ISLAMABAD: The Patron-in-chief of APTMA Gohar Ejaz, has asked the fertilizer manufacturers to abstain from using white polyester bags, arguing Pakistani ginned cotton contains nylon thread originating from polypropylene bags contaminated by fertilizer, which is the biggest source of contamination, degrading its quality and fetching lower value in market.
The contamination in hand-picked cotton is one of the most pressing issues influencing the quality and value of cotton, APTMA s Gohar Ejaz said in his press release. Also copied to Razak Dawood, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce,
Investment and Textiles, Ejaz said that untrained cotton pickers and substandard ginning all add to cotton fetching lower value in the market.
