KOTA BARU: The Kelantan police have detained a man believed to have been using a fake “Datuk” title and another man suspected of posing as a member of the Kelantan royal family.
Both suspects were detained after police received a report from the Kelantan palace on Feb 25 regarding an individual who was allegedly falsifying documents and posing as a recipient of an award with the title of “Datuk” from the Kelantan palace, said Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat.
Based on further investigations, the police detained a 48-year-old civil servant in Machang on Feb 27.
“In the raid, the police confiscated a name card with a ‘Datuk’ title and investigations revealed that the suspect got the card from a man claiming to be a Kelantan royal, ” he told reporters at the Kelantan contingent police headquarters here.
