Davidson County Community College changes name

Davidson County Community College is starting off the New Year with a new name. In an effort to more accurately signify the fact that the school serves two counties, the institution became Davidson Davie Community College on Jan. 1.
“We are changing our name to reflect what has always been true; we are a college that proudly serves Davidson and Davie counties, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds,” said DDCC Board of Trustees Chair Kevin Firquin in a video released to college employees on Thursday.
The college’s history dates back to the late 1950s when communities around the state began exploring the possibilities of developing industrial education centers with funding provided by the North Carolina General Assembly.
