Belmont University has named its new College of Medicine after HCA Healthcare co-founder Thomas Frist Jr.
The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine, the plans for which were announced last October, has yet to open to students. The medical program is being established in partnership with HCAâs local arm TriStar Health, which will provide residencies and clinical rotations for Belmontâs medical students.
The inaugural class of Nashvilleâs newest medical school is anticipated to top 150 students, with an expected enrollment of 500 to 600 students per year once the college reaches full capacity.
âWe know that we will have to earn a world-class reputation over time, but we intend to deliver a world-class learning environment beginning on day one with outstanding faculty, staff, students, physical resources and clinical experiences,â Belmont President Bob Fisher said in a press release.
