Humane society: Council renewed its contract with the Quinte Humane Society for a five-year term, agreeing to pay $3,389 per month for the society’s services.
The services include housing stray animals found in the city.
Coun. Bill Sandison asked for a report from the chief bylaw officer to detail the number of animals collected in Belleville in 2019 and 2020, along with the society’s related costs and what services are funded by the contract with Belleville. Belleville’s payments increase by about three per cent annually and Sandison said that may not be doing the society “any favours.”
