KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Malaysia's daily Covid-19 cases topped 4,000 for the first time today at 4,029, which pushed the cumulative number of confirmed infections in the country to 155,095. Eight more deaths were reported, bringing the coronavirus' death toll here to 594.
According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), eight of the new cases were imported, whereby the individuals were infected overseas, while the rest were local transmissions, comprising 2,711 citizens and 1,310 non-citizens.
Selangor contributed the highest proportion of cases at 1,466 (36.4% of total new infections), followed by Johor (719 cases), Sabah (449 cases), Kuala Lumpur (347 cases) and Negeri Sembilan (214 cases).
As for the eight new deaths reported, four were from Sabah and one each was recorded in Selangor, Perak, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang.
