Bills honoring Raskin’s son, expanding broadband signed into law
Maryland honored the late son of Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on Tuesday by enacting a law that allows people with mental health concerns to opt in to wellness checks, one of dozens of bills during the General Assembly’s just-concluded 90-day session.
The Thomas Bloom Raskin Act expands access to the state’s 211 system and allows people in mental distress to request periodic phone calls from a team staffing a crisis hotline. It honors Raskin’s son, Tommy, 25, who died by suicide late last year. [Washington Post]
