Questions for the Prime Minister. Bruce cadbury. Question number one, mister speaker. Mister speaker, this morning i had meetings with ministerial colleagues and others following my duties in this house, this afternoon i have an audience with her majesty, the queen. I will continue my duties in this house in the back benches where i will be a member of parliament. Bruce cadbury. I profoundly disagree with many decisions the Prime Minister has made and many of the things she has said but i recognize that she does have a respect for Public Service and the future of our country. How does she feel about handing over to a man who among many things is happy to demonize women, is prepared to check our loyal Public Servants and diplomats under a bus, and promises to sell our country out to donald trump and his friends. I am pleased to hand over to an incoming leader of the conservative party and Prime Minister who i worked with when he was in my cabinet and is committed as a conservative, who stood on a conservative manifesto in 2017 to the delivering the vote of the british people in 2016 and delivering of Bright Future for this country. Blackburn. I rise to not only thank my right honorable friend for Loyal Service as Prime Minister over the last 3 years but also for her 33 years of Public Service which is a record to be proud of and to thank her for her personal support in helping me get my private members bill on the statute. Does my right honorable friend agree with me, to prevent people from becoming homeless, to use the taxation system to combat obesity and prevent people from it in the first place. Can i thank him for all the work he did on homelessness reduction and crucially we are seeing that act having an impact and that is so important for people benefiting from the work he did. He is doing a lot of work as far as smoking and health and i agree we need to view health as an asset to protect throughout our lives and that is why we are taking action on smoking and Childhood Obesity and we have delivered the biggest ever cash boost in the history of the National Health service in the longterm plan will focus on prevention, also focusing on Mental Health and making sure we are trying not to get into a situation where they are in that in the first place, preventing smoking, preventing obesity. Jeremy corbin. Today, today marks the final day in office of the Prime Minister and i pay tribute to her sense of public duty, Public Service should always be recognized. Being an mp, minister or Prime Minister is an honor that brings with it huge responsibility and huge pressures both personally and i am sure the Prime Minister and the whole house would agree on those closest to us who are not able to answer the criticisms made against them. I hope she has a marginally more relaxing time on the back benches and perhaps like the chancellor even helping me to oppose the reckless plans of her successor. [laughter] mister speaker, if i may continue, in the i am glad the Government Party is in such good heart today, mister speaker. Tomorrow they wont be. Mister speaker, in the last three years, Child Poverty has gone up. Pension poverty has gone up. In work poverty has gone up. Violent crime has gone up. Nhs waiting times of gone up. School class sizes have gone up. Homelessness has gone up. Food bank use has gone up. Does the Prime Minister have any regrets about any of those things i just said . Can i say to the right honorable gentlemen it is good to see the conservative party and the labour party. Let me tell the right honorable gentlemen about my record over the last three years and how i measure my record over the last three years, the opportunity for every child in a better school, in the comfort for every person who now has a job for the first time in their life. In the hope of every disadvantages young person able to go to university. And it is in the joy of every couple who can move into their own home because at its heart, politics, at its heart politics isnt about exchanges or eloquent speeches or media headlines, politics is about the difference we make every day to the people up and down the country. They are our reason for being here and we should never forget it. Politics is about real life and what people suffer in their ordinary lives and i didnt mention School Funding has gone down. Police numbers are down, gp numbers have fallen. In the 2017 conservative manifesto the Prime Minister promised no school would have its budget cut and they would protect tv licenses for 75 and rough sleeping which of these pleasures is the primacy most sorry has not been achieved . I am pleased to hear he spent some time Reading Conservative Party manifesto in 2017. Had he read it property, hes not known for reading documents. Had he read it properly, by 2022, to stop us leaving by 2027. Im pleased to say in the last year we have seen, we have seen particularly going down in those areas where this government has been taking action. Jeremy corbin. Dont know where the primacy get her figures from. All i know is i travel around this country just like other members of this house and talk to people who had a disaster in their lives and end up sleeping. We are the fifth richest country in the world. It is wrong for anyone to end up sleeping on the street of this country. We can and should do something about it. I have often disagreed with the Prime Minister and have many criticisms of her policies but i welcome the reduction in fixed odds betting terminals, the adoption of the Childrens Funeral Fund and stripping employment tribunal fees. Which of these policies is the Prime Minister most proud of . I am proud of all the policies we have introduced in improving peoples lives. Im proud of the fact through management of the economy we have done we have seen more people in work in this country than ever before. There are more children in outstanding schools, im proud of the fact that entertainment gap between the disadvantaged and advantaged has been narrowed under this government and proud of the fact that we are seeing the biggest cash boost in history in the National Health service. We are insuring the most beloved institution in this country will be there for people into the future. This is a conservative government delivering on things that matter to people in their daytoday lives. The Prime Minister may have noticed none of those things i mentioned were in the conservative Party Manifesto in 2017 but every one of them was a labor pledge in 2017. On brexit the Prime Ministers own red line ruled out any sensible compromise deal. Only after she missed her own deadline to leave did the Prime Minister even begin to shift her position but by then she no longer had the authority to deliver. Her successor has no mandate at all. Does she have confidence the right honorable member of oxbridge will succeed where she has not . I say to the right honorable gentlemen i worked tirelessly to get a good deal for the uk and also worked hard to get that deal through this parliament. I voted for the deal. What did the right honorable gentlemen do . He voted against the deal, he voted to make no deal more likely and when there was a prospect of reaching consensus across the house the right honorable gentlemen walked away. Every stage is only interest has been playing party politics. And frankly he should be ashamed of himself. Weve had three years of bungled negotiations and the spectacle of a Prime Minister coming into office with no electoral mandate looking for a brexit deal that has been ruled out by the European Union or the case of a no deal ruled out by the majority in this house and anyone who understands the danger to the british economy of a no deal. The next Prime Minister thought the isle of man was in the European Union and the European Union made rules about kippers. But in fact was made by the government that he was part of. He said the uk could secure tariff free trade article 24 of the general agreement on tariffs and trade despite the trade secretary attorney general, governor of the bank of england all confirming that is not possible. At the start of 2018 it is coming, dont worry. [shouting] the start of 2018, the Prime Minister herself set up a new unit to counter fake news charged with combating disinformation. How successful does she think that has been . I say to the right honorable gentlemen i fear our success has not been what we want it to be with the fake news and information that he used about that dispatch. Maybe, maybe, mister speaker, she could have a word with her successor on the way out but let me conclude by welcoming some [shouting] let me conclude by welcoming some of the Prime Ministers notable uturns over the past couple years. The cruel dimension attacks were scrapped, plans to bring back grammar schools were ditched, the threat to the pensions were abandoned, withdrawal of winter fuel payments was dumped, the pledge to bring back foxhunting was dropped. And the plan to end Universal School for 5 to 7yearolds. The Prime Minister has dumped her own manifesto given that her successor has no mandate from the people, no mandate to move into office. Doesnt she agree the best thing the right honorable member could do later on today when he takes office is to call a general election and let the people decide their future. [shouting] my first answer to the right honorable gentlemen is now. And if he wants to talk about people ducking manifesto commitment and commitments made during the general election campaign, remember what the labour party right honorable gentlemen said about student debt . 2 after the election . He rode back on that promise. In the general election, he was committed what did he say after the general election . He has broken promise after promise to the people of this country but i say to the right honorable gentlemen this is the last time we will have this exchange across these dispatch boxes. I was going to say the strength of our british democracy the Prime Minister and leader of the opposition have these exchanges across their dispatch boxes every week. No quarter is sought and none is given. That is as it should be in our adversarial parliamentary democracy. He and i are very different people and we are very different politicians. I think the issues we approach in this country in different ways, i spent all but one of my years in this house on the front bench trying to implement the policies i believe in. He spent most of his time on the back benches campaigning for what he believes and often against his own party. What i think we have in common is a commitment to our constituencies. I saw that after the terrorist attack in his constituency and perhaps i could finish my exchange with him by saying this. As a party leader who has accepted when her time was up perhaps the time is now for him to do the same. [shouting] dont be shy, mister davis, assert yourself, we must hear from you. Thank you, mister speaker. I first met the honorable member when she was campaigning for me in the difficult dark days of the late 1990s. She has been a great friend of wales ever since. And only recently her government approved a number of grand issues in wales. Can i ask the honorable member, the Prime Minister to encourage her successor to bring forward a bill to extend the general election franchise to all british citizens living overseas. Can i think my honorable friend for his remark and for highlighting the work the government has done in wales. I would add to that 95,000 people in wales who have a pay raise this year as a result of National Living wage and we have seen employment in wales rise 167,000 since 2010. We have seen conservatives delivering for wales. I know the concern about the franchise issues for overseas voters and im sure that is something my successor will wish to look at but i also say to my honorable friend i discovered a new part of his past recently which is i believe he was once the bodyguard to the legendary hollywood actress lauren but call but call bacall. Is redfaced tells us all. Ian blackburn. Thank you, mister speaker. Prime minister, it is fair to say we have had our differences. Its not always been a shared meeting of minds but will the Prime Minister stands today, the time for holding the Prime Minister to account has passed. The burdens of office are considerable, the loneliness of leadership can be stark. We have clashed on political differences and stood together, the threats to the uk, the Prime Minister has made sure the opposition leaders were informed at key moments of National Security and in particular chief of staff Gavin Barwell has major i was kept informed of important developments. I wish you the best for the future. As the Prime Minister departs, is she confident the office of Prime Minister can be upheld by her successor . Can i first of all say to the right honorable gentlemen, his remarks, he is absolutely right, he and i have a difference of opinion on some key issues that i would be grateful for the position on some of those key issues of National Security when it has stood alongside the government as we have faced the actions of our enemies and can i also say to the right honorable gentlemen that i understand the point he has made about keeping opposition leaders in such an taken place and also take this opportunity to pay tribute to gavin who was the first class member of this house, third class minister and has been a firstclass chief of staff. I congratulate my right honorable friend for winning the conservative leadership election. He will take over as Prime Minister and i look forward to a firstclass conservative government under his leadership delivering to the whole of the United Kingdom. The Prime Minister has no mandate in scotland. He has no mandate from the people. The government he is forming has no mandate in scotland. Scotland deserves better. 60 of people in scotland are dismayed and disappointed by the new Prime Minister. We on these benches have tabled an early day motion with friends across this house rejecting this house before the members. Following parliaments overwhelming message, one of her first actions to sign it every day motion and the suspension of parliament under any circumstances. Can i say to the right honorable gentlemen, we do have differences on a number of issues. We both have a passion for delivering to the people of scotland which is part of the United Kingdom, taking scotland out of the United Kingdom. Can i say to him what we do have in this government is a mandate from the people to form a government of this country. That is how we run things in a parliamentary democracy that we have in this country. We have a mandate to deliver the result of the 2016 referendum and if he wants to deliver a mandate for the bridge people he should have voted for the deal taking us out of the eu. An aspirational project, would create an off road providing an alternative commuting route encouraging tourism and cycling and the health of the local population. Does the primacy agree that more funding should be made available with other similar projects . Can i recognize the importance, it is important for Peoples Health and the environment and with the health on the environment so we have doubled spending on cycling and walking in england with infrastructure pan and local authorities to take a strategic approach to planning in local cycling. For transporting Economic Development and that is an issue that is supported. Mister speaker, in newcastle, no joy of that. And may take comfort from that but as she considers her choices, working with her successor, can i ask her to work to bring dignity and choice to others. She is a waspy woman. Will she dedicate Prime Ministerial retirement to justice for all . First of all we have put 1 Million Pounds extra into the Pension System recognizing concerns that were expressed but she references what im going to be doing in the future. I will be continuing in this house as a member of parliament to maidenhead. Michael fabricant. Im sure my honorable friends will join me saying how pleased i am with the Economic Growth we have seen, output increased 27 , productivity at twice the National Rate last year and employment increased in 2011 and the combined authority shows what this leadership can do and how it can be the key to building a Strong Economy and fair society. Will a Prime Ministers active encouragement the mayor of west midland was elected in may 2017 and she has supported him and the region ever since over 2 billion pounds has peop that she continues in parliament as a strong advocate for local evolution. I run for the conversation for the west midland, and in the west midland ever since his election. Can i also thank my honorable friend for highlighting the work we have done for West Midlands government working with that combined authority showing benefits of local evolution my honorable friend has referred to. It is a good example of that Visionary Leadership in improving the lives of people. Outgoing american president s get to pardon anybody they want. If she could would she pardon her successor for sabotaging her premiership for his own personal ambition . I say to the honorable gentlemen that my successor will continue to deliver the conservative policies that improved the lives of people up and down this country since we were elected in 2010. There was a long list of improvements that have taken place in peoples way she does herself as Prime Minister and the dignified way she has approached the job and her responsibilities, can i ask her to reflect on the fact that when we joined the government in 2010, for every four pounds the government was spending we were borrowing 1 pound. As she leaves office today, for every 34 pounds the government spends we are borrowing one. She has left an economy that is in a much more stable position than it when it was inherited. To do that, estimating some very difficult choices, choices we may not have wanted to make but we got the economy on firm footing. Can i thank my right honorable friend for pointing out that fact about government borrowing and highlighting the work we have done for the economy delivering that approach and i like to thank my honorable for the chancellor for the work he has done in delivering that. It means borrowing at the levels in 17 years, that was an employment since the 1970s, wages growing at their fastest in a decade and debt falling. That is what my government has delivered, more jobs, healthier finances, and economy fit for the future. Thank you, mister speaker. The Education Select Committee promises a report on friday, to urgently address underfunded and further education by increasing the amount to 4760 pounds. Would the Prime Minister agree raising the rates will benefit the quality of my constituency as well as many qualities which are also under severe financial pressure, some of which are actually going under . I say to the honorable lady the select Committee Reports with care but actually my commission to review the funding in education, that review has been clear the more money needs to go to further education and more money i want to see that happening and just as my government has given priority to National Health service in looking at funding for the future the next government should give priority to education so that we can see the money going into fbn 64 and every young person has an avenue to education and training that suits their challenge and gives them the best opportunity for the future. The Prime Minister has always been a great champion of victims of Domestic Violence as Prime Minister and home secretary and she directed many millions of pounds during her time into improving support services. But does she agree with me there is much more work to be done in terms of prevention and Early Intervention and the ongoing skepticism that greets many victims when they report violence . I think my honorable friend and thank her for the work that i know she did in Legal Practice before coming into the house, the victims of Domestic Violence. This is an important issue, im proud of the Domestic Abuse bill that was introduced in this house and look forward to the debates on that bill as it goes through parliament. My honorable friend is right that we need to continue to make sure we are working on prevention and continuing to raise awareness. We must ensure that Domestic Violence is seen for what it is. These are criminal acts being perpetrated. And domestic, we need to take touristic violence very seriously to ensure that we take appropriate action in relation to that support and feel confident to come forward at the earliest opportunity to report what is happening. My constituents are waiting for experiences, a decorated soldier for 29 years and in 2018 he was killed believed, driven by soldiers. And had an answer that came to her state. And can the pm assure that will be a continuing cause of the state. He raised an issue of great concern for members across the house and to the family of his constituents. And the response on this issue. Could i thank my right honorable friends for working and supporting and overseeing the Global Health program, and vaccinations and polio eradication for which she has been internationally recognized and safeguarded millions of childrens lives across the world. The need to combat misinformation and more than it ever has been. Note the importance of this program and a self Standing Department for International Development. I think my right honorable friends, enabling me to congratulate and commend the work done by my constituents with rotary international in their words against polio. Can i also say to him it is important that we do combat disinformation about vaccination and ensure people are willing to have those vaccinations which will change their lives to ensure they can lead healthy lives rather than succumbing to diseases and conditions that have an impact on their lives. I am proud of the fact that we have a problem with International Development and legislated 4. 7 to be spent on developing data overseas. That an important government of global our standing in the world. Thank you, mister speaker. Last friday i had the honor of witnessing the presentation to helen who is a constituent for the work she did have a code breaker in world war ii. She played a Critical Role defeating the most disgusting fascist ideology. The Prime Minister on her last day of the dispatch box join me in saying all politicians should remember the common goals that United People like helen. They must never resort to nor fail to call out nationalistic rhetoric which victimizes minorities or he spouted racism and if they do, they are neither fit to be a president nor a Prime Minister. Can i say to the right honorable gentlemen, and a number of occasions, all in public life to be careful about the language we use and to ensure you we give a clear message, or racism or hate crime and we should act to ensure we deliver on those sentiments. And thank helen for her work. They played an absolutely crucial part in our ability to defeat fascism in the Second World War and we should be very proud of the work they did and im grateful for the opportunity he has given for the house to celebrate it. Commending the Prime Minister, for her courage, whatever our views on brexit and other issues and the support she received from her husband philip. For many of us, husbands, wives, partners are unsung heroes. She is going to the palace this afternoon and we assume she will recommend the right honorable member of oxbridge succeeds her as Prime Minister but can she tell the house one piece of hard advice she would like to give him on being Prime Minister . [laughter] mister speaker, can i say a number of my honorable friends suggesting that advice for a reading list. And an opportunity for doing something which may not thank me for but i am taking a lead from you, mister speaker and say im pleased to see my husband in the gallery today. Thank you, mister speaker. I disagree with the Prime Minister on many aspects of policy and the work she has done the last few years but it would be wrong not to commend the Prime Minister on the phenomenal work she has done on bringing forward the issue and so i congratulate her in doing that. Last year we locked up 507 potential victims of modern slavery, that cant be right. Surely we need to change Public Policy to treat them as victims, not as criminals. I think the honorable gentlemen for his remarks and i thank him for the work he has done on the issue of modern slavery. Weve spoken on a number of occasions and he has been a great champion of this issue as well. In the modern slavery ask we passed in 2015 we did take action in relation to those individuals who could find themselves at the receiving end of criminal charges effectively because they had been forced to act in that way because of modern slavery and that was dealt with in that issue. We have been looking at how we deal with victims the referral mechanism and it is important we have an independent review of the modern slavery act with a number of recommendations for improving the way victims are treated and with recommendations on board. To the honorable gentlemens mention of modernday slavery it is right to record that my right honorable friend has long interesting service in this house both in government and in opposition but her commitment to Public Service has been outstanding. Her vision and determination to bring forward legislation against modernday slavery led the world so i hope my right honorable friends will continue her fight against slavery with us from the back benches so that we stamp out this evil scourge together. I look forward to joining her on the back benches and continuing to campaign on this issue and i would pay tribute to her for the work she has done on this issue. It is an absolute scourge. We must continue to fight it and raise awareness of it because their too many people today, british citizens who find themselves taken into effective slavery. We must raise awareness of this and constantly work to combat it and end it. Paul sweeney. The Prime Minister has spoken of industrial strategy during her time in office but it is effectually known as the callie, close by asset stripping. Ending 163 years of engineering excellence and the jobs of 200 skilled workers. The scottish and uk government with closure announced late last year. The workforce has been left devastated. The Prime Minister is losing her own job today, not instruct the government to do what it can to save these vital jobs. Will she commit to doing that . I recognize the concern he is showing for his constituency and the worry and concern for those people employed in the business he has referred to. Whenever we see closures of factories and industrial sites, government to ensure support is available for those who find themselves losing their job should that be the case. I say to the honorable gentlemen he said i said i talked of having an industrial strategy, we have a modern industrial strategy. It is a modern industrial strategy which is setting the background and framework which will enable the economy of the United Kingdom to be in economy for the 21st century. No doubt i think the Prime Minister is a thoroughly good egg and it is a privilege to serve on the back benches with her. Mister speaker, this Prime Ministers commitment to Mental Health has been fantastic but it was fantastic when she was home secretary and fantastic as Prime Minister. The stevenson farmer review into Mental Health, the review on the Mental Health act. Her commitment to reducing the tragedy of suicide and putting the Office Behind that and introduction of places of safety with people experiencing Mental Health crisis. We have been filling the Prime Ministers diary future commitments as she offered the next chapter of her political life but can she find space for a few more paragraphs on Mental Health . I think my honorable friend for his intervention, his question and i thank him and the honorable friend for the dignified way in which they conducted the conservative Party Leadership election. He has been an advocate for government doing more Mental Health during his time in this house and championed the need to do more on Mental Health. I want to ensure that we do take forward and set the record and putting record funding and having those essential reviews. We now need to ensure that we implement the proposals, take this forward because if we do so we will make a significant improvement in the lives of people with Mental Health problems. Professor john snowden has received a tough nhs award on stem cell transplantation. I would like to declare my personal interest in this, john snowden and his team are responsible for my own transplant last year for multiple myeloma, a form of cancer. As she steps down as Prime Minister and remains mp, will she support any form that prevents john snowden continuing to work with eu colleagues on the board of the European Society for blood and marrow transplantation which will advance this treatment the patients with myeloma, ms and leukemia . I say to the honorable gentlemen first of all i commend the individual he has referred to for the work he is doing. Im not aware of the potential organization he has referred to. Can i say to the honorable gentlemen i do want to see a relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union that enables our scientists, enable their academics to continue to work with those in the eu and the rest of the world to do the pioneering work which as the honorable gentlemen has said is changing peoples lives and improving them for the better . A singular denizen of the house. The Prime Minister and i, in 1997. As she reflects on the front bench, will she count among the greatest achievements, the number of households which succor personal responsibility. And nurture communal pride . Will she continue that work in uniting the whole house . I think my honorable friend for the work when he was home office minister. He worked hard to ensure an extremely important pioneering piece of legislation. The investigating powers act went through this house and im happy to welcome the fact that we now have that low number of working households in this country and we would like to do better and see further in their own lives. An important day to reduce the number of work less households to be accepted in champions across the whole house. I start by associating myself completely with the financer the primacy gave the leader of the opposition about his need to consider his future and can i tell you this as well . Hold on, hold on. It is absolutely clear to me that the vast majority agree with her too. Mister speaker, mister speaker, hundreds of people, hundreds of people come to my Community Meetings in the last few weeks worried about antisocial behavior, worried about surgeries and crime too. They want more police on the street and more criminals locked up. Will she urge her successor to make sure west Midland Police to keep people in deadly safe . Can i congratulate the honorable gentlemen on his appointment, he has done a lot of work on antisemitism and needs to be congratulated for that work. We have been insuring more money into these offices to be available to Police Forces this year and many people around the country are recruiting more offices but can i say, the theme the honorable gentlemen started i would imagine to him and others, a great number of sadness that is right honorable friend, the leader of the opposition took the labour party through voting against extra money and extra powers. Victoria brinson. First people were killed in italy yesterday and tens of thousands of people displaced again. I would like to thank the Prime Minister for her personal commitment to syria and International Development more widely and i would like her to join with me in reassuring the people of syria that all of us will continue to remember them. First of all i commend the work she did in setting up syria which has been raising fundss in syria and the commitment she has shown to the people of syria. We remain in the conservative government committed to working for a political solution. For the stability and security of the people of syria. I join others in thanking the Prime Minister for years of Public Service as home secretary and thoroughly decent and dedicated honorable courteous and proper way in her meetings with us as a party. We ensured that is a conservative and unionist government of the United Kingdom which will please many in this house and also please other members by saying we ensured there was no early general election. Neither the Prime Minister has more time in her hands, i urge her to come to Northern Ireland, many working opportunities, she will have seen the wonderful open championship in royal port, a credit to Northern Ireland, a credit to the United Kingdom, the warm hospitality of the people of Northern Ireland and very open to her as well. I think the right honorable gentlemen and thank him for the discussions we have had and the support he continues to give to the Unionist Party so there is a conservative and unionist government in this country. Can i thank him for the warm welcome he has given . I would like to congratulate those in Northern Ireland who put on the championship at port rush, the slight issue is the weather which favors those who came close to the top of the championship and it was an excellent championship and many people have seen the delights and benefits of Northern Ireland when they attended that event. Mister speaker, as somebody who has not seen eye to i with the Prime Minister, theres a remarkable Public Service. And that highest of virtues, since of duty and on top of that being willing to deal with people who have been annoying to her with enormous purposes. On behalf of many people may i think the Prime Minister. Can i think the honorable gentlemens voice carries, i was able to hear his question but i was interested to hear the outside. I think the honorable friend for his remarks and the deck of this place is about debate, argument and discussion about the issues we all believe that matter to us all. In those debates and discussions are best held when they are held with respect and courtesy. I think my honorable friend for the courtesy has shown in our discussions together and i look forward to continuing those discussions on the back benches. Thank you, mister speaker. When i think of girls growing up in eastern it is inspiring to them in positions of power. As first minister of scotland and Prime Minister. I asked the Prime Minister what advice she has for women across the country on how to deal with those men who think they can do a better job but are not prepared to do the actual work . Prime minister. I think my advice to all women is be true to yourself, persevere and be true to the vision you are working for. I congratulate the right honorable lady as leader of her party. I am pleased there is a member representing scottish constituency, leader of the United Kingdom party. We are one United Kingdom, mps for the four nations of our unions on the basis of that. I also say to the honorable lady i congratulate her on being the first to lead the liberal party and as i stands down i had the baton to another female leader of a political party. As you look around the chamber we almost have the same a we had two women leaders. The liberal party has a woman leader. The s p has a woman leader as to the du p, pride in the green pass. Wait for it. Even the independent group change uk. That is what they are calling themselves this week. Now on to their second woman leader. There is only one party in this house, the labour party. Ellen blakely. Thank you, mister speaker. My honorable friend, thank you for all she has done for women and in parliament and in this country. From cofounding women to tackling Domestic Abuse and modern slavery, to make them more equal. We urge her successor to build on her work and make britain the best place in the world to be a woman. To urge that commitment to the future, i think my honorable friend for raising this issue. I am pleased that under my government, a record percentage of women on executive boards. We are seeing with this roadmap how we can empower women in this country from school to requirement. There are no limits how far they can go and what they do with their lives. We have disagreed on many things. The Prime Minister knows i have respect her resilience, her commitment for public duty and her seriousness. And her work on the National Security and there is much to be done from the back benches. I say to her that i believe she was not the kind of person who would take this into no deal not least because of the advice she had on the risks to National Security. I am fearful about her successor. Can she reassure me she really thinks in her heart that her successor will take those as seriously as she has, will she speak out . I have every confidence her successor will take all the issues in making these decisions and others across government as seriously as they need to be taken. I say to her, i will say this. She is absolutely right that i always said it is better to leave with a good deal. I voted three times in this house for good deal. I spoke to the right honorable lady about this issue. If she was so concerned about the security aspects, she should have voted for the deal. The Prime Minister, in every aspect of her public life. Without understanding artistic people and their families which number 2. 8 million in the uk, and Mental Health problems. And thinking of the Prime Minister for all the work she has done furthering issues surrounding Mental Health and removing the stigma can we ask her after she left the front bench, spent more meaningful time with her husband philip, if she will join the all Party Parliamentary group model. And an advocate for that throughout the country. I thank her for the groundbreaking work she has done in 2009. I think it was that act that helped to raise Peoples Awareness of the issues of people on the autistic spectrum and a greater understanding of what we need to do to enable people with autism to lead fulfilling lives. There are many issues i want to take an interest in on the back bench and this is one along with the wider issue. I want to continue to look at and i have committed to taking the autism training that the group is made available from the parliament. She is only the second woman ever to have held that office, and she put tackling Human Trafficking and the horrors of Domestic Violence as a priority at the heart of her government. And can i i say in that respect her legacy is secure because everyone in this house acts that and we will all be committed to taking that forward. Even her harshest critics must recognize her integrity, her commitment to Public Service, her dedication to this country. And those are qualities that none of us should ever take for granted. But kevin just offer her a word of sisterly advice . Sometimes just have to be a bit more careful when the a man wao hold your hand. [laughing] i think her for her service as our Prime Minister and i sincerely wish you all the very best in the future. Prime minister. Can i thank the right honorable lady for her question. Of course she joined the cells in 1982 when there was a female Prime Minister but very few women in this house, she is played very Important Role and she can be proud of the role she played and ensure more women came into this house. She started something with is started to change the face of this house which has been very important. I came her 1997 as one of only 13 conservative women and one member approach me to encouragement because he assumed if i was a woman i mustve have been a labour member of parliament. Im also proud to have played my part in getting more women mps in the sets and sure amongst the women in this house today there is a future Prime Minister, maybe more than one. As a said earlier i will return to the back benches and it will be my first time in 21 years, quite a change and stand at the dispatch box. Im told over the last three years ive answered over 4500 questions over 140 hours in this house. More than a might have expected, mr. Speaker. [laughing] in future i look forward to asking the question, but we are as the right honorable lady has said living through extraordinary political times. This house of commons is rightly at the center of those events and thats because of the vital link tween every Single Member of this house and the communities, the comments we represent. Thats the bedrock of our parliamentary democracy and of our liberty. Each one of us wherever we sit whatever we stand for can take pride in that. And that duty to serve my constituents will remain my greatest motivation. Hear, hear. [applause] cspan washington journal live every day.
