Blue Ridge Police Chief Johnny Scearce remained in the hospital Wednesday as he continued a three-month battle against COVID-19.
According to a GoFundMe page, Scearce is hospitalized in Chattanooga, TN which has created a “tremendous financial strain on his family,” due to weekly stays at local lodging. The page says Scearce’s family can visit him daily.
“Chief Scearce has dedicated his life as a public servant and is one of the longest-tenured police chiefs in the state of GA,” reads the page.
The City of Blue Ridge website states Scearce has held the position since 1991, longer than any other chief in the city’s history.
