Cathedral City residents appear to have chosen to phase out most short-term rentals in the city by 2023, according to updated election results released a week after election day.
As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Yes on Measure B was leading with 5,000 votes, while 2,939 votes had been cast for No on Measure B with 7,946 votes counted and all 13 precincts reporting.
There are approximately 26,184 registered voters in Cathedral City.
The next updated results will be posted on March 18, when the Riverside County Registrar of Voters also plans on certifying the election results.
A “yes” vote on Measure B upholds Ordinance 842, which includes the phase-out provision passed unanimously by the Cathedral City Council last September. A “no” vote will revert to a prior set of regulations on short-term rentals in the city.
