The math and English language arts faculty at Bronson Jr./Sr. High School presented a request for interventionists Monday to the board of education.
Faculty members presented data to substantiate the need, citing experiences that demonstrate the effectiveness of intervention — providing extra help for students who are falling behind. They requested one for each department at the school.
The high school departments meet weekly, said Wes McCrea, jr./sr. high principal.
The process that led to the request began in January, when faculty members started to review data from testing, McCrea said.
Pam Losinski, math teacher, said in the past there was an interventionist in both departments, but as staff members retired or left the school, they were not replaced. Now, they are stretched thin.
