ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS — For the second time in as many months, the governing body on Wednesday discussed the performance of the borough clerk,
this time sparring over a resolution for a paid leave of absence.
Councilman William Woo said the impetus for the resolution was Borough Clerk Lisette Duffy's failure to keep reliable records, namely emails sent and received by himself, as well as meeting minutes.
Woo, a Republican, also said the council is “waiting on findings from the prosecutor’s office” but did not go into detail as to what was being investigated.
Councilman Glenn Luciano, a Democrat who was appointed last week to fill a vacancy, said he found the reasoning “concerning.” He noted that the borough is already suing its former IT professional regarding the allegedly missing emails.
