THROUGHOUT the last nine months, the national government through the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), has issued several guidelines surrounding the mandatory use of face shields.
Last week, the IATF has updated its Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines after the approval of Resolution No. 88. This new policy comes at a time when people are going out to attend Christmas masses and peak of the holiday rush. According to Section 8 No. 5 of the amended Omnibus Guidelines, "All persons are mandated to wear full-coverage face shields together with face masks, earloop masks, indigenous, reusable, or do-it-yourself masks, or other facial protective equipment which can effectively lessen the transmission of Covid-19, whenever they go out of their residences."
