Largest cities. Finally, we have not seen it yet but it is very likely that china is likely to have another round of fiscal stimulus. I will say that this is something that we have not seen in a few years, not since early 20102 after the global financial crisis. I think it is a clear message that the government is willing to increase support for economic growth and people's confidence. Talking of efforts to try and reboot growth. Thailand will start handing out $300 to every citizen — part of a $14 billion stimulus package. The scheme has been criticised by economists, including two former central bank governors — who say it is fiscally irresponsible. The government rejects that, but has struggled to find sources of funding. The japanese market has fallen by more than 4%, a reaction to the leadership contest for the country's next prime minister. He is a known critic of the extraordinary stimulus and has signalled he would support more interest rate hikes. A stronger currency ways on revenue of japan's many exporters and makes japanese equities more expensive for overseas investors. Around 16,000 union workers are set to walk off the job in the us. Strike could cost as much as $5 billion daily because of shipping delays and disrupted supply chains. 36 ports are likely to be affected and they make up about half of america's ocean imports. Bananas, clothes and cars shipped by container among the goods likely to see delays. It's officially the last day of the third quarter — and this year's q3 saw market volatility, spurred by fears of a slowdown in the us. Concerns also that the federal reserve were too slow to lower the cost of borrowing, despite that rate cut earlier this month. David kuo from the smart investor looked at the health of the us economy ahead of uncertainty from the presidential election. I think what the fed has actually done, the federal reserve has done, is send a signal that interest rates have rates have probably peaked and what we are seeing around the rest of the world is that people are beginning, well, central bankers are beginning to cut interest rates and as long as interest rates continue to be cut, of course there is a good chance that markets could climb between now and the end of the year. But many markets are at a multi—year high already and i think that is worrying people. They say will earnings be able to keep up with stockmarket rises? if earnings can then there is a pretty good chance that stock markets will be fairly resilient and i think people will have a good end to 202k. So you expect earnings to come in positively? there is every sign. Having said that some companies are struggling because what has been happening over the first nine months of this year, if not last year is that many companies have been able to pass on their price increases as a result of inflation to consumers but what we hear from many companies now is that consumers are getting weary. They find it difficult to pay those prices so i do not think we will be able to get price increases anymore but i think what companies will try and do is be a little more creative in terms of how they pass on those price increases. We have heard about shrinkflation where they reduce the size of things. There is only so far you can go with that. So they need to be a lot more creative now. And in 04 you think that the fed will continue to lower rates? that is a tough one because i have this feeling that is probably one and done for the rest of this year, i don't think they will cut interest rates any further. Ithink. . . The problem with the fed is that they have a mandate. They have to look at inflation and they have to look at unemployment and jobs and jobs figures will come out at the end of this week and if those figures are strong then i would think that the federal reserve may hold off on any more interest rate cut. The us election in november, we ask every guest this question regardless of the topic, what are your thoughts on how that could impact markets? i have a feeling that that is probably one of the reasons why i think the federal reserve may be reluctant to cut interest rates because whoever wins, i think it will be quite inflationary. In the case of donald trump it is a case of slap on tariffs and then cut taxes. That will put money into the pockets of consumers and in the case of kamala harris it will be a case of increase taxes and then spend that money within the economy. Both those things are inflationary and puts the fed in a position for 2025. The governor of california has vetoed a landmark artificial intelligence safety bill. The legislation could have provided some of the first regulations for aia models in the united states. In his statement, he said the bill applied stringent regulation to even the most basic functions and it would not be the best way to protect the public from threats posed by the technology. Critics say the law will stifle innovation in the sector. The ai revolution is transforming workplaces across the world. And one group is best placed to unlock its potential — dyslexic thinkers. That's according to virgin group chief executive sir richard branson, who has launched the first online university to teach dyslexic thinking skills. Rithika gupta went to find out how dyslexic minds can help to bridge the ai—skills gap. Dominic is a psychology student with dyslexia and always struggled with spelling at school. I used to spell 'which' incorrectly. My b and d i would switch all the time. But now he has other powerful tools at his disposal thanks to artificial intelligence. Research finds that dyslexics are enthusiastic early adopters. I am not as good at making things as i am imagining them so it is definitely learning how to create things and it can definitely be helpful and that is where ai comes in. Experiences like dominic's are the driving force behind the launch of the first university of dyslexic thinking founded by sir richard branson who has famously called dyslexia his superpower. It is aimed at teaching the world how to think like a dyslexics. Speaking to attendees here it is about seeing things differently that helps dyslexic minds innovate. Some of the greatest breakthroughs have been created by dyslexic minds such as the light bulb and iphone. At the event a key focus is the ai revolution and how those with dyslexia could unlock its full potential. Ai is wonderful at spewing forth lots of knowledge and lots of information. Dyslexics can then take that information and put it to good use. Dyslexic people are imaginative and they can see what the eye cannot and they can bring it to live. The world economic forum predicts technology could eliminate 85 million jobs by 20 to 85. But dyslexic thinking skills like creativity and curiosity cannot be replaced by machines. It cannot replicate our new ideas, it can only do what it knows already. So while organisations adapt to the ai revolution, dyslexic thinkers could help to bridge the skills gap and drive future innovation.
