MELAKA: A woman with a Datuk title and a male civil servant have been remanded for three days for allegedly submitting false documents to the Melaka Council of Datuks in a bid for membership.
Datuk, Datuk Seri, Tan Sri – these titles are up for sale by fraudsters, but some individuals also intentionally use unrecognised foreign titles here even though it isn’t allowed. A newly set up association wants to weed out the fakes by registering legal Datukships in Malaysia.
KOTA BARU: The Kelantan police have detained a man believed to have been using a fake “Datuk” title and another man suspected of posing as a member of the Kelantan royal family.
Both suspects were detained after police received a report from the Kelantan palace on Feb 25 regarding an individual who was allegedly falsifying documents and posing as a recipient of an award with the title of “Datuk” from the Kelantan palace, said Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat.
Based on further investigations, the police detained a 48-year-old civil servant in Machang on Feb 27.
“In the raid, the police confiscated a name card with a ‘Datuk’ title and investigations revealed that the suspect got the card from a man claiming to be a Kelantan royal, ” he told reporters at the Kelantan contingent police headquarters here.
