Skyrocketing coronavirus cases have led to more business restrictions in Pennsylvania for the next three weeks, including no indoor dining, closing gyms and pausing high school sports until Jan. 4.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced late Thursday afternoon an order prohibiting indoor dining and closing theaters, casinos and other "similar entertainment, recreational or social facilities" through the holidays.
Bucks County officials and restaurant owners expressed disappointment. One Bucks business owner met the announcement with defiance, saying his fitness center would remain open.
"I certainly understand the Governor felt he needed to do something to stem the high tide of cases. However, I do feel very badly for the affected businesses, and was hoping we could have been successful reducing the cases prior to implementing any additional restrictions," county Health Department Director Dr. David Damsker said in an email Thursday evening.
