Cops urged to play greater role in community policing

AFTER successfully completing courses for mounted horsemanship and canine handling, officers of the police mounted and canine branch are being encouraged to play a proactive role in community policing and outreach programmes.
A police media release on Friday reported that 14 officers from the unit completed the courses and were awarded for their efforts during a graduation ceremony at the branch’s St Joseph office. Speaking at the ceremony head of Executive Management Services Cmdr Sheldon Edghill urged the officers to continue their efforts in community support initiatives and said their roles were necessary in bringing about positive social change.
