Clemson, S.C. – On Tuesday, April 25, the ACC announced that Clemson’s Sofia Chepenik and Paris Masaracchia were among the 12 freshmen voted on ACC’s All-Freshman team. The only two freshmen in Clemson’s starting lineup, Chepenik and Masaracchia have been key to Clemson’s success this season. “It’s great to see Paris and Sofia recognized on the all-freshman team after being such strong contributors all season,” said Head Coach Allison Kwolek. “This is a testament to their incredible work ethic and energy that they bring on a daily basis. We are excited about their future impacts on our Clemson Program.” Chepenik has played a vital role in Clemson’s offense as she has earned the third most number of points on Clemson’s team with 57 total. The attacker leads Clemson in assists and is ranked No. 10 in assists in the ACC with 20. Chepenik has scored three or more goals in five games this season. In Clemson’s upset over Duke, Chepenik led Clemson in scoring with four goals, including scoring the game tying and game winning goals. Her impressive performance against Duke earned her ACC Offensive Player of the Week. Inside Lacrosse named Masaracchia a top-100 incoming freshman in the preseason and she has proven herself deserving of this honor this season. The defender has played a critical role on the draw circle, securing 41 total which is the third most on the team. In addition, she has caused 11 turnovers, picked up 26 ground balls, and scored two goals. Expect Chepenik and Masaracchia to be major contributors for Clemson as they face North Carolina Wednesday, April 26 in the Quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
