The saga now appears to be over.
The borough council deadlocked 3-3 on Wednesday on a motion to enforce the disciplinary action and make the police chief give up a second week of vacation or take unpaid leave. That means the proposal failed.
“We should not be voting on this, I’m just saying,” said Councilwoman Anne Geiger, who's pushed for the previously-approved discipline to be enforced.
“Your word is your bond in civil society. And truth and trust form the foundation of what we do here,” she added. “And it’s a slippery slope when we, elected officials, pick and choose what laws to follow, and what policies to enforce.”
