A quiet evening in Philadelphia after guilty verdicts
In Philadelphia, the area around City Hall — which for days last June pulsed with protestors following Floyd’s killing — resembled a normal Tuesday late afternoon following the verdict announcement.
People took photos near colorful flowers in Dilworth Park, where instead of a protestor screaming into a megaphone, a woman yelled out instructions to a socially-distanced exercise class.
But a sign of abnormality came just after 6 p.m., when eight National Guard vehicles pulled up alongside a municipal building carrying armed guards and supplies.
