ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo released new guidelines Wednesday for large-scale outdoor event venues, and there’s been some confusion about which venues the new guidelines apply to.
The new guidelines say that large-scale outdoor events—like concerts and sporting events—are only limited by the space available for patrons to maintain social distancing. It also says that vaccinated patrons can sit at full capacity without social distancing.
Sporting event venues like Frontier Field are moving forward with plans to enforce vaccinated and non-vaccinated seating sections. The stadium is also requiring proof of either a full COVID vaccination or a negative test in order to enter. A major difference, however, between sporting event venues like Frontier Field and other “large-scale” outdoor venues is fixed seating. If a venue has fixed seating, it has a bit more flexibility with how it can separate vaccinated and non-vaccinated people. But what about parks, concert lawns, and other outdoor spaces without fixed seating?
