The World Famous Armadillo Festival returns this week and while it will be the 51st year since the founding 1970 happening, pandemic precautions last year mean this will be celebrated as the 50th event!
Festival entertainment begins Wednesday with carnival armband night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and continues through Saturday with food, live music, a street dance, arts and craft vendors, and competitions.
Crawfish on the square starts the food fun at noon Thursday with Chester Huntsman and The Groove Diggers stepping in to play from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Friday night things will get going with a street dance at 6 p.m. featuring a photo booth and costume contest. Mr. Cabbage Head and the Screaming Radishes will perform from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. followed by DJ Rojelio from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
