to process thousands of transactions per second, eventually, so meeting the demands for potentially billions of people that will end up hopefully one day using this new network and asset. Maria so david, answer the critics because obviously facebook has faced plenty of criticism over privacy concerns, privacy breaches, thats the Business Model, selling peoples data to advertising. So is that going to be addressed now that money is involved . How do you square the circle on this and get peoples trust, given the fact that theres been a breach of trust in the last couple of years . Well, thats a really good question. Obviously something weve thought about for a very long time. So first and foremost, to use libra, you will not need to use a facebook product if you dont want to. There will be plenty of wallets offering Similar Services than calibra will offer. You can choose whatever wallet you want. All wallets will be interoperable with one another. They run on top of the same network. If we want people to trust us with this new service, well have to basically deserve their trust and the way that we are doing this is that weve created this separate entity that is going to be regulated entity, calibra, and we heard people loud and clear. They dont want their Financial Data comingled with social data and they dont want Financial Data being used for ad targeting and all these things and so thats what were doing. Basically facebook inc. Will not have access to Financial Data that youll have inside of calibra. So were clearly separating things and we create a lot of competition on this network that we helped start. Maria real quick, is this an effort by facebook to diversify the business, given the issues on the privacy breach side . Sorry, i couldnt hear the beginning of your question. Maria is this your effort to diversify the business, given the fact that you faced criticism over the privacy breaches . You look at some of your early investors, like roger mcnamee. He was such a fan and remains a huge investor. Hes been on the program and said this is the companys Business Model, theres nowhere to go, this is what they do. So is this your effort to diversify the revenue stream to broaden out so youre not married to that revenue stream only, selling peoples data to advertisers . Well, first of all, let me just defend our Business Model for a second because i think its a great Business Model, actually, and i dont think that the Business Model is the issue here. First of all, were not selling data to advertisers and the ability for us to actually run ads on the platform is the way we offer the service for free to billions of people around the world. This is the way that 90 million Small Businesses are actually growing their businesses because they have an ability to reach new customers and it powers the economy of Small Businesses around the world. So the Business Model at facebook is not the issue. I think that there are number of things that we should have done better over the past few years but youve seen that weve invested and were continuing to invest a great deal to improve with those things and now with this new network, were even going a step further which is basically relinquishing a lot of our governance and a lot of our influence over this network that we helped create to create a level Playing Field and basically compete with others. Maria yeah, well, it certainly is a hot spot. David, great to see you. Thanks so much. Thank you. Maria david marcus joining us at facebook. Coming up, were looking at lego. Stay with us. Welcome back. Lego, one of the most beloved toy brands ever for decades, kids and adults enjoying the plastic building blocks. Joining me right now is the chief marketing officer of lego global, julia gol julia golden. What has been the impact of lego to lego, rather, when you see things like gaming and other entertainment really rising in popularity as well . Have you seen an impact . Well, kids change all the time. And of course the world has changed a lot and what we see is that kids very much enjoy what they called fluid play. We do a lot of insights and investigations with kids, we observe them, we talk to them. What they like is switching between the different worlds. So that has created a lot of opportunity for them to engage with them in different ways. Kids have always loved Digital Games from lego. That has been in existence for a long time. Were connecting the digital and physical experience. We have a new thing coming out this year, called hidden side. Thats where kids can build physically and enjoy augmented Reality Experience around the set that they build which brings the world to life. So its created a lot of opportunity for us to tap into new ways in which kids play and also new ways of engaging with them. Maria youve got to sell this in terms of marketing. Tell us how your marketing has changed to engage new audiences. Well, marketing has definitely gone through a big revolution and evolution over the past few years because of the invention of digital and and digital platforms. Engaging with kids, we tend to be audience focused. We really try to understand what theyre into, what passions they have. We also want to make sure we engage with them in a safe way, so marketing model has definitely evolved. Before it was focused on traditional media. Now, we engage a lot more in the Digital Space. We also have other ways of engaging, for example, we launched our own digital platform called lego life, a digital platform for kids and they really love it. We have lego youtube, lego tv, theres a lot of different ways in which we are delivering content to them and engaging them. Maria that is so fantastic. I love your business card. Its a little lego with your name and number on the back. Its just sofa so fascinating. Youre continuing to grow at lego. Absolutely. We have a very strong purpose which is to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow. For us, every child is that opportunity. Maria julia, thank you so much. Congratulations. Julia golden from lego. Well be right back. Thank you. Thanksno problem. Youre welcome. This is the durabed of the all new chevy silverado. It looks real sturdy. The bed is huge. Welcome back to Tuesday Morning everybody thanks so much or for joining us im Maria Bartiromo it is tuesday june 18th your top stories right now, 8 a. M. On east coast markets are rallying this morning. As we kick off the first day of the twoday Federal Reserve meeting today and tomorrow. We are expecting commentary from jay powell tomorrow will he suggest Interest Rates are coming down . Dow industrials up 148 points right now you also have the u. S. Trade representative Robert Lighthizer testifying for the senate today on china trade and china so see what comes out of that but going into both of these Events Markets are strong nasdaq up 80 points right now. Better than 1 . Yesterday markets were higher with boeing really the big highlight adding 52 points to the dow industrials. As you can see the market would have been negative if not for boeing yesterday. In europe this morning, marpghts are higher there as well. We have news out of the European Central Bank President mario signaling more stimulus is coming. To europe, s p 500 up 75 point better than paris, and one and twothirds in the dax in yerm is up 182 points one and a half percent on top of gains in asia overnight. Mostly heyer with the exception of japan actually as you see hong kong did well up 1 on the session. All of this as rates are going down. Take a look at the tenure treasury ul paing this morning now the a 21 month low at. 01 this is a decline in this yield for the sixth day in a row. U. S. Is sending energy to the middle east what it means for price of oil this morning and a potential of more unrest between the u. S. And iran. And then theres the border crisis President Trump says that i. C. E. Will begin removing millions of Illegal Immigrants next week. Well talk it be plus facebook starts media creating new Digital Space sending stock up in premarket. Stock up one and a half percent, the head of the new cryptocurrency telling me about big plan for the 2020 launch. He defend the Business Model on facebook as well. All of those stories coming up this Tuesday Morning and joining me is Cheryl Casone along with lindsay belle, interesting story there around facebook guys. Yeah. That question about he did defend the Business Model youre right but i love that question you asked him about are there problems within the walls of facebook he defended his company he did what he should have done but wonder if you go in businesses and delivering my groceries in year that was the great question. Well you know stock is up one and a half percent you wonder if this is an effort to expand the revenue base, i mean, i recognize that facebook is wildly successful. But there are also major issues around privacy. You know you talk to roger who was one of the early a investors in facebook and hes constantly talking about a broken Business Model. Yeah. I think that i think that this is definitely a way for facebook to expand into other Business Units and thats really important for them because, because the growth on their facebook platform is maturing instagram is doing well an theyre find more ways to put ads on that, application, and theyre looking for ways to monetize whats app and messager but i think that analysts are really excited about this being another opportunity another area of revenue. Yeah. For sure all right we have fed meeting and lindsay theres expectation here, that the next move from the fed is going to be down. Because this market is on fire, right heated of a twoday fed meeting. J i think expectations are getting hotter for the fed really to put on a tone tomorrow when they release their press release, and then also when Jerome Powell releases that press release is announced so i think that market really that pricing in almost three rate cuts this year. I dont think we necessarily need them but funny because you see domestic economy doing really well yet market is really pushing for a rate cut that in my opinion isnt necessarily needed. Real quick maria were going to be getting some housing data at a 8 30 eastern time that is Something Else that the fed watches. What are what the prmts doing and what starts Mortgage Rates e falling recently thats a data point that kind of all plays into how markets react to fed meeting today and tomorrow. It is a point cheryl a Building Permit and really the Construction Industry so well be on that in 25 minutes meanwhile our trade testifying before the Senate Finance committee today, as President Trump gears to kick off his 2020 campaign with hundreds of supporters waiting in long lines overnight. Hes in florida headed there ratter Hillary Vaughn with latest right now shes at the white house. Hillary good morning to you. Rng good morning maria u. S. Trade representative will be on capitol hill today a talking a china trade an trying to convince congress to push through u. S. Msa but one major road block is how Speaker Nancy Pelosi who said he will not bring up the deal up for a vote unless major confessions are made. Lighthizer will testify before the Senate Finance committee today before the house weighs and Means Committee tomorrow, both mexico and canada have already taken steps to move forward with the u. S. Mta but pelosi wants agreement to have some change hads including Labor Protections and some environmental provisions lighthizer is expected to address current trade tensions with china and lawmakers want to know if there aren plays for a facetoface between President Trump and president xi g20 in japan later this week. The president sound off this morning on European Central Bank President mario after he indicated they might cut best rates again, the president tweeting this moments ago, quote, mario Just Announced more stimulus could come that dropped row against dollar making it unfairly easier for them to compete against the usa. They have been getting away with this for years. Along with china, and others he continues european markets rose on comments unfair tows made today by mario d. Now today the president officially announces hes Reelection Campaign for president in orlando, florida, today thousands of people camped out overnight waiting to see the president make announcement today. Maria. All right hillary thank you so much. Hillary vaughn,ed at the white house this morning keep following that hillary, thank you joining me right now former White House Press secretary in America First action Senior Advisor sean spicer good to see you thank you so much for weighing in here. Good to see you i wish i was over there with you, though, it sounds a lot more fun. [laughter] j well it is pretty fun i must say. [laughter] but what about florida thats going to be a lot of fun right, i mean, youve got lines of people that the base for President Trump is at solid as ever what do you expect from the kickoff from the 2020 campaign . In florida no surprise florida and ohio are key to the president victory to get over 270 lek tomorrow votes and you have michigan, pennsylvania, minnesota, ping is going to be in play but i think you see this election play over about five to eight states where the electoral map needs to take shape so president is having it here a opportunity to fire up space to make sure they understand intensity to proel them to victory to take florida basically off the map. Right ohio, florida, North Carolina are state president needs he needs to get in early make sure that those folks are fired up. The real difference between last year and thisser year is the sophistication by which the campaign and r about nc are working together with America First registering voters in florida and try other states spending 20 million making sure that all of those people who turn out the support the president thousands of them are registering to vote are you know, are engaged in this system, and the team has got this sophisticated data operation to make sure that voters by voter we know exactly who is beginning out to vote, who might go out to vote, and who is sitting on sidelines. But this is going to be the much more sophisticated operation than it was last time and ting thats going to give the president a huge strategic advantage coupled with first vapg in the first term. Yeah what about issues at hand shawn so would iran crisis come up is the president going to deal with some of the things that hes dealing with every day, i mean, now thaws is preparing to send a thousand additional troops to the middle east to respond to what that the calling hostile behavior by iran we what happened in last two weeks. Iran says it is beginning to exceed its cap on enrich uranium stockpiles against 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal or issues like this do you think, going to come up where the president talks this with his supporter . Theres two things one is policy and other is politics but it is interesting that president the pentagon announce a thousand Troop Movement to the region, president of iran seems to at least have backed down from the rhetoric so far. I think he had recognizes how serious this president is, and that idle threats towards United States are going to be taken lightly so i think on policy side the president has made the right move. I expect to see iran come down. Other thing that i think is interesting on policy front is this is a president who pulled out of the iran deal because he said it was a bad deal look what is going on as iran had already been doing everything they can to get out of the deal that still is in effect with europe all of the european krpghts now to this deal proving you think this degree of the president was right. That this deal was not a good deal for the u. S. And iran was going cheat. Second on the political front to your question, i dont think youre going to see a to be ton of this come up American People focused on foreign issue of issues specific to one country in one region, hes going to be talking a about how their lives are better specifically my guess is youre going to see a lot of talk on the economy, things that specific to different constituency in United States. Military members with, veteran, et cetera, Small Business is with respect to cutting regulation, tax cuts how theyre affecting peoples lives. All of those kind of things that make people better, the age old question are you better off than you were four years ago would likely get posed in some way shape or form over the course of the president remarks and pick off a list of ways it has and promises hes kept over the last few years. Yeah also the border issue right and president has been saying that mexicans, mexico government is doing more to help border crisis than democrats so you know that the democrats and the attacks on him are also going to be front and center hell probably bring that up as well. Unequivocally. Look, this is gone from people saying that there was no crisis just a few months ago to now questioning what we have to do with the president and has been consistent through his tile as a candidate now as president that we have a problem at the southern border. Weve seen it grow greater and greater with this migration of folks coming straight up. The key thing is, though, that he is finally sped up to Mexican Government and you have seen real and a tangible result it is in terms of what mexico is doing at southern border to preskt flood of people up through central america. Youre also seeing additional provisions that they have used this new Central Police and their military to our southern border stop people before they get in and actually having what appears real results the president once again has you know alonged at this problem and delivered for american but make no mistake hes going to make it very clear that contrast that exist between him and his policies stapgding up for this country protecting our southern border and democrats seemingly advocate for open borders and mocking this crisis as being something thats not there when it is so apparent to every american with us. It is obvious do you have a role . Registering voters were going to be making sure we supported that. So yeah my role are is with the superpack it is a much more enjoyable role than past with great folks as i mention working at the a rn krrgs and campaign hand and glove day to day but i think America First is for me a much more calming, calming president to be part of this role. L we will be watching it will be an exciting year ahead. Shawn, thank you sean spicer great to get your insight see you soon, shawn. Coming up nor trouble from boeing to report one of its Top Competitors err a bus is is lay ground wok for the longest range single aisle plane yet. Do it while boeing is down. Some of the folks saying this will allow company to become ecommerce platform shares to open 2 higher as you can see maria you spoke earlier with the markets heres what he said about about privacy. Listen. We heard people loud and clear they dont want their Financial Data comingled with their social data, and they certainly dont want their Financial Data being used for ad targeting all of these they think, and so thats what were doing. With basically facebook inc. Will not have access to Financial Data that youll have inside of libra. So analysts saying this has been a significant endorsement of cryptois yourcurrency back t. Thank you so much gerri willis on yet this morning quick break and permit building and bring you numbers check Market Reaction as soon as they hit the tape and saving for retirement Many Americans could be outlive their savings by years. Find out how many and the tips to make your money last. Back in a minute. Welcome back retirement in america men in the u. S. Could outlive their savings by 8 years. Women by 11 years. To a new report from World Economic form joining me no talk about that Ramsey Solutions author of every day millionairess chris hogan is with pus again a pleasure to see you chris how are you doing is today . J im doing well thank you maria if this is new information to you you know theres a risk that weout live our money. We are living longer. And were not saving enough. How do you get on track . Well maria, the first thing people have to do is understand that no one is going to show up to save the day. Social security may be insolvent may or not there so question of to get intentional and start to plan for ourselves and control our actions. But how do you do that chris . A lot of people have their steady income coming in. Thats what theyre expecting and theres not a lot of room for savings after you get through all of the bills. Well maria the first thing we have to do is understand that we have to be to become a money boss that means were going to tell our money where to go instead of wondering why it went so step number one is to understand your debt. What is going out . Whats leaving you . How much money are you specking on credit card and car payment and then job one needs to be a tax to get your money back. I want you to be in control. Step two qowb really sit down to get on a budget understanding difference between wants and needs your utility, rent or mortgage food and transportation these are i think this is that you have to take care of. But the grocery bills and eating out these are all things that we can take more control of and if we control that money we can start to invest more for the future. Its a great point here. What do you recommend for people who dont have a employer 401 k savings plan they dont have an option out there what do you tell people if they need to start to save . Cheryl thats a very, very good point and people dont have access to employer sponsor plan like 401 k and 403b but we have options out there. There are ir airings and roth ira that people can do and if youre employed there are steps and 401 k plans to invest in so step one qowb connect with an investment professional that you can begin to talk about your dreams and goals with, and they can begin to guide you to tools that are available for you and your situation. What if youre older and behind on your savings for retirement whats the quickest way to get caught up . Ming well quickest way is to really understand exactly where you are versus where you want to be. I tell people what the free tool ill have riq the potion you have to start with your dream and understand where you are but if youre behind eight ball you may need to make extreme money moves loo at downsize your home or taking on extra job so you can start to save more for yourself for the future. Yep. It is a great point chris we still appreciate you joining us. Thank you so much. Chris hogan joining us there and show you futures we are high at morning on a dramatic reversal from the central bank, earlier this morning signal that the ecb may consider a large scale easing package as soon as july. And that is one of the otherst boost to the market today and certainly the urine europe inked cease coming up awaiting may Building Permits and do that when we come right back. Stay with us. It all started under this buttonwood tree. Twentyfour people came together to sign an agreement that created the stock exchange. Just the right elements coming together. It started when scores more people came together, just down the street and traded bonds that helped pay for the revolution, and the nation it created. It started in an office on the corner where the right people witnessed the telegraph and brought information and humanity together forever. It started with the markets, bringing together steel and buildings and silicon and medicine and rockets. We believe the possibilities of life and investing are greater when we come together. At the 2019 cannes lions good Tuesday Morning thanks so much for joining us from live tuesday june 18th breaking news on the and i right now, building perms and Housing Starts due out in just about half a minute. We will bring you those numbers we are expecting Building Permits to come in at 1. 2 Million Units and Housing Starts 1. 239 Million Units. Markets are pointing to higher opening this morning the Housing Starts very close to the estimate 1. 269 the fractionally below estimates very much a good number anyway. And Building Permits also fractionally lower than expectation which was 1. 294 is the number that were getting on building perms this morning. The markets are strong this morning as you can see weve got a triple digit rally underway as Dow Jones Industrial afnlg is up 163 points taking from european markets ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting futures pointing to a rally at the start of trading as fed kicks off twoday meeting and u. S. Trade representative Robert Lighthizer testifies before senate todays on china trade and usmsa now rally started earlier in europe because we have a dramatic about face from European Central Bank President mario. Mario earlier this morning signaling that the ecb may consider a large scale easing package as soon as july. Possibly a restart of qawn quantitative easing and up 8 and dax index up now 217 points. This is all in reaction to the European Central bank signaling more stimulus is on the way and that is fueling u. S. Markets well. Big rally underway in asia overnight check numbers higher across board for the most part although japan was down. Ek average down three quarter of a percent. Hong kong up 1 Interest Rates move lower, signaling that is where we continue to go. The yield is at 2. 03 that is a sixth straight decline in the tenure yield. Indicating yields are going lower, does that mean that economy is going were waiting for data meanwhile reacting to breaking news right now we are looking at markets trade higher and i want to get panel in here because lindsay your reaction to what mario did, i mean, youre talking about a return to quantitative easing in europe i dont think that European Central bank has a lot of wiggle road here right what do they do go negative but signaling that a rate cut could be included in further stimulus. Thats why you saw euro fall in reaction to news signaling weakness you saw in economy also saw the german bond decline to lowest level ever a decline of 30 basis points. And thats why youre seeing also the u. S. Tenure treasury yield come down because if youre ans investor you dont want to pay to be in german but come over here to u. S. To put your money here and now fed just a reminder to your viewers, the reason that the market believes that the fed is going to going to, you know, have a dubbish today and signal potential for rate cuts a has to do request Inflation Expectation and declined significantly we got last week some cpi data that was slightly weaker than expected. And you know with Oil Prices Going down, wages, they were up 3 in latest reading. But thats still kind of stalling out so expectations for inflation to come down and see what a fed says in their growth expectations which they will announce today as well. Theyll talk about Economic Growth theyll talk about Interest Rate expectations, but that along with the dubbish tone of a lot of fed governors as theyve spoke over the networks over the last several weeks kind of indicates the markets that theyre going to pull back, obviously, what happened in europe this morning will put pressure on fed and fowl this week. All right. Certainly feels cheryl that were going to see European Central bank cut accompanied by Federal Reserve cut at some point. Even though that metric for the economy continue to be strong well see what happens towards your i could were still talking ab 3 growth spur in the u. S. Strong gdp that was the full yore and quarter to quarter numbers weve been seeing but housing start and perms that was for the number when is that report came out and ybl i want to look at it because of the feds looking at it when they start that meeting today, and civil family starts a little more pressure on Single Family homes. Thats when you really look within housing industry to see strength. I mean those of us first time home buyers in particular, and it was actually more pressure on that and then you know nhb kale out and miss estimates on monday there was actually pressure there. So im kind of wongd whearg fed will make of that data also a the flipside that have could be weve seen the 30 year Mortgage Rate actually tick dun and get a new number this week but right now 3. 82 on 30 year thats good for housing. So im curious how fed will react to all of this incoming data. Really good point because falling Mortgage Rate has been a positive for Housing Market worried about Housing Market but Mortgage Rates where they are is a pretty good boost so keep watching that twoapght look at u. S. China trade as well. Connell has been doing incredible job in china this week. Drone maker hitting big here in the u. S. But there could be turbulence ahead with that with exclusive look behind scenes at dji drones. Well dpght of Homeland Security recently put a memo out qarng that drone that are made here in china potentially could be collecting data, and sending it back to Mainland China now you think about the drone business, the company at the forefront is dji it wasnt mentioned in memo but this was a World Largest drone company, that many until recently didnt know. It was chinese and head quartered, and dji took us on a tour of the show room and demonstrated its latest and greatest emphasizing that your data is not their business with over 14,000 employees, dji says its purpose is pretty simple. Just trying to innovate as quickly as a possible. We consider ourselves a Global Company. We feel our technology and company is applicable everywhere and work as we can to realize the potential of this technology for everywhere that we can. But we say significant is an area with a tremendous amount of growth, since weve got part 107 i think weve seen roughly 500 increase in adoption, and frankly a lot of the way that this starts is that someone will own a priefltly and also be say parttime firefighter and then bring it to his work place hey guys this is incredibly useful tool for us. You know. So drone business you think about drones for personal use, certainly maybe for shooting video but dji officials we spoke to said search and rescue thats really a growing part of their business. Back to you. Welcome back American Economy a bright spot on royal stage joining me host of Varney Company to qaig in as fed begins two day on Interest Rates and we got suggestions of even more stimulus coming out of europe this morning, stu. Im going putt than the economy is doing well, my opinion when it comes to money, america is the only game in town. And money is pouring into the United States. Point number one when you put your money in a america, you get a rate of return. You get interest. You get yield if im a money manager in say germany, am i put a billion dollars into the German Government into a bond fond there. They only give me back 997 million. They keep 3 million of my money. But if i put that billion into america to a treasury security, the interest i is 20 million. No wonder the money is pouring in here. Secondly, it is safe. We offer a rate of return and safety. Think about it. If youre a money manager in hong kong, youre going keep your money there, youre going to put your money into china no youre not you can smell tear gas they have problems so youre going put it over here same in london European Financial Center put money into europe no youre not over here. Money is pouring in our Interest Rates are going way down, we are the only game in town. We are the standout and i would expect the president to say thing about that had tonight when he kick off his campaign for 2020 in orlando. I think were looking at the hill maria king of the hill. Yeah hes got a great story to tell for sure even if we were to see a slowdown later on in the year it is a great story to tell, and, obviously, the policies coming out of washington President Trumps policies on deregulation, on lower taxes, have truly moved needle in Economic Growth no doubt. Only exactly. Theyve moved the needle. In had been 15 steps. Youve got it. Ill see you top of the hour stu thanks so much. Stuart will be at the top of the hour on Varney Company as always 9 a. M. Join stuart with a lot more on that. Coming up changes face of advertising affecting world leading market executives. Thats the goal of the see her movement launched in 2016 the mission, achieve a 20 rise in eliminating gender bias in the industry. I sat down with some of the leading chief marketings officers in the world. To find out what theyre doing to get the job done and how theyre allocating capital today. Given fact that bank of america was in the traditional sense you would think money is really geared at men in the past but thats changed in the last couple of decades women actually command much more money than people really thought of so how do you reach that audience . Psmghts great thanks. It is so wonderful to be here today, and this is such an important topic at bank of america. And first of all i think this all starts with your culture as a company. And at the bank our 50 over 50 of our global work force are female, 40 of our manager and 30 of our board so really it starts inside of the companys as you think about women and as maria said you look at money over 14 trillion dollars held by money, women are outliving men theyre making Purchase Decision theyre head of the household in making many of their financial decisions. So how we think about women and one interesting fact when you think about women in investing theyre less overconfident youre selling toilet paper. And you are doing it by marketing in the bathroom. Tell us about that. J well weve done these few things. We spoke about in ways to portray women in our content and place that portrays women more accurately but reverse and portray men in our media, and that we did not put the women in cliche roles as the mom. The idea of gender equality has resonated beyond it is not Just Marketing it is not just you know, at the advertising community. Stacey you just came back from negotiating the sees her contract with labor unions. I thought that see her was this really great opportunity to take action to really say okay you guys. As labor eye on you as industry you value equality and diverse withty lets put it into action so what we did is we negotiated into the agreement specific language where s. A. G. After now acknowledges see her and agreed to you know, roll out a partnership with the industry. Because again it is the performers who we are asking to play these roles and the programming to your point that it goes in. So you know, it is advertising, it is the product themselves. But then it is all of hollywood. Youre seeing something that doesnt that is exclusionary that doesnt include certain groups as a customer as a consumer, you dont you dont want to buy that product. So give us a sense of how these things resonate with customers. Not only do our assets go well with women in the gym score but higher with men. But what theyre saying exactly what you said maria that it is more appealing to them to man when women are portrayed proper ly. Feels authentic sometimes we see advertising that doesnt look authentic so if you do that, it will not resonate with people. We talk about about millennial and reaching this younger audience, what about the women today who are middle aged older who have money to spend . Right. At this point theyre rich. Yeah ones we should be portraying while it was older overwhelm dont get respect often and one thing we did with them is we learn more older single women traveling by themselves. Wow. Thats a pretty big insight what do they need . Instead of positioning them in a way youre not target them look at the life theyre leading. That is number one rule here is know your audience. I mean, and they can i mean the customer can sniff out anything. So i agree like you can push it to as far as you want. But as soon as it becomes contrive or forced you can tell them the other way. That was great panel talking a about marketing today, i want to bring back my panel in new york this morning, and we are looking at the same issues for Big Companies trying to reach women trying to reach young people and doing so with their marketing. This i learned a lot at this conference guys because there are these little tweaks that companies do and it really does change the dynamic for customers they see that company their product in a different way depending how theyre marketed. J i love theyre targeting older women who choose not to have children or personal stand point but they have the income to spend, but i also love that the bank of america cmo said theyve seen in the past many men have been, quote, unquote underconfident in investing arrogant might be another way. Weve seen study after study maria that says that women a lot of times are better investors than men and over 3 talking about this but it is really true. Theyre smart to talk to these audiences. For sure yeah i mean i always thought that was a generalization but i think it is really true that you know women tend to look at investing over the longterm where in some cases men want that shortterm trade. It is a generalization doapght get me wrong lindsay. I think youre looking skeptically but in the same time in cases ive studied this plays out thats what it is. Men try to want that, you know, big, big win over the shortterm. Absolutely. And i think plenty of research has shown that with women are better investors than men because of that because they take longer for you they do homework but i liked what your male panelist said because it is about women appropriately in ads and as they market to those customer but also portraying men appropriately because men are caregivers more are really involved in a family, and once this stigma breaks arked men having certain stereotypical roles then the woman can also come out and really pursue her goals and dreams as well. S its a great point to make and executive said when you portray women well men like that as well they want to see honesty in terms of how people are portrayed more marketing marketing breaking newsing right now.
