Fairport Canal Days is back for 2021: Here are things to do this weekend

Fairport Canal Days attracts upwards of 200,000 people to this Erie Canal village.
1. One of the area's most popular festivals, canceled last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, is back for 2021 but with modifications.
Fairport Canal Days runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6. Because of work being done to Fairport's lift bridge, the free event will confined to the north side of the village. Festival attendance, which normally approaches 200,000 over the weekend, will be capped at a little under 12,000 at any one time so 6 feet of distance can be maintained between people. Usually, there are 200 vendors; this year there are around 100. Masks are not required for vaccinated people. Anyone who is unvaccinated should wear a mask. For more, go to fairportcanaldays.com.
