Three Vermont nonprofit organizations received grants through the USA TODAY Network's A Community Thrives program.
A Community Thrives is a grant program from the USA TODAY Network and is part of the Gannett Foundation. It supports nonprofit organizations with projects focused on community with crowdfunding and through the awarding of more than $12 million in grants over the last three years.

Jen Berger and Joan Ouimette, both of Burlington, meet for the first time in August 2020 after talking weekly for four months. The two were paired in the Support Buddies program, a partnership between the Heineberg Senior Center and HANDS (Helping and Nurturing Diverse Seniors) during the pandemic.
