That is some 1800 km away, so the reach of Israels Military is long and they say that the strikes were in response to attacks on israel by iranian backed houthis in a human. Yemen. You get to know since this is getting contained. What this is getting contained. What do ou this is getting contained. What do you think this is getting contained. What do you think israels this is getting contained. What do you think israels wider do you think israels wider plan is at the Moment . Because this started with those attacks in lebanon, those Exploding Pages and walkie talkies. This would appear to be of carefully planned operation. Absolutely, and Israels Planned operation. Absolutely, and Israels Plan planned operation. Absolutely, and Israels Plan is planned operation. Absolutely, and Israels Plan is pretty and Israels Plan is pretty clear too eradicate the threat from hezbollah, who they say is backed by ironic, and they want to return some 60,000 citizens from israel backed by iran. They want them to allow to go home. They set that as one of their main priorities. I think you get the sense that israel at the Moment feels like its got its foot on the throat of hezbollah and is going to keep applying the pressure. No matter what the International Community said, International Community said, in particular, The Americans who have been pushing for a Cease Fire for a long time now in gaza while israel doesnt seem to be taking any notice it says it will do whatever it takes to defend its citizens. What kind of conversations do you think are likely to happen among World Leaders at the Moment . As you rightly say, they keep talking about the escalation, but the facts on the ground look very different. Theyre very different, and you have to remember that when this really escalated on friday with the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, that was coordinated to be in time almost exactly with when prime Minister Netanyahu was giving his speech to the United Nations a very defiant speech. When he went to New York to give that speech, there was talk of a Cease Fire deal with hezbollah in lebanon, which The Americans have been pushing for. Clearly, that was never the plan for the israelis. I think theyre determined to do what they think is necessary. As hugo suggested, the fear in lebanon is that will have to involve a Ground Invasion. The last time that happened back in 2006, when there was a full Scale War between israel and hezbollah, israel was pushed back. There are risks with that. It would mean the loss of life of soldiers, but at the Moment, israel is pushing forward. Ian israel is pushing forward. Jon donnison. Israel is pushing forward. Jon donnison, thank you. The lebanese prime Minister Najib Mikati has warned that A Million people have been displaced. For a week now, people have been leaving their homes and in the East And South in the beka valley. People have been living on The Streets for several night, too scared to go back to their homes. There are fears that ultimately 1 Million ultimately1 Million people could be displaced. Translation One Million lebanese people have moved from one place to another. It has never happened in history, that they have have moved in hours. We are dealing with all sides of this problem. 0ur middle East CorrespondentNafiseh Kohnavard has this update from beirut, where shes been speaking to displaced people whove spent the night sleeping in a park. These people behind me are families spending the second night in The Street with no help and no Support. They have to stay in this small park, and we saw a lot of other families, they were just sleeping in The Street. There is no place for them to go back. Some of them decided to go to syria, to return to syria, and also some lebanese decided to go to syria because they think syria now, for example damascus, will be safer than beirut itself. So, this is the situation. The whole night we had drones it is believed theyre israeli civilian drones. The buzzing was so strong. And still i am hearing them, like a big mosquito or a motorcycle in the sky. And this is the situation, that people think the attacks, the israeli attacks, they will continue. Its very hot now. Its very hot and these people are staying here, just using the small shadow that they can take from some trees in these parks. And many others, they cant even find a shadow and they cant find food and they cant find enough water. They left their houses with very short notice from the israeli army, many couldnt even grab anything for themselves. Since yesterday, they havent seen any Aid Group or even the government come and help provide them anything, just some groups. Its very difficult to use the word of lucky, but they had a chance to find food from some organisations, but many of them are out of reach for this help. They dont have a car, they had to walk. They had to walk out. You can imagine that if this situation continues, how angry these people will be. They are already exhausted and angry. Those drones are still sounding loudly in the skies above Beirut Tonight and have been all day. The us military says it is increasing its Support'>Air Support capabilities in the Middle East, and putting their troops on a heightened readiness to deploy to the region. A spokesman for the pentagon said that america is determined to prevent iran and iranian backed partners and proxies from exploiting the situation, or expanding the conflict. 0ur Washington Correspondent jenny kumah, told us more about the latest reaction from the biden administration. Well, yesterday we heard president biden say that the killing of the hezbollah leader was a Measure Ofjustice for his many victims and described, he said, that many americans had died during what he described as a four Decade Reign of terror. This morning, the White House national security adviser, John Kirby, has been speaking on cnn, and he pretty much echoed that sentiment, saying that the death was a good for the region and good for the world. When asked about Civilian Casualties, he said, we have made no bones about the fact that we dont necessarily see the tactical execution the same way that israel does in terms of protections of civilians. So, what we heard from John Kirby was the same messages that weve heard since the beginning of the conflict this ironclad Support for israel, of the conflict this ironclad Support for israel, an appeal for israel to avoid Civilian Casualties, and an emphasis on the need for a diplomatic solution. And the main aim of the us has been to avoid regional escalation to secure a Hostage And Ceasefire deal. So far, that has failed and the us is now in crisis mode. Jenny and washington. It remains a real contrast between when you hear the words about Cease Fire talks, all those things, and the sound of the drones in the sky above the Air Strikes that have continued, the two feel absolutely worlds apart at the Moment. The two feel absolutely worlds apart at the Moment. Yeah, and ou apart at the Moment. Yeah, and you mentioned apart at the Moment. Yeah, and you mentioned the apart at the Moment. Yeah, and you mentioned the air apart at the Moment. Yeah, and you mentioned the Air Strikes i you mentioned the Air Strikes and Israel Notjust battling in gaza, lebanon and at times dealing with violence. We now see these Air Strikes taking place against targets in yemen. , , yemen. This is interesting because yemen. This is interesting because as yemen. This is interesting because as we yemen. This is interesting because as we were yemen. This is interesting because as we were reflecting with jon because as we were reflecting withjon donnison, this is Something Israel has thought about and plan very carefully. They feel they are very much on the front foot. They see the killing of hassan Ness Rella is very planned. Nasrallah. Israel is feeling very, very empowered by this Military Campaign so far. Of course it fears retribution from those iranian backed proxies. They have fired missiles towards israel. But the Houthis In Yemen have eyes on iranian backed militias. Hezbollah themselves. This is always a complex and multi layered situation and i think were releasing that now. {line were releasing that now. One of israels were releasing that now. One of israels names were releasing that now. One of israels names has were releasing that now. One of israels names has been to return. And were now hearing the idea of saying 35 rockets were Launched from lebanon at Northern Israel in the last hour or so. Northern israel in the last hour orso. Itjust Northern Israel in the last hour or so. Itjust shows you the fact that rockets are still being Launched. The fact that rockets are still being Launched. And actually, the reason being Launched. And actually, the reason there being Launched. And actually, the reason there are being Launched. And actually, the reason there are few being Launched. And actually, l the reason there are few deaths of injuries from those attacks is because so many people were evacuated in the days after the 7th Of October. I was there just a few days later. I watched people who were terrified and finding ways to leave. That strip of land has been largely empty for nearly a year now. That is why israel says it wants to return those people back home. Many people have been living in hotels. They want to get those people back. Conversely now, because of military action, you see a similarly level of displacement. What we had after the 7th Of October began, but we have this regular rhythm of Cross Border Fire that would go on. Sort of calculated, and i think the concern was always that if one side miscalculated and there was an event where a large number of civilians were killed, that would be the thing that led to the escalation were seeing. In fact, it looks like its slightly different, Something Israel did calculate and plan. As always in situations like this and ive been talking to people in Marta Square behind me with people displace one father had no milk for his six month old. They described what they could and left. I think israel and lebanon, it is the civilians, it is the children who always seem to suffer in situations like this one. At the Moment, there is really no sign of that de escalation happening. People here are wondering how much worse they can get for them. Anna, thank you very much. Anna foster and a loop. In beirut. Voting has just come to a close in austrias general election. The far right Freedom Party, led by herbert kickl, went into the vote ahead in several opinion polls, but without any guarantee that if it became the biggest single party it would be able to form a government. The first projections have just been made public, and they suggest it has taken 29 of the vote beating both the ruling conservatives and the Social Democrats. Bell is following events in vienna, and she gave me this update. In this is likely to be a complicated matter. On top of that, they have suggested that the Freedom Party is in first place with 29 , the conservative Peoples Party in second place with 26 and the social Social Democrats in third place with about 20 . Now, it should be said these are early projected results. There is still the possibility of a shift of about 2 or so. So we could see a much closer result later on. Or it could be seen that the Freedom Party has secured what would be, if it is confirmed to be in first place, its best result ever. What does this mean that the eu is going to have to do when it comes to looking at migration, and how many people across europe feel about it . Well, certainly the question of migration has dominated this election campaign. Mr kikel, the head of the Freedom Party, campaigned for what he called a fortress austria, really slashing migration. And that is actually the the conservative Peoples Party has also said it had also wanted to reduce migration here. It is a very, very hot topic. Although the numbers of migrants arriving in austria has dropped quite considerably over the last year or so. The Freedom Party is a party which has close links with Viktor 0rban in hungary. It has campaigned very strongly on austrias neutral perspective. It has talked about being anti eu sanctions on russia when it comes to the war in ukraine. So, certainly this is a party which will certainly embolden parties like mr 0rbans in hungary and otherfar right movements across europe. Bethany bell in vienna. The Artistry And Chancellor and conservative leader has conceded that his party has failed to catch up with the far right Freedom Party. We will wait and see if we can get some more detail on how the resorts have panned out. The results. The Uk Government is to close a Loophole And Force ministers and Shadow Ministers, to declare all hospitality. It comes in the wake of the row over gifts given to Sir Keir Starmer. Last night, the labour mp, Rosie Duffield, quit The Party, saying the Prime Minister and his team cared more about Greed And Power than making a difference. Heres damian grammaticas. This election is something else entirely. What an historic night this is. Less than three months ago, Rosie Duffield wowed by labours landslide. Now The Party is scrambling to limit the damage. In her resignation letter, she said of Sir Keir Starmer s acceptance of gifts the sleaze, nepotism and apparent avarice are off the scale, adding im so ashamed of what you and your inner circle have done to tarnish and humiliate our our once proud party. Today, she went further. Do you think he has a problem with women . Im afraid i do, yes. I mean, ive experienced it myself, experienced it myself. Most backbenchers that im friends with are women, and most of us refer to the men that surround him, the young men as the lads, you know, and its very clear that the lads are in charge. I swear by Almighty God that. This was her third Election Victory since first taking canterbury from the tories in 2017. But her relationship with her party has from almost the start, been strained. Rosie duffield, a campaigner for womens issues and against anti semitism, led to clashes with labour leaders, both Sir Keir Starmer and Jeremy Corbyn trying to draw a line under all of this. One of sir keir s closest allies in the Cabinet Today said labour will bring in new rules requiring more transparency from ministers about donations they receive. Ministers have not had to declare in the past Hospitality Hospitality Theyve received, while backbench mps and Shadow Ministers have. We will close that loophole going forward. Well make it clear in the Ministerial Code that both ministers and Shadow Ministers should be under the same declaration rules going forward. Keir starmer, who rode to power on a wave of disaffection with the conservatives promising change, rewriting the rules may not undo the political damage done in recent days. He finds himself mired in his own battles. Damian grammaticas, Bbc News. An eight year old boy has died after being shot at a farm in warcop, in North West england. The child suffered injuries to his head and face. Cumbria police say theyve arrested a man in his 60s. 0ur CorrespondentFiona Trott gave us the latest from cumbria. This is what the police have seen. They said they were called to a farm yesterday afternoon. When they arrived, they found a boy he serious head injuries, they also found a gun. The eight year old was airlifted to hospital and a man in 60s was arrested on suspicion of call causing gbh. Tragically, the boy died overnight and the man in custody is being questioned on gross negligence manslaughter. That tells more about nature of the investigation so far. Were waiting for the police to confirm the identity of the boy and were waiting to find out what the relationship might be between him and the man who is in custody. But while the investigation continues into the exact circumstances, what we have at the heart of this is a family who now are mourning the loss of an eight year old boy. Fiona trots reporting from cumbria. The four candidates left in the race to become leader of the conservatives, are making their cases at the Party Conference in birmingham. Kemi badenoch, robertjenrick, James Cleverly and tom tugendhat, are trying to win Support before Mps Whittle down the list. Heresjoe pike. The old leader is still hanging around as the final fall to be the new one. To be the new one battle it out. To be the new one battle it out. A central debate in this contest is immigration and integration. After Kemi Badenoch wrote, not all cultures are equally valid. Which cultures in your view, are less valid than others . 0h, lots. Cultures that believe in child marriage, for instance, or that women dont have equal rights. I actually think its extraordinary that people think thats an unusual or controversial thing to say. Of course, not all cultures are equally valid. Robertjenrick argues its policy, not just principles that matter. Look, i think Culture Matters for integration. Thats an important question. But where kemi and i do disagree is on the fact that numbers also matter. That is ultimately whats putting the pressure on housing, On Public Services and community cohesion. So, you have to have that cap. The Leadership Candidates are doling out so many freebies, one joked it was only a matter of time before Keir Starmer arrived and just a few hours into this conference, one of them is clearly making more headlines than the rest. Its notjust Kemi Badenoch s comments on integration that have been causing a stir. Shes also said today that Maternity Pay has gone too far. Whether you think that is controversial or common sense, so far, she certainly seems to be the candidate whos shaping the debate. You need to talk to kemi about what kemi said. I what i have said when it comes to working mothers is the costl of childcare is too expensive. It was Government Meddling that made it expensive and rather tax and subsidise, j lets make childcare cheaper. I think Maternity And Paternity care are very important. One of the things i missed out on years ago is we didnt have the same rights on paternity care, and i think many of us fathers would have loved to spend more time with our kids. Kemi badenoch has since clarified that of course she believes in Maternity Pay. Itll soon be up to mps and Party Members to decide whos the best leader to take the fight to labour. Joe pike, Bbc News, birmingham. There is much more in Depth Coverage of the conservative Party Leadership Contest on the Bbc News website. Stay with us here on Bbc News. Hello. Although most of us have stayed dry this weekend, low pressure is sweeping in as we speak. That will hang around for the first few days of this upcoming week. Monday and tuesday certainly looking wetter and windier rather cool, monday and tuesday certainly looking wetter and windier rather cool, but mid week, High Pressure will build in and that will settle things down and we will see increasing amounts of sunshine, but the nights will be cool with Mist And Fog returning. Up until tuesday, england and where is will have heavy and persistent rain, falling on saturated ground and so the risk of further localised flooding in places. Worth staying tuned to the forecast over the next few days. This area of low pressure is the culprit, which will become slow moving as it pushes across england and wales during the course of the night, and The Rain will be heavy and persistent accompanied by strong, gusty winds, up to 60mph around some Channel Coasts and in towards South Wales. But a drier night across northern areas, but turning windy. Single figures for northern and western scotland, and double fingers further south, dragging on milder air. To a halt across the uk as it bumps against that area of High Pressure. A wet and windy start for large parts of england and wales with rain becoming more confined to parts of East Anglia, northern and Eastern England, North Midlands and north wales. Anywhere in this zone could see localised flooding, so stay tuned to the forecast. To the north, rather dry and cloudy and on the cold side, but further south, it will brighten up with South Wales and Southern England turning a bit warmer up to 17 or 18 celsius with one or two showers. The rain continues across central, northern and eastern parts of england as we head through monday night. Still raining across eastern England And East anglia by the time we reach tuesday morning. Temperatures again mild in the south, but cooler further north. The area of low pressure takes its time to pull away eastwards, away eastwards, so itll still affect Eastern England on tuesday with strong winds and outbreaks of rain, physically towards East Anglia and the far south east. High pressure is building and further north and west, and the wind will be like to hear. Increasing sunshine, so it will feel warm at 16 or 17 celsius in the warmest spot. Still feeling quite warm further east with strong winds and rain. High pressure builds in to end the new week. Good spells of sunshine and Mist And Fog overnight. This is Bbc News, the headlines. When you think about obviously what weve done so far this season and the four points weve taken, we didnt take any of those last season, nothing off of arsenal and we lost this Game Home here, so we are already four points up here which is pleasing. Ithink, you know, there is increasing pressure on iran to retaliate. However, we have heard from iranian officials until now that they are not going to fall into israels trap, that what israel is trying to do with the assassination of Mr Nasrallah is to try to drag iran into a fight, into a regional war, which means a fight between iran and the united states, which the iranian regime knows well. They dont have the capacities, Military Capacities to win. And so there might be a response, but i think it might be a response from the proxies. Thats going to be their Default Response to have the houthis, a coordinated response maybe from the houthis, the pro iran iraqi militia, and definitely from hezbollah against israel. Is that so that tehran doesnt get directly caught up in what would become a much wider war . Yes, exactly. And thats the basic, you know, fear is that from the beginning, since last october, iran has shared the same interest as the united states in wanting to avoid a regional war because they dont see that war will be to their benefit if they get dragged into it. But there is increasing pressure now inside iran leader, to react, you know, and many people now, there are also voices inside iran, especially within the iranian revolutionary guards, who are arguing that the fact that iran did not retaliate against the killing of ismail haniyeh, the Hamas Leader in tehran by israel is partly one of the reasons why israel felt emboldened enough to go after nasrallah. And how much more emboldened Will Israel be if there is a further delay in any retaliation . Look, i think with this escalation, which is the targeted assassination of Mr Nasrallah. I think israel now has embarked on an escalatory trajectory, guided by this belief on the part of the israeli leadership, that they are now facing a unique opportunity to decapitate, to at least eliminate hezbollah as being able i the near term or medium term, to represent any kind of threat, serious threat to israel. And by decapitating hezbollah, which is the anchor of Irans Axis of resistance in the region. They are also dealing a heavy blow to irans regional strategy and, and weakening, you know, its footprint and its ability to represent any kind of threat to israel. I spoke to Parham Ghobadi from bbc persian, who told us more about the reaction from inside of tehran. So today, iranian speaker of the parliament and also iranian Foreign Minister reacted to the killing of Hassan Nasrallah, hezbollahs leader. And theyve both said that the Resistance Movement, which means iranian proxies, will react to this. This, their statement, Echoes Iranian supreme Leader Ayatollah Khameneis statement issued written statement that was issued yesterday evening. He said the same thing. There were two key elements missing in his statement. One was that they typically used a harsher tone of language using the words like Harsh Revenge, iran is going to take Harsh Revenge or a heavy slap on the face of, for example, israelis or americans in the latest, uh, statement that was missing, they said that his blood would not go unavenged. That was one thing. The other thing was that they said that the Resistance Movement is going to, uh, do that, not the iranians. So they usually said that iran is going to take revenge, but that was also missing in their statement. It shows that iranians are probably calculating theyre using a much softer tone and a much more restrained language this time around, compared to the previous assassinations and attacks. Who are those proxies . So iranian proxies are from the Red Sea all the way to lebanon houthis, kataib hezbollah, the militias in iraq and the most important ally and the biggest, probably the biggest militia in the world, that is hezbollah is in lebanon. So all these proxies can react. But the problem is that the most powerful one was hezbollah. And most of the high figures in the hezbollah have been killed in the past few days. Yeah. And theyve been able to the israelis have been. Or they havent admitted that its them who have carried out these assassinations, necessarily, but theyve been able to target people quite precisely. Yes, of course, there have been Civilian Casualties as well. But whos winning, then . The intelligence war. That this must tell us something. Thats an important question. Because what is happening right now . Its an intelligence war. And israelis have proven yet again that they have the Superior Hand in this intelligence war. Because lets not forget, injuly, ismail haniyeh, Hamas Leader, was assassinated in tehran. They probably knew the exact location where he was staying because the building that was targeted, the exact location he was staying in, that building was targeted. The same pattern happened in lebanon. Many of the lebanese, many of the hezbollah commanders were targeted while they were driving in their cars, while they were staying at a building, and that exact location was targeted in the building. So an iranian, this is not what israelis are saying. This is what iranians are saying, that the israelis have managed to infiltrate iranian intelligence systems so much that the former iranian Intelligence Minister has said that iranian officials should be scared for their lives every day. And this is a statement by a former iranian Intelligence Minister. The 62 year old will appear on channel Fives Reality Series castaway. Which sees him stranded on an island off madagascar are for ten days. Its my chance to tell my side of my story. Phillip schofield, back on our Television Screens for the first time in 16 months. The presenter announced his comeback earlier this week and now, some clips from the Channel 5 programme, called cast away, have been released ahead of the show being broadcast tomorrow night. They show him alone on an island, forced to find his own food, water and shelter. Phillip schofield, who is 62, stepped down from itv s this morning in May 2023 after having an affair with a much younger male colleague. He called the affair unwise but not illegal. Critics say it raised questions over a potential abuse of power. In this new tv series, schofield chooses to discuss his sexuality in detail. I know that coming out for so many people is liberating and its freedom on a plate, absolutely be yourself, live your life to the absolute full. Its the saying just live your best life. But for me, doing it later in life, at the Moment, itsjust given me more anguish thanjoy. He also suggests this could be his last appearance on our screens. Ill be slammed for this phillip schofield, mad rant but the thing is i dont care any more. I dont care this is me having my say as i bow out. The presenter may hope the show will rehabilitate him in the eyes of the british public but since announcing his participation, schofield has faced further criticism with some commentators saying this programme, which he filmed alone and in advance, allows him to avoid further scrutiny. Noor nanji, Bbc News. The question of Whether Alien Life exists is one that has been debated for centuries, and for many still is a subject of fascination. In september 1967, families on a Housing Estate in Stoke On Trent described seeing a ufo near their homes. More than 50 years on, the events are being retold in a new play. 0ur reporter, liz copper, has the details. Have you seen one . A sceptic . A ufo . No. The cast of Bright Lights over bentilee. The play dramatises the sighting of a flying Saucer Landing in the potteries. In 1967 there really was a sighting of a bright light and of something that was ufo shaped and was unidentified. And this story goes back to that and tells the story all of what happened to the people that saw it and what they might have seen. The idea that something might be out there in general, and that this is like a genuine kind of world where people on a Mass Scale saw something in our area. And i think thats kind of like really wild and magical. In the late 60s, news reports covered the unexplained events on the bentilee estate. It seemed like a saucer, you know, and then it changed in different colours. It changed like a red, i and then it would come into a like of a greenish colour and then a blue. | but there was no heat. It was just a red glow, like a sunset. Those accounts inspired writer deb mcandrew. It was seen from all over the place, hanley and fenton. As part of her research on bentilee she also uncovered this report detailing 70 other ufo sightings. People who saw this were the ancestors of the people who live here now. Just ordinary people, you know, not fanciful people. They were just working people. And they saw something extraordinary one night in september 1967. So itjust felt really magical. Did it happen . Yeah, it happened, and then that was it. But they saw something, yeah. And i believed them when they tell me they did. Flying things. Objects that cannot be immediately identified. You mean. . Unidentified flying objects. Right the mysterious events in the skies over the city make a captivating story, now being told on the stage. For audiences, a chance to reflect on a night that was sprinkled with stardust. Lets return to birmingham now, where the Conservative Party is holding its conference. In that speech, i was listening to it in the hall, it was very well attended, lots of oohs and oz. Nevertheless he defended the conservative record in government, and also warned his party to stop the Picketing And Squabbling and not to turn it on themselves, pretty strong advice to his Leadership Candidates. He alsojoked advice to his Leadership Candidates. He also joked at Keir Starmer s expense, he said socialists want to spend other Peoples Money so so lord allie is finding out the hard way. Interestingly though, as suggested, martin, the focus is moving out and therefore all the Leadership Candidates have their Supporters out and about, clearing the ground for their speeches later this week and my colleague spoke to one of them earlier, Tom Scully Paul scully speaking on behalf of of James Cleverley. I come out to Support-james'>Support James today, i come out to Support-james'>Support James today, he i come out to Support-james'>Support James today, he someone i have known for a today, he someone i have known for a long today, he someone i have known for a long time, i have looked at fora long time, i have looked at all for a long time, i have looked at all the for a long time, i have looked at all the candidates before them at all the candidates before them as at all the candidates before them as well and i thinkjames is the them as well and i thinkjames is the one them as well and i thinkjames is the one that encapsulates everything im looking for, someone that is a good communicator, someone who can bring communicator, someone who can bring the communicator, someone who can bring The Party back together again. Bring The Party back together again, everything thats happening with the Labour Party at the happening with the Labour Party at the Moment, with the Making Mistake at the Moment, with the Making Mistake after mistake, weve ot mistake after mistake, weve got to mistake after mistake, weve got to realise that doesnt mean got to realise that doesnt mean people automatically jumped back to us, james can help jumped back to us, james can help the jumped back to us, james can help the process and can also speak help the process and can also speak to help the process and can also speak to floating voters, people speak to floating voters, people outside The Party which is absolutely crucial if we are going is absolutely crucial if we are going to is absolutely crucial if we are going to win the next election. There going to win the next election. There will going to win the next election. There will be some people who say you didnt have a great time in the 2024 general election, James Cleverley has been foreign secretary, hes been foreign secretary, hes been Home Secretary, he is a various familiarface on been Home Secretary, he is a various familiar face on the front bench. Why is he the person to lead the change that the Conservative Party seems to need at the Moment . The Conservative Party seems to need at the Moment . What james has tried to need at the Moment . What james has tried to do need at the Moment . What james has tried to do all need at the Moment . What james has tried to do all the need at the Moment . What james has tried to do all the way has tried to do all the way through has tried to do all the way through especially at senior levels through especially at senior levels is through especially at senior levels is to get stuff done. Thats levels is to get stuff done. Thats clearly not always been possible thats clearly not always been possible especially when the home possible especially when the Home Secretary with the stopping the books, that was always stopping the books, that was always a stopping the books, that was always a tough ask for anybody to come always a tough ask for anybody to come in always a tough ask for anybody to come in and do, but he set the train to come in and do, but he set the train and going to actually start the train and going to actually start smashing against that, start start smashing against that, start those numbers coming down, start those numbers coming down, he start those numbers coming down, he brought in the legislation to actually change the situation and we started seeing the situation and we started seeing some of that happening now seeing some of that happening now. Well see what happens with now. Well see what happens with the now. Well see what happens with the Labour Party. But this is a guy with the Labour Party. But this is a guy that talks about change. Is a guy that talks about change, he can deliver change, he is change, he can deliver change, he is senior change, he can deliver change, he is senior at every level just he is senior at every level just his he is senior at every level just his daily business, London Assembly just his daily business, London Assembly member, as a backbencher, and as a competent member, backbencher, and as a competent member, he seen every level so he can member, he seen every level so he can step member, he seen every level so he can step up to the job of prime he can step up to the job of Prime Minister which is big. I think Prime Minister which is big. I think thats the key thing. Of course that was Support for James Cleverly from Paul Scully become a big Supporter of Kevin Ebay do not, Rishi Sunak s Warning Call for unity that he delivered in this halljust about half an hour ago because Kemi Badenoch suggested for example that Maternity Pay in her words had gone too far, this was seized on by some of the other candidates, especially robertjenrick who said the Conservative Party should be on the side of working mums, and Maternity Pay was very low for advanced economies, flatly and bluntly disagreed with her that she then tried to clarify this on social media, she says shes in favour of Maternity Pay, she was talking about the effect it had on businesses and regulations on businesses but you can see thatjust one or two loose words here in birmingham will be picked up here by each of the contenders and although they say yes of course, we want unity, In The End they will give no quarter because it is hugely important to them, for them this week, but that number will be whittled down to two, the kind of issues that they think they will motivate them to lend their Support. Will motivate them to lend their Support. Ian, thank you very much. Their Support. Ian, thank you very much, iain their Support. Ian, thank you very much, Iain Watson their Support. Although most of us have stayed dry this weekend, low pressure is sweeping in as we speak. That will hang around for the first few days of this upcoming week. Monday and tuesday certainly looking wetter and windier rather cool, but mid week, High Pressure will build in and that will settle things down and we will see increasing amounts of sunshine, but the nights will be cool with Mist And Fog returning. Single figures for northern and western scotland, and double fingers further south, dragging in milderair. Into monday, this low Pressure System will grind to a halt across the uk as it bumps against that area of High Pressure. A wet and windy start for large parts of england and wales with rain becoming more confined to parts of East Anglia, northern and Eastern England, North Midlands and north wales. Anywhere in this zone could see localised flooding, so stay tuned to the forecast. To the north, rather dry and cloudy and on the cold side, but further south, it will brighten up with South Wales and Southern England turning a bit warmer up to 17 18 celsius with one or two showers. The rain continues across central, northern and eastern parts of england as we head through monday night. Still raining across eastern England And East anglia by the time we reach tuesday morning. Temperatures again mild in the south, but cooler further north. The area of low pressure takes its time to pull away eastwards, so itll still affect Eastern England on tuesday with strong winds and outbreaks of rain, physically towards East Anglia and the far south east. High pressure is building and further north and west, and the wind will be lighter here. Increasing sunshine, so it will feel warm at 16 17 celsius in the warmest spot. Still feeling quite warm further east with strong winds and rain. High pressure builds in to end the new week. Good spells of sunshine and Mist And Fog overnight. Live from london. This is Bbc News.
