Democrat Jennifer Brunner to run for Ohio Supreme Court chief justice: Capitol Letter
Rotunda Rumblings
Courting the voters: Ohio Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, announced Tuesday she’s running for chief justice adding intrigue to next year’s race to succeed Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor. Laura Hancock examines the role of the chief justice and what Brunner says she’ll do if elected to the position.
Money order: The Ohio Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday evening advanced the state budget bill with an “omnibus” amendment containing dozes of changes, Hancock reports, including restrictions on sex education and abortion clinics. Hancock also detailed in a separate report how the state will have to be cautious about not running afoul of U.S. Treasury rules for tax cuts in states accepting stimulus payments.
