The Park Rapids City Council on Jan. 12 debated refunding a property tax penalty incurred by the Armory Arts and Event Center for the second half of 2020.
The city closed on the purchase of the historic armory and its annex on May 19 of last year and has a lease agreement with the Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation (MMCDC), which sublets the property to the Park Rapids Armory Arts and Event Center (PRAAEC) to operate the facility as a cultural venue.
