It was the news no one wanted to hear on a Sunday afternoon, but from 6pm most West Australians will go back into full lockdown after 10 months of no COVID-19 community spread.
The announcement by Premier Mark McGowan comes after a quarantine hotel security guard tasked with watching a floor of returned overseas travellers tested positive for the virus on the weekend.

Authorities suspect the man, aged in his 20s, could have contracted the highly contagious UK strain of the virus, which has been wreaking havoc across Europe, on Tuesday or Wednesday.
