The president to use his landmark first address to the u. N. General assembly to outline his America First agenda. White house Officials Say it tends to appeal to member countries to promote sovereignty in the face of topdown governance. Singin is the president previewed during brief comments he made yesterday at the u. N. We seek a United Nations that ricci is trust of the people around the world in order to achieve this, the United Nations must hold every level of management accountable, protect whistleblowers and focus on results rather than process. To honor the people of our nations, we must ensure that no one and no member state shoulders a disproportionate share of the burden. And that is militarily or financially. Maria Officials Say the president will call out countries like iran and north korea by name when it comes to nuclear weaponry. Join us as fox news news military analyst and retired fourstar general jack keane. Wonderful to see you again. Thanks for joining us. What does the president means when he says he wants to call these countries out. When it comes to threats in particular for north korea, what should we expect . It is interesting to watch the trump doctrine so to speak his last eight months because hes done a couple things that eliminated anybody sad about President Trump and his aspirations for Global Leadership. Number one companies reassured our allies in the far east, middle east and europe that the United States has got their back. Secondly, very important part of his Foreign Policy as hes willing to confront our adversaries in a way his predecessor never has. He will do that im confident in his speech today for their abhorrent behavior and aggressive assertiveness and what they are doing in terms of trampling on u. S. Interests and also those of our allies. What is really about is building a constituency on the world stage in the u. N. That we should collectively stand up to this kind of aggression and that includes russia china because we are in big power competition again with them than they are also taking advantage at least in the past of the United States and allies. Maria you would think that is not brain surgery. You would think this is an easy one comment that he is having this kind of sentiment right now in the face of what this country faces. The senate easily passed a nearly 700 billion defense bill backing President Trump scald for bigger and stronger military. The house passed its version of the bill back in july. The two now have to be reconciled before Congress Considers the final version. What you expected the final compromise to look like . Is this what you believe the country needs right now . We talked about the lack of strength in our military right now and the lack of readiness. This is a step in the right direction. To give you a sense, the congressional leadership that deals with the defense issue is so concerned about the department of defense and erosion of its capabilities that they bumped up President Trump submission to them by 30 to 40 billion in the house and senate. Though go to conference to resolve the differences they have, that they are not major differences. All that said, it will still take a month or so. Then they will send something to the president to sign. Before this becomes law and defends the money is going to be appropriated by the appropriations committees, what will have to happen is the budget caps will have to be removed and that will take in the senate 60 votes to get that removed and the democrats may not go along with it. What we are seeing here come the big step in the right direction. Applaud the committees that voted for it. By the way, democrats on those committees voted for this legislation and testimony to the leadership on those committees and also a democrat sitting on the defense committees that know how seriously the problems are inside the united its military. But we do have a major coalition coming probably after the holidays and the appropriators sit down and can they really write the checks for that. Theyll have to get the budget caps removed to require another vote legislation to do it. Maria does that go up against other legislation hes trying to do . A major fight through the end of the year, as i pointed above against tax reform . It is all interwoven, obviously, with the republicans and democrats can agree on anything. Here, there has been a Significant Education inside the congress about the seriousness of the problems the United States military has and i hope the democrats can put their National Security hat on and take the antitrump had often vote for what is right for security of the American People. Maria its got to be six months, eight months ago, you and i were speaking about this subject and i said wow, you really scared by their creator marked about one of the comments of the readiness of our planes in a week ago the wall street journal wrote about it. You told us this coming talking about the navy and you told me, what was the percentage of ships that are not ready . U. S. Airplanes. They go from 40, 50, 60 not ready. What happens is the missions are still out there. We have to perform them and we do with less airplanes and that creates more and readiness because they start to break after a while. It is no accident that the mishaps have gone up in the services and aviation and also some of the problems the navy has them convinced theyll related to this readiness issue. Trend to the train accidents bring it to the forefront now. The number of accidents just recently. General, or thoughts on this. President trump met with french president emanuel macron yesterday where he gushed about the frances military might on display when he attended the field Day Celebrations in july in paris. Who we may do Something Like that on july 4th in washington on pennsylvania. [laughter] we will have to try and top that. A lot of money going over, a lot of military might can do is really a beautiful thing to see. Maria these two look like they get along quite well. What you think of the military parade july 4th . I like it. We all know in smalltown america and cities, the patriotic parades, not usually having a lot of military involved in it. Not all available to do Something Like that. They think appropriate that that covered the American People would love. They would still celebrate fourth of july in their hometowns. A lot of people come to washington was certainly enjoy it. We have a military concert in the early evening followed by fireworks in washington d. C. , a parade early in the day. I think its a terrific idea. Defense secretary jim mattis confirming the u. S. Will send the additional 3000 troops to afghanistan which would bring the total number of u. S. Troops to more than 13,000. What do you think the mission will be. What is your take on the additional 3000 . I suspect they were continued to be people to help advise the National Security forces on the ground. Hopefully closer to the battlefield so they can make more of a difference. Maybe some special Operation Forces in there to increase the counterterrorism leadership. The major issue here is pakistan. We have got to apply whole of government pressure on pakistan to shut down sanctuaries for the taliban are taking refuge. No counterinsurgency has ever succeeded against insurgents in the history of the latter safe haven outside the combat zone or the Afghan Taliban had two of them. Its outrageous. The Trump Administration is making a commitment to do something about this. They failed miserably in achieving that end. This is something that has to take place or we cannot exceed. Maria what do you feel will be a successful speech when the president is done . Should he be mentioning afghanistan . Is that the right . Mostly this is american exercising Global Leadership in the world stage is 193 nations. The thing i applaud about President Trump, im not server on trend sure during the campaign. Hes put American Leadership in the world stage promoting prosperity, peace, stability and security and a willingness to confront allies. That will be in his speech today as much as it was at the speech in poland and the one in paris as well. Maria general good to see you. Thanks so much. Coming up next, maria aiming for puerto rico. When youre in a thunderstorm, once your wet, once your wet coming or so. Once youre destroyed you can get were destroyed. It does mean that Building Back will be an enormous project. These folks are in for a world of hurt. We were so focused on the damage here to the United States from the last couple of storms. We have to remember they were hit much harder in this place is dozens of deaths that we didnt get in the United States in part because the hurricanes will weaken as they make landfall on caribbean islands. Maria despite past farms, the new Associated Press analysis reports americans want to live near the sea, but two of the Fastest Growing regions, coastal texas around houston and southwest florida. You are still seeing growth in people to live there. Something to keep in mind. Growth is happening with extraordinary focus on hurricane resistant construction. And also, here in the United States, if people continue to live and build and grow in florida in the gulf coast, weve got to figure out a way to sue individual fit the bill, but in the case of houston and Hurricane Harvey, and the insurance only covered about 15 of the losses. I was largely flooded. Im going to tell you something. The people building today are paid very dearly for insurance. Is maria my point is the loss and Hurricane Harvey in texas was not insured. People not required to then buy Flood Insurance. When we do these emergency spending packages and we have subsidized Flood Insurance programs. Dialing up another iphone deal. How you can get the next generation of apple smartphone from free from sprint. All the deals you want to know about it. Senate republicans are considering writing a budget that creates room for 1. 5 billion tax cut over the next decade. Thats according to wall street journal this morning. Its unclear how big of a tax cut the Trump Administration will support and any plan would need support from at least 250 50 senators. Lets talk about this, Jon Hilsenrath, what do you think. Jon i think they will get behind on anything at this point. Maria he wants to cut taxes. Jon 1 and a half trillion dollar number still has to be negotiated. There are hawks in the senate and also in the house that want revenueneutral bill. What we learned from the story which i helped edit last night is we are talking about the party is moving toward something thats not going to be renew revenue neutral. What it means that some of the tax cuts that they might put into place may expire in ten years unless they are extended at some point down the road. Dagen this is an important fiscal marker because this is a sign, you can correct me if im wrong, if they can get on board with this, they could get some sort of tax cut, if you will. Maria i think they are going to get it. Our problem is messaging. Talking about tax cuts to a person who has his or her taxes taken out of a paycheck makes no sense because they dont see taxes. We need to talk about paycheck punching. We are going to punch up your paycheck, we will help you have empowerment as consumer. We focus on tax cuts which go right over the heads of most of america, we need to be talking about why reducing the Corporate Tax rate to 15 means when youre going to the store youre paying less in everything you buy. Maria why a passthrough, an llc could see 15 tax rate enabling to come all the way down to 40 and use that extra savings to actually invest in equipment and higher more workers. That resinates. Jon big question is how are the hawks, people like bob corker where we might have larger deficits in order to fund this. We have to see if they can get to that 50vote margin. Do they not understand, jon, when you lower taxes you end up with great level of income in i realize theres a breakthrough where it may not happen. 1 Economic Growth. You cannot survive and sustain, get the tax cuts down where people start hiring and you bring foreign capital back into the u. S. Thats parked overseas. Now you have a 4 growth that you fully Fund Social Security and medicare. Thats what we need to be talking about. Jon another one to have big issues that theyll be wrestling with, how did the scores in congress, the joint taxation committee, the cbo, store measures score measures out of this. Maria big debate and secretary Steven Mnuchin is they have their own scoring within the measuring and they are not married to the cbo scoring. This is one of the big sticking points which will tell us whether or not over ten years if we will see more revenue. I dont know jon its not the treasurys scores, its what you get from the joint tax committee. Maria well, im just saying, would they just say the cbo score is not relevant the way they felt it was relevant this time around . Look, i think the scoring things from a cbo its cooked numbers, its home cooking, many protect their jobs rather people out in the states. Theres an old saying, figures lie, liers figure. You have so many people that will make the number whatever you want it to be. Jon we saw with the health care debate, cbo scores matter because they shape the public debate. They make headlines maria should they be shaping all of this . I dont know jon you cant do it blind. You have to do it some sense of what the Economic Impact maria which is why treasury says they want to do it. Dagen they need to have some marker given the fact that its 20 trilliondollar in debt. 80 of growth in spending in the next decade, three things, social security, medicaremedicaid as one health care and interest on the the the national debt. If we go upper centage point we have an entire federal budget that get swamps by peoples Government Health care. Maria isnt the cassidy bill dagen it appears to be moving. Repeal is not dead. What it will do broadly speaking, governor, you can weigh in, it moves the burden of administrating the Affordable Care act or health care as Government Health care to the states. It gives the states. Bravo, thats where it belong. Theres no federal role in health care. Theres not one thing about federal health care, theres nothing. If you are going to do it, do it state level. The needs of health care in mississippi versus massachusetts are 180degrees apart. When you try to do a federal program that is supposed to fit all 50 states will be a dismal failure. They know what they need to be doing. Theyll do it more efficiently. Dagen the problem is there is federal health care and its single payer and its called medicare and its going broke in 20 years, theyll be able to pay 88 cents on the dollar in benefits and unfunded liability that largely will swamp the entire u. S. Economy if they dont fix it. So we do have Government People i want to government out of my health care. Well, every senior in america has the government in their health care and they love it. Maria and then theres obamacare. Jon we are talking about taxes but theres a spending problem that nobody talks about in washington, we want to rewrite tax code, who is going to address the spending problem in washington . Dagen hes giving me a topic sentence. Thats your new job. You gave me a topic sentence. Thank you for that. Maria its good news that we are talking about one and a half trillion dollar tax cut. It is god news that the cassidy bill is moving, that is approaching looking at entitlements. Then there is this, the dow high, the fed is going to be meeting today and tomorrow and we are widely expecting that the fed will detail, Jon Hilsenrath, how they are going to wind down the 4 and a quarter trillion quarter sheet. Jon they have been preparing that they will wind the Balance Sheet. The stock market is reaching new record highs when the fed is saying they will pull this stuff back. When they launch the program they call quantitative easing. A lot of people thought it was going to create all problems, inflation, bubbles and all of these problems. We didnt get super charge growth out of it, that is true, we did get lower Unemployment Rate and now they are pulling away from it and we are not seeing disasters that were predicted from the feds aggression. I think thats reason thats good news and its interesting that the journals editorial panel, im not a part of that, im part of the news page, was praising janet yellen. I think theres a good chance that she gets the job back that donald trump asked her to stay on. Maria reappointed. Jon yeah. Maria you dont see drama or market upset as they wind down this Balance Sheet. Remember the comments jamie diamn made. Markets have spoken. Jon they know this is coming, they expect it and they are prepared for it. Take all the federal money and put it in the stock market. We will pay off the debt. Its the only thing thats doing well. Dagen in the words of ronald reagan, stocks go up and stocks go down which is what he said after the 87 crash. Some bond managers dont think that this is going to send yields up or longerterm Interest Rates up because they think that the fed is not stimulating the economy like it was, it could send bond yields lower because the economy doesnt do as well and people go to safety. Theres a lot of discussion. I think that the risk that we have to worry about is that there could be a bubble down the road. You always talk and longtermbond yields look at bitcoin, stock prices getting too high, real estate is getting too high. Maria bitcoin is some story. , meanwhile president obama no longer wall street enemy, apparently. You may remember many times he lashed out against bankers like this. When i took office, we were in the midst of historic financial prices brought on by reckless speculation on wall street. At a certain point youve made enough money. Maria well, hes making the money now. He might be wall streets newest fat cat, obama spoke at the Carlisle Group in washington last week, its unclear how much he was paid for that. Last april he pocketed 400,000 at canter fitzgerald event. I dont care that he gets paid. I care that hes a hypocrite. Is he making too much money in. Maria who is the judge . Good for him. By the way, i will speak for a lot less than he will so im a bargain. Dagen and you play base too. Thats right, i entertain, i can play during the reception. Im truly frustrated that there is this hypocrisy and double standard that on one hand he just rails against wall street, but its like most politicians, as soon as they get a chance and hand is out and theyre putting in the bank. Maria i dont know, the hypocrisy i see that manafort was wired tap before and after the election, the Loretta Lynch stuff, call it a matter, not an investigation, the irs and yet no problem. Theres a double standard, isnt there . Credible double standard. Cnn laughed at donald trump for saying he had been wired tap. They are breaking the story as if this is big breaking news that, in fact, trump was right. They didnt put it that way. They did not say it. They are more than just giving us money, working with the youth and its been beneficial. Maria why did you choose adidas over nike or under armour. Adidas has been hot right now. It is tuesday september 19th, top stories right now 7 00 a. M. On the east coast. The race to the finish for the agenda with the clock ticking on the legislative calendar, 12 days to go, republican lawmakers are making progress on both health care and taxes now in the final 11th hour, here is what chairman of ways and means committee. The best way of doing that is balance in the budget, two ways to do it, one, we will get Economic Growth from tax reform. Thats good. But we also have to get us in the special interest provisions, loopholes, exclusions so that we can lower the rates for everybody. Maria a closer look at the republican agenda coming up this morning. Plus President Trumps Foreign Policy focus. He will make debut address at the Un General Assembly this morning where he will push America First position. We will take you live. Hurricane maria now a category 5 storm and puerto rico has already declared a state of emergency. Global markets on edge this morning, they are mixed, actually as investors are waiting on the Federal Reserve, the central bank is expected to detail how it would unwind 4 and a quarter Balance Sheet. The dow industrials up 18 points, nasdaq, s p 500 are up a fraction. In asia overnight, theres the markets, cac quarante up a fraction. Dax index is flat, take a look at the asian markets where japan was standout, up 2 after long Holiday Weekend. The other majors were down fractionally. Former Trump Campaign manager Paul Manafort reportedly wired tap before the election and after the election as well as part of russia investigation. We are taking a look at legal fallout. Why the Obama Administration was wiretapping before the election and election. The pair of jeans doing viral. Despite what they are looking like, they are sold out. [laughter] maria all the stories coming up this morning and joining me to talk about it dagen mcdowell, the wall street journal Global Economics editor Jon Hilsenrath and former republican president ial candidate and arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. Jon theres a strange jeans obsession. Remember we had ones that were the seethrough jeans, plastic windows on them and the really beat up jeans that came with dirt all over them. This actually might be the worst of them all. Maria they dont do it for me. I dont know. Dagen we like talking about fashion, jon, come on. Jon maybe thats where you lose me. Dagen you get to hit the ball with your bear hands, nothing for satisfying than that. Slapping and the sound and you get the smack the ball and spike it right at somebodys head. Jon im all for that. For a boy it only works if you smash somebody in the head. Dagen i disagree. Maria in addition to volleyball commentary, fox Senior Analyst judge Andrew Napolitano coming uptaking a look at Paul Manafort being wiretapped. Former u. S. Embassador John Negroponte is here and chief brand strategists Kathy Ireland. Do stay with us. We are talking Small Business there. First we kick it off with top stories, fresh momentum for gop agenda including health care and tax reform. Top republicans are expressing optimism about new effort to repeal president obama Signature Health care law. Bills from Lindsey Graham and bill cassidy will replace much of the obamacare legislation with block grants to states getting them widely way to spend the money. The Congressional Budget Office says it will not have crucial estimates ready for several weeks than the chambers ability to pass the measure through simple majority vote expires after next week. Joining us right now with more as republican National Committee chairwoman ronna mcdaniel. Thank you for joining us. Thanks for having me, always great to be here. Maria characterize the bill, does it have legs . It does have legs. I think the idea of block granting the money to the states makes a lot of sense. They have the opportunity to within their own demographics, within their own unsured to make the best plan possible and other states can copy states that are getting it right and doing it well w. I think it makes a lot of sense. Its going to go to committee. Obviously the cbo is important. Their scoring, Bernie Sanders singlepayer monstrosity, hopefully they can get it out. The thing thats most attractive that blue states get to do a blue solution, red states do a red solution and we find out which one works and we bike pick the best one. A most practical approach to Health Care Reform i have seen. Its what governors have been begging for for the last 25 years, i dont know why this thing is not on fire and on its way to put passage. I agree with you. This is something that works for everyone and to bring it to state level, the tenth amendment, the wonderful tenth amendment that we have in the country, its hard to find a onesizefitsall health care. And so to give it to the governors to let them work within their budget, to let them work within their population and to make the best plan possible and they copy each other and they say, this is working in mitch again, lets cop that copy that here in arkansas. Lets remember obamacare is failing at a rapid cliff. In 2018 we will have so many people uninsured, premiums are continuing to double and americans are hurting and seeking relief. Its time for republicans and democrats to come forward and put forward a solution. Jon ronna as you mention and we mention, time is running short in order to get this through the congress now it has to be done by tend of the month because of the budget reconciliation process, if it doesnt happen by the end of september, whats the strategy and is this Lindsey Graham proposal thats out there right now potentially the basis for republicans and democrats to Work Together in 2018 . Yeah, obviously, we are working against the clock with september 30th deadline and the reconciliation that allows us to do with that 51 vote threshold. I hope that democrats and republicans can come together. Listen, democrats pushed obamacare through. They didnt do it in a bipartisan way. They didnt work across the aisle with republicans. I think thats one of the flaws with obamacare, it wasnt done in a bipartisan way. To come together to find a solution for the millions of americans that are truly suffering, i see it every day. When i go home to michigan, i run into people that say our premiums have doubled, can we pay rent or health care, it is frightening for people, we have to find a solution. Dagen graham and cassidy say they can get close to 50 votes but 50 doesnt count. Rand paul is a hard no, susan collins, Lisa Murkowski and john mccain voiced skepticism. It doesnt look like a go. Not to shoot it down its unlikely that it moves. Maria are the votes there, ronna . The Senate Luncheon is today. I will see secretary and i think they will have a robust discussion. From a party chair perspective, this is something that we ran on, this is something republicans have been running on, its something our grassroots expects from us and its going to be hard in 2018 to go look voters in the eye and say we didnt deliver on the signature promise that we ran on. So its imperative that we put our best foot forward. We know democrats have not been helping on the issue, the issue that they created, but it is republicans that have the leadership right now and we need to show that we can get this done. Maria isnt that what was the sticking point. It was republicans that basically got in the way of victory. When you look at the party, i mean, yeah, you ran on it, but are you united . Well, you know, it did pass the house and we did get to 49 in the senate, we needed the one more vote. So we do have we do have work to do. Our margins are slim in the senate. Im looking at 2018 already. We have huge opportunities to pick up seats. I think the voters need to recognize how slim those margins are. It would be nice if democrats would come over and help find a solution to something that they put in place instead of running and hiding and it looks like we might get some bipartisan support with fixing this flawed, flawed obamacare that is hurting so many people across the country. Maria let me move on to the un, the president set to deliver first address to the assembly this morning, expected to outline America First speech and call out countries like north korea, iran. What are you expecting the president to say and how might it impact the room there . Well, President Trump has established himself as a global leader. We had eight years of leadership under barack obama, we are seeing the fruits of that with the rise in north korea, with them having icbms and potential Nuclear Weapons, we have seen iran ignore the iran deal that they put forward because of the weak leadership under president obama. President trump has come to the un to say we have a different leader in the United States of america and we need our partners across the world and our global communities to help us fight what we see happening in north korea and in iran and we need to Work Together because the threat that they are posing to the world is something that we are going to have to face as a global community. Maria meanwhile we have to get to this because Hillary Clinton now is saying that she will not rule out questioning the legitimacy of the 2016 election if new information surfaces that russia interfered more deeply than already known. Your thoughts on what Hillary Clinton is saying now . Every time i see Hillary Clinton out there it reinforces why she lost. She continues to make the election about her. Its always about her instead of the American People. A true leader, somebody who ran for president , who understands the greatness of this nation would be stepping aside and saying, you know what, we need to come together and support this president and instead shes still continuing to try and delegitimize this election where President Trump won overwhelming with an Electoral College victory in my state of michigan. We did a recount, she was not gaining traction. So its time for her to gracefully bow out and say i lost fair and scare and we need to support our president , President Trump because our country is more important than any one individual. Ronna, why dont you have a great bike big banquet in washington. Get the heck home and be quiet about it. I think you can raise a gazillion dollars if you have the banquet. I love it. Will you host it with me, governor . Maria thank you ronna mcdaniel. We will take you live to the coverage of President Trumps speech at the United Nations. It happened at 10 30 a. M. Eastern. Cheryl we have add, yeah. Maria wiretapped Paul Manafort before and after the 2016 election, we will speak with judge Andrew Napolitano about the legal implications on that. How the retail giant makes real money without needing customers to stop at stores anyway, straight ahead, back in a minute why should over two hundred years of citi history matter to you . Well, because it tells us something powerful about progress that whether times are good or bad, people and their ideas will continue to move the world forward. As long as they have someone to believe in them. Citi financed the transatlantic cable that connected continents. And the panama canal, that made our world a smaller place. We backed the Marshall Plan that helped europe regain its strength. And pioneered the atm, for cash, anytime. For over two centuries weve supported dreams like these. And the people and companies behind them. So why should that matter to you . Because, today, we are still helping progress makers turn their ideas into reality. And the next great idea could be yours. So what else is new . Humm. Shes doing good. She needs more care though. She wants to stay in her house. I dont know even where to start with that. The fbi reportedly wiretapped the former chairman according to cnn. Bureau got permission to monitor manafort in 2014, continued wiretapping through early part of this year. Manafort faced scrutiny over lobbying efforts but denies any kind of colluding to influence the election. Joining us right now fox senior judicial analyst judge Andrew Napolitano. What does this wiretap mean in terms of what the Obama Administration had done . It means that Paul Manafort will probably be indicted on manager having not to do with donald trump or the campaign. Failure to report compensation, failure to register as Foreign Agent while he was while he was lobbying for or working for and receiving money from a foreign government. The reason i come to that conclusion is their original solicitation of documents from Paul Manafort was looking for evidence of compensation before working for donald trump, but theres a lot f oh other of other issues here. One is the president s allegation that he was being wires were being tapped. His words, the terminology he chose, while he was in trump tower are more likely than not to be true. Some of us have been arguing for a while. Second, we dont know what kind of a wiretap this is. If this is a fisa court authorized wiretap because they told the fisa court that manafort was dealing with foreign powers and they needed to know what the foreign powers were saying to him, they could not be used against him. On the other hand, if it is regular article 3, where the fbi goes to the judge in private, i received many of these on the bench, here is the probable cause that we believe this person is committing a crime, we need to dig a little deeper and evidence of criminality comes from that kind of a wiretap, that can be used against him. But that raises the following specter, jim comey while director of fbi next to mike rogers, head of nsa, both under oath told the Senate Intelligence committee we know of no wiretaps in trump tower. Maria right. They tried to discredit the president. Correct. How could jim comey not know of it if his own fbi had obtained it and went back to 2014, was dropped for a few months and picked up against in 2015 when donald trump announced he was running for president. Maria so did he lie under oath . The facts as they came out this morning are inconsistent with what he told the senate jon was manafort in trump tower particularly in 2014 when they started and trump wasnt even seen as a serious candidate at that point. Well, it makes you wonder if this was an intelligencestyle wartap to which valerie had access, were they doing so so they could tell mrs. Clinton what donald was going to do in the campaign, that, of course, would be a very serious felony or was this a legitimate Law Enforcement pursuit of evidence of criminal behavior on Paul Manafort. We dont know the understand. Like a lot of the stories, they raise more questions than they answer. Judge, it would seem to me that the one take away for every viewer watching, forget about Paul Manafort and forget about Jared Kushner and all these people, what this reminds us is, if the government wants to get us, they will find a way, they have unlimited resources to attack people who are citizens of the United States and if they cant find what they are looking for, they will find something that has nothing to do with it, even if they lose and the citizen wins, they lose because it bankrupted. I couldnt agree with you more, there are 4,000, if they want to get you for something that will. During the break you were telling how it happened to a friend of yours. They can do that. Bob mueller is under pressure to do something because the longer he takes in this investigation the more it looks like a fishing expedition. He wants some action. He wants some indictment and wants the person to Start Talking to him. Who is the crosshairs, the president of the United States. Dagen anybody associated with him, past, present and future. They are catchalls. Yes. We will never know the money he spent and the nature and how deep he dug until all this is over with. Jon the idea that these investigations can get out of control and that he needs to be to be focused. Im sure he gets it. Im a fan of bob mueller, im not a fan of techniques but regrettably they are lawful and a lot of prosecutors do this. Maria is this the department of justice going to look at this or Jeff Sessions recuse himself . Jeff sessions has already rescued himself. The department of justice is virtually being run by rod rosenstein. Rod rosenstein is directing the fbi agents on breaking doors at 5 30 in the morning. Maria why . Well documented on this one. We wont repeat the language has reputed to have used. The attorney general has taken hands off of anything having to do with this. Maria all right, we will leave it there. What we do with civilization we learn to inhibitrope in aggressive tends tendencies we have to recognize them i worry about a whole country that doesnt recognize it think of how many times we get in scrapes as nation because we are always the good guys. Sometimes i think if we thought we arent always good guys we might actually get in less wars. First of 10 part 18 hour documentary aired sunday on pbs behind scenes first interview ken burns congratulations. Thank you so much. Response was less than great first couple episodes. Incredible, documentary, why was this so important to you . You know i think we are finishing a twim on world war ii in twovn just looked ahead, rode map of history could see most important event after the Second World War for americans vietnam war Unfinished Business we have not unpacked what happened when we talk about it we tend to talk only about ourselves, so we think of vietnam in interviewed north vietnamese soldiers, civilians, viet cong to complement more than a 6 360 point we wanted to show this so that everybody felt that their own views and perspectives could be honored in this, so you know, a good deal of the divisions the hyper partisanship born in vietnam we may be able to pull out some fuel rods. What did you learn you are right, this war tugs at our hearts, seems to be debated epic undertakinging for you 10 years. Every day something new i lived through it a high draft number i thought i know everything about vietnam i knew nothing about it basic assumption upside down by learning stuff declassified materials to put together a daem the rest of the country would trust particularly in hypopartisan things we got under wry bank of america involved with us 10 years, just said go at it i said this is very controversial they said do it being a better perspective, help us understand, ourselves and help us be better connected to each other, so that is the movieiama partnership they signed up for next 10 years to every corner splil spectrum support from left, right, center so we can say here just interested in faction novak and i didnt have a political agenda did not have ax to grind umpires calling balls and strikes the way we have been. That is what people want in this environment. Right now particularly, about this particular singling which is so people in hardened silos if even talking about vietnam actually certain, and you know judge learned handed says liberty never being too sure you are right a good way to be a film maker you test and test again, retest. But also good for the public to realize that sometimes we find ourselves, absolutely certain of our beliefs and we find it hard to listen to the other we try to create a space possible to listen to the other hopefully get vietnam by reason of theed us not just thank you for service end of a statement dont talk to me nightmare but welcome home what can we do for you then you can hear in north vietnamese soldiers viet cong sound like marines army guys i want to talk to former enemies the guys down there, in those ambushes, the brawls, as soldiers called it that took place in that war. You learned a lot just along the way. You know, courage, maria is not just in the battlefield sometimes it is a decision not to go, what we tried to do is respect that understand, that, you know, by the end of this war well more than majority of americans were opposed to it what was that about how do you understand the strength and mistakes and weaknesses, of the Antiwar Movement with what is going on policy point of view going on from gold star mother, gold star mother does not have to tell us about worse moment of her life, but doing so gives film makers a gift we carry for 10 years, and much more important gift to the American People, because lots of families struggle with grief lots of with loss not just war out other places she can help you get through you tough times. Particularly at a moment in time where there was all this antiwar sentiment out there an incredible moment. There a o we started 10 years ago fet vietnam resonated in the prethis is mass demonstrations against Current Administration white house in disarray obsessed with leaks big document drops stolen classified material, into the public s sphere president certain press lying about him making up stories about asymmetrical warfare accusations Political Campaign reached out during name of National Election to foreign country to influence that, so once said history doesnt repeat its but when you watch vietnam war lots of lies you have to understand we finished before iowa cautions editorial part not putting thumb on saying a lot like today but all good history says human nature is thing boy is it a lot like today you. Interesting so you do make some connections. We dont make any connections ourselves, the viewer is going to make connections, about it but that is the gift of history why would is we study the past if it helps us understand our present what is most while doing this. Everything i think intimacy of battle a horrible, horrible war because most american engagements sending out patrol to be ambushed like can you sayter ho chi minh we assumed was leer of the north tfrz he was sharing power with hardliners politically bureaus marginalizeing them, a figure to people in the world like waking up not knowing who enemy is johnson never heard his name until 166, guy actually running things more or less since 1959 so almost everything you think you know believe me i have been through thank you human millation not true in reaching that we could start to repack, what happened and share with country, regardless of where you are from or what you believe, the story of the vietnam war to just repeat, is the most important event in American History since Second World War ii if we want to understand now we have to understand about them. Love your work, throughout your work tell people where to catch the vietnam war tonight what else are you working on after this . M. , here will be promoting America First agenda, and yesterday, he applauded efforts u. N. Making on reform. In recent years United Nations has not reached its full potential because of the bureaucracy and mismanagement i am confident if we Work Together, and champion truly bold reforms, the United Nations will he emerge as a stronger more focus more just and greater force for peace and harmony in the world. All those coming up this morning joining me to talk about it Fox Business Network dagen mcdowell, the wall street journal Global Economics editor Jon Hilsenrath former rep president ial ked former arkansas governor Mike Huckabee here good to see you. Thank you very much. Good couple hours big newsday. Dagen so much to cover from the u. N. To what is going on in washington, and not just it is potential repeal and replace on obamacare plus, the the wall street journal frontpage story about 1 2 trillion dollars in tax cuts in the budget at least based on the Senate Republicans. They got to agree on budget before they cut taxes looks like this is where this is leading. It yes, it looks like they are going to do at least a trillion dollars, of cuts which is going to be Something Else fort economy. We will talk about that joining the conversation this morning, Kathy Ireland worldwide cetch level brands chairman Kathy Ireland here talking about her Small Business how she sar starting varn swrarn host Stuart Varney on deck we kick off with president a few hours away, from first address to the United NationsGeneral Assembly happens at 10 00 a. M. Campaigning candidate trump had been a huge critic about of the body accusing member nations a lot of talk little action yesterday at u. N. President trump seemed to reiterate the need for change. We encourage all Member States to look at ways to take bold stands at United Nations with an eye toward changing business as usual and not being beholden to ways of the past. Which were not working. Maria joining us to talk about thataway in u. S. Ambassador to u. N. Former ambassador, to u. N. Honduras mexico philippines John Negroponte with us. And iraq. Iraq in some cases more thank you for weighing in, on this important day, what are you expecting from president today give us a sense of background. Well yes i was here 15 years ago when george w. Bush gave his speech foreshadowing some actions in iraq seminole talk on iraq before United Nations, let me say i take greet encouragement from what he said yesterday sounds to me like he wants to make u. N. A going concern he didnt trash it didnt diss it talking about make it better i thought very positive thing given what he said in campaign this is not a Decision Making meeting, general debate week it is where the president outlines miss main ideas about Foreign Policy i expect him to talk perhaps foremost about north korea and situation there, and making the point that this is a problem for the International Community as a whole not just a problem of the United States, and of koreas make, by the way, they invaded south korea in june 1950 with backing from russia and china so those kinds bear a certain responsibility for klein trying to help fix this i think going to highlight those points talk surely, about iran. And even though technically in compliance, or may be technically in compliance with joint Cooperation Agreement they are still misbehaving, fomenting trouble in sir, in yemen and so forth so i am sure going to is that will that. Probably talk about syria as he did yesterday he will talk about une reform but sounds to me like he plans to do it in a rat in a positive context you can use it at times when it serves your purpose last he talked as if u. N. Itself is like an institution. He is referring to the secretariat u. N. Is what members make it when cooperation between great powers much more can get done than when great differences. Governor. I am curious, he has been very critical, but i think a lot of his criticism may have been justified u. N. Has attacked nations like israel, with which have much better view and record on human rights, than north korea than saudis then so many countries that are sitting on the Human Alliance council dont you think a great opportunity to see reform. I should have mentioned israel he will definitely say about ilz defend it as a main democracy one of the main jobs u. S. Representative always seems to have to fend off an antiisrael resolutions in Security Council as well i think going to be important thing, and our support for democracy. Can we talk about north korea for a second what are the chances that that the president can get china i mentioned china, and russia, to work with us to address this problem, and where do you see this problem going . What are the the next steps in this drama between u. S. And north korea . Right, i mean a huge conundrum for what 25 years, weve got fits and starts two steps forward one step back all along they kept dwaepg this nuclear and this capability better off than they have been in terms of their own military development. The real problem has been that seoul, korea is a hostage if any conflict breaking out south korea bombarded by conventional artillery from where north a great risk the military options are limited i saw today where general mattis hinted yesterday we might have some options that would would i retaliatory action against south korea by north, but i am not sure i know when a those are we have to wait and see. But a difficult situation. It is not in chinas interest seems to me for north korea to have Nuclear Weapons nor is it in russias they are both neighbors, i think the president has got to keep jawboning them, to try to join with us, to increase the pressure on the north, sanctions so far even though they have been increased dont seem to be enough yet to make kim jongun change behavior. He has to hurt more. Did do you think we should be doing more on sanctions against chane should president ramp it up against chane. I wouldnt look i think that is a very delicate matt, because you want cooperation you dont want to make them mad, so i think it is more a question of getting them to put more pressure on north korea, as well as the russians both have influence in that country but that is not xaj rate they told us how did i they are they are not easy believe me. Thank you, so much for weighing in ambassador. Stay with us on Fox Business Network live to the coverage of President Trumps speech at United Nations 10 30 a. M. Eastern we go to u. N. Live when president begins back on Capitol Hill Senate republicans considering a budget that would allow for a one and one half trilliondollar tax cut next decade according to the wall street journal this morning blake burman live on capitol hill with that at gop agenda blake good morning to you. Reporter good morning to you you are exactly right that figure 1. 5 trillion dollars, the the wall street journal is reporting this morning, that is the number that Senate Republicans are looking to carve out, from the budget, for possible tax cuts a few things to point out here, though, with that figure, that leaves open the possibility that maybe tax reform would not be revenue neutral meaning would expire after 10 years, but this is also a highly process to receive 51 votes for all talk of bipartisanship, there needs to be a budget passed by senate, passed by house, that is just one phase keep in mind as well next week we are expected to get the actual tax details from the big fix that a whole different debate on that end here on capitol hill, there is a last so he can rival a hail mary to tackle Health Care Reform in the bill would get rid of obamacare taxes and provide assistance to the states, in the form of block grants right now, though republicans do not have the 50 votes and democrats signaling they will not lend any support either. Do this in the dark of night, when it affects so many people and so many dollars, to not have hearings to not have debate, to not have a full cbo score is legislative malpractice of the highest order betrays everything that this republic is all about plain and simple. Maria calendar here tight for republicans on this you chaerd Chuck Schumer mentioned cbo expected in weeks but, also, in order for republicans to be able to use that 50 plus one measure in the senate they have got to get this done, by the end of the month. Absolutely, a pleasure. I mean i know this is pretty much a generalization, i mean not all women are stressed out about saving for tbut what is causing this gender divide we are reading about. I think we also know that you know women are more emotionally in tune better plenaries focused more on the security factor they want to know they are going to be okay as well as their family looking out a little bit understanding hey i may be feeling crunch may not be where i want to be. What should they do about it. The big thing take a collective breath understand a few things what we dont want to do is confuse, you know, fix with fact, is to i would say understand where you are right now, sit down with investment professional look at things things may not be as bad as you think they are so that realistic picture will help, understanding how investment 401 k , understanding where you are, how things are progressing know your number i developed riq tool at web site so people can understand how much are they going to need what do they need to do to help them get there. Dagen as you get closer to turn it and this is something that comes up more it is dagen more often you have to think about where you are going to live, pick a place that has a very low cost of living that has easy access, to hospitals, and good health care, and that is an happening tos more people dont talk about i dont mean necessarily florida there are places governor you can havekey can tell you as you wl know there are places across the south that have incredibly low costs of living. It is it is one of those things you are absolutely right you want to be aware of what you are i dont your live style going to look like what is your budget how many debt are you packing do i not want people to bring debt into retirement we looked at it four things in the way of saving for retirement youve got stein loans Credit Card Debt mortgages cost of living, so if we can control the things we can control we can put ourselves in a better position. Chris Mike Huckabee here i cant imagine retiring staying off Student Loans board too much to go to school bigger question is this, should everybody retire it seems like retirement is this why do we have to retire should not we continue to work if we love what wr doing isnt that a better option . Mr. Huckabee you are absolutely right for me retirement is more a frame of mind having options, it doesnt mean you have to stop doing what you are doing i love what i am doing as well. But i want people to have freedom i want them to be able to travel when they want to travel or continue to work, and not have the stress of having to work another 12 to 14 hour shift on a job they dont love. Maria more about having options but it is true that if you dont use it you lose it i mean you dont want to stop working doing things, that you are working you bring definitely want to stay engaged i work with people that are doing that i am talking about what do they want to do start a Side Business . Are they plugging in volunteering but you want to stay active engaged you can into that when you earned right saving enough money jay one thing millennials are doing one way spending money, is spending it on experiences not buying things but traveling now while they are young rather than waiting until 65. Com 100 get photographs of the cover, cover photographed a hologram of Warren Buffett, and instructions and you can start asking him questions. Not the wow. You cant ask about yankees or anything but basic ideas on investing in the economy things like that. So even at 100 always trying to be on cutting edge supplying the information and how we deliver that information one reason why we never got caught up with the disaster that happens with print we were hurt made the adjustment key thing get that analysis out. Youve got more online readers than print. 70 to 90 million visitors. 70 to 90 million. Each month. And over 40 overseas, and versus 750,000 circulation for the magazine, so great management guru said always remind yourself mission so dont get hung up with means to achieve change what we tried. Dagen might sound silly but why Warren Buffett not somebody else . Jeff baezos younger well more cutting edge . As i get older i dont think Warren Buffetts age should be held against him. I am saying like the guy of the moment like jeff bezos. Here is somebody steve we dont hear from that often buffett is omni present. I think we sort of discovered Warren Buffett in late 1960s unknown money manager in omaha interviewed him because he sold all his stocks, and by golly picked the top six years later in the bottom of one of the worst bear markets ever disaster everyone selling, he said which is very on pc said what do you think about stocks he said i feel like a sex maniac in a harem so many great bargains out there since then we have enjoyed insights one of the things we like about him not only shown overtime that he can survive and thrive but tells you where he is not strong hightech doesnt pretend going to be a hightech geek will study pieces if he feels he needs to do so, so kind of several years ago we did an interview with him and jayz together because each had achieveding longevity in entertainment and investment world shooting stars all the time in terms of investment, but he has delivered constantly sometimes down but overtime remarkable performance. Maria you are right. But why not. Got on apple, late in the game but still made money on it. Why he. And one of the things about investing if a stock has gone up a lot you think maybe it is too late i only get a little bit he doesnt let that hold him back he thinks a bargain even up 10 fold still going into. It what do you think about this bull market a great run keeps going did he spotty noise in washington do you think for real you talked about getting in late too late to get into this bull market . It is real. And the reason it is real is Corporate America has really gotten its act together here and overseas. The real challenge for the economy is not the stocks, stock market, representatives Large Companies socalled small caps large by most business standards, Small Businesses are having a hard time Small Business formation a hard time made a good tax cut deregulation some other measures so Big Companies of tomorrow one great so thenning you see in forbes years ago top 100 in 1917, 8 or so around today there is a constant churn one of the strengths American Economy is ability to keep creating not just Small Companies but the Big Companies of today, and tomorrow. Europe cant do it, asia we will see if can do it we can to make sure have that right environment. Steve i am fascinated the fact you are not only surviving but outliving in most publications are gone news week a joke, the publications disappearing what is the ron forbes lasted 100 years a bright future. We have uchz and downs fascinating history nearly down for the current in Great Depression up and downs the key thing is reminded yourself as Peter Drucker tells us what is it you are trying to do if it means change do it one wise thing 20 years ago everyone got electronic publishing you are in, like when edison inventdz movies thought if you film stage play you had a feature film no different medium so that is the kind of things we did not easy. This is an era as they say eat well sleep law not both eating part i do the other thing. Take on issues of the day a tax reform comes to mind the wall street journal this morning is reporting that Senate Republicans are considering writing a budget that creates rules for 1 half trilliondollar tax cut over next decade now unclear how big a tax cut Trump Administration will support, but you are pretty bullish they are getting something done you said sunday. Yes he i call in sync of self preservation most people know if they dont get a tax cut get this economy not just moving but where people feel it is moving as for 80s much of the 90s they know they are going to be uber drivers, after. Move election, so that is, i think, as saying johnson said the hanging focus wined pivotal prospect political hanging does same thing i think getting something done not constrained by idiot projections of the cbo getting a big tax cut if they tweak it later fine what reagan did in early 80s a huge tax cut made changes big job done get the economy visiblebly feeling moving forward. I was going to say on 100th anniversary of manager we should remember jim michaels i was lucky to know him editor started in 0s never i never 60s i never worked for him as writer but i learned a lot from him even just seeing him in the building with him at fox. Remarkably, 38 years really gave our editorial content the brilliance that it did he took from nobody, to didnt care who you were, he thought a piece great would say if if he thought terrible would throw it back at you literally. Literally. That kind of discipline, always reminded us readers dont have all the time in the world to read your price liless get to the point. You said on sunday that you actually have a feeling that the tax cut plan could be retroactive to 17. Do you believe that i think there is going to be a push for it because make it active in 2018 is not going to help very much in the elections nice thing about making retroactive is one people move right away two, nice big refunds coming in april, not bad in election year. If they take to this to a end of the year leasing much on table taking it retroactive to beginning of 17 i am somewhat skeptical trying to save every penny. Else this want to save jobs and save the economy, hello. Thank you so much congratulations, happy birthday forbes.
