Belmont names new medical school after HCA co-founder Thomas Frist Jr.


Belmont University has named its new College of Medicine after HCA Healthcare co-founder Thomas Frist Jr.
The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine, the plans for which were announced last October, has yet to open to students. The medical program is being established in partnership with HCA’s local arm TriStar Health, which will provide residencies and clinical rotations for Belmont’s medical students.
The inaugural class of Nashville’s newest medical school is anticipated to top 150 students, with an expected enrollment of 500 to 600 students per year once the college reaches full capacity.
“We know that we will have to earn a world-class reputation over time, but we intend to deliver a world-class learning environment beginning on day one with outstanding faculty, staff, students, physical resources and clinical experiences,” Belmont President Bob Fisher said in a press release. ....

Peter Kaprielyanhas added chief development officer of the
Inspira Health Foundation to his existing responsibilities at South Jersey-based Inspira Health. The nonprofit foundation supports the provider network’s programs and care services through philanthropy.
Kaprielyan has been at the health system for 20 years and was the vice president of organizational improvement and philanthropy at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, which merged with South Jersey Healthcare to form Inspira Health in 2012.
He held the position of vice president of government and external relations at Inspira Health since that time and will continue in that role alongside the new title.
Kaprielyan has also held positions at hospitals and medical colleges over the course of his career and serves on the boards of local government groups. ....
