“Many women,” says King Solomon of Ancient Israel, “have done well. You have done excellently.” These are the words that one can only imagine that Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State speaks to his dear wife and First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi. Like an empress happy to drive her husband’s dreams to manifestation but neglecting none of her own, Erelu Fayemi has really done well since assuming the office of Ekiti First Lady in 2018.
There is likely no other incumbent Nigerian first lady as actively involved in her state’s governance as Erelu. Folks who doubted the validity of such reports saw her exert herself to ensure her people’s health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using everything in her arsenal, Erelu Fayemi organised a team and immediately set up measures to curb it. It is on record that Ekiti recorded one of the lowest numbers of casualties and infected people in Nigeria.
