Our Political Editor Chris Mason was on the prime Ministers Plane, and sent this report shortly after landing. The Prime Minister arriving here in washington with the foreign secretary, David Lammy Sir Keir Starmer s second visit to the White House in two months. Ukraines allies remain rather guarded in their public remarks about a change in policy on the use of Western Missiles inside russia. But the diplomatic dashing to arrive at a decision is in plain sight and that has proved enough for President Putin to say this. Translation if this decision is made, it will mean nothing other than direct participation of nato countries, the United States, I European countries. In the war in ukraine. It is their direct participation and this, of course, significantly changes the very essence of the conflict. On ourflight here, we had a chance to ask him in what we call a huddle where all of the reporters on the Trip Crowd around the Prime Minister and ask questions. It was really striking how defiant Keir Starmer was in his language about vladimir putin repeatedly saying that russia started this, moscow caused the conflict, and it could stop it. As for the prospect of those anglo frencH Missiles, Storm Shadow missiles being fired into russia, he was a little more cautious in his language. He said there are really important developments likely in the next few weeks and months, and therefore a number of tactical decisions ought to be taken. This is the reality of a war grinding on. Russian drone strikes in konotop in northeastern ukraine this week. Ukraines allies want to help counter this, and for kyiv to win. Western missiles may help but may provoke russia, too. A ban on Junk Food adverts being shown on tv before 9pm will come into force on october the 1st Next year. The government says the watershed will help tackle one of the biggest Health Problems facing the uk, but campaigners say they could go further. Jayne mccubbin reports. Childhood obesity is a nationwide problem. More than one in five children in england are overweight by the time they start primary school. This rises to more than one third by the time they leave. The healtH Minister, andrew gwynne, says this sets children up for a lifetime of Health Problems, while adding further pressure on an already squeezed nhs. So the government says it wants to tackle the Problem Head on, with a watershed Junk Food Ad Ban on tv, and a complete ban on online. Fillet Tower Burger smothered in spicy. The policy was originally proposed by the conservatives, but stalled twice during the cost of living crisis, to give the industry more time to prepare. Now, the Labour Government has committed to a Start Date of october the 1st Next year. But campaigners believe the ban could and should go further. Research shows that if you show children Junk Food advertising, they consume more calories. That leads to increased weight, which can put them at risk of things like type two diabetes, heart disease, high Blood Pressure at a later age. So we want to try and nip it in the bud. Thats going to have a great effect on their future productivity, on stopping people from going into the nhs needing treatment, and on the economy as a whole. But it really does need to go further this is just the first step in trying to create a healthy Food Environment for our children to grow up in. Billboard bans on London Underground have already been in place for the last six years, while york is one of many councils which has recently voted to ban ads in public spaces, witH Many more local authorities considering the move. A team of researchers has found out what caused the earth to tremor slightly for nine days last september it was a massive landslide which caused a tsunami in a remote fjord in greenland. Our Science Correspondent Victoria Gill has the details. A land continuously carved and moulded by vast glaciers. But in one fjord in the east of greenland, a seismic event has transformed the landscape here forever. Were seeing here a simulation of how this seismic signal travelled around the world. When we run this, well start to see this wave. This animation shows the signal that baffled scientists for nine days in september of last year. The dots are seismic monitors around the world, picking up vibrations from something happening in greenland. At the same time that scientists were puzzling over that, a Team Working in greenland received a report of a large tsunami in the east of the country. These photographs show what caused it a huge landslide into this fjord. Look at the Mountain Top in this image. Taken before the event. And look at it afterwards the top of The Mountain is gone, collapsed into the fjord, taking part of the glacier with it. The scientists analysed the Depth And Shape of this narrow 200 kilometre long fjord, and that revealed why the tsunami the landslide caused reverberated around the world for so long. The wave was essentially trapped. The energy of that wave just cant escape, so that wave has to just keep bouncing back and forth, sloshing back and forth in the fjord. Itjust cant go anywhere. Never before has such a long duration large Scale Movement of water over nine days, in this case been observed. Remote as it is, this is a location that Cruise Ships do visit fortunately, no vessels were in the area when the landslide happened but scientists say the risk of these events is increasing with Climate Change. This glacier was holding up The Mountain. Over decades, it melted and thinned, and eventually millions of cubic metres of rock simply collapsed. Its a destructive Side Effect of Climate Change that was felt around the world. Victoria gill, Bbc News. The point that he would come back to, charlie, its the same as in shop, you try on a load of things in the shop and decide what you are going to buy. The ease of shopping from your sofa, with a mobile or laptop, has led to a huge growth in online sales. In fact more than a quarter of all our retail purchases, everything from clothes to food shopping, happen online now. Thats up from a tenth of spending a decade ago. And as we buy more, we return more as well. Last year shoppers sent back an estimated £13 billion worth of products. Especially with fashion where shoppers are increasingly buying multiple items before returning what they dont want. May be trying them on the size or Working Out which one they want. Now some retailers are introducing charges for those customers who they say do this a lot. Asos, the online Clothing Giant, says customers will have £3. 95 deducted from their refund if they keep less than £40 worth of items. Asos say this change means they can continue to offer Free returns to the vast majority of other customers. Asos arent the only ones. Another online Fashion Store Boohoo charges a Flat Rate of £1. 99 for returns. While H M charges the same for customers who arent a member of its loyalty programme. Retail Analyst Catherine Shuttleworth understands why retailers are introducing charges. One of the reasons that we see very high returns in fashion is that weve got the whole instagram generation, where people are making short films, showing where theyre buying hauls of clothes, theyre using those to drive their social fame, but then theyre sending all the products back and actually never wearing them again. And that level of abuse of the good nature of retailers is something that retailers are saying, look, we cant continue to supply people with products that theyre never going to buy. Industry research suggests around a third of the uks biggest retailers are now charging for online returns so it seems this is here to stay. Asos says the charges will only affect a small group of customers with a frequently high Return Rate. Talking about those people who are perhaps just taking Pictures for social and not actually wanting the clothes at all. The vast majority of customers will still get Free returns. We d like to hear your views on this. Are you a regular return . The pile of clothes next to the frontier suggest my husband is potentially one of them. Next to the front door. Bradford has officially announced its programme of events for next year, as it celebrates being the Uk City of Culture And Itll include a Drawing Project supported by the Artist David Hockney, and the city will host the turner prize. The city of Culture Prize was introduced after liverpools successful year as the European Capital of culture, back in 2008. It was decided that a new Uk City of culture would be announced every four years and so far there have been three. Derry londonderry took the title in 2013. Hull had the honour in 2017. And most recently, in 2021, coventry wore the crown. Now its bradfords turn and its giving civic pride a boost. Olivia wright is from bradford, and shes been delving into its rich history. Hi, im olivia wright, one of the new voices of bradford for the city of culture 2025. And im going to be sharing some of the rich history of this amazing city. One of the first things youll notice in the City Centre is the vast amount of roadworks. But if you look a little bit closer, youll see evidence of bradfords amazing success and beautiful architecture. Ive come to meet a local historian to hear more about the origins of our city. Where did bradford get its name from . Well, originally it was called broad ford, and thats because there are lots and lots of becks and brooks that come through bradford. Irene often tells one of her favourite stories about bradford to schoolchildren. Its the legend of the last ravaging boar. A tale aboutjonathan northrop, who killed a ferocious beast and cut out its tongue to claim his reward. If you come round bradford City Centre, there are lots and lots of boar s heads, but youve got to look up. And thats the thing with bradford, with its architecture, etc, is whats above your head when youre walking around and whats below your feet. Not only do the stories date back centuries, but so do the buildings. One of my favourite gems in the city is bowling hall, which can date back all the Way to medieval times. Now rumour has it theres at least 20 ghosts living in the building. But luckily for me, none of them can have a chat today. To find out more about how much bradford has changed thanks to the textile trade, ive come to the industrial museum. So, lizzie, there are so many machines in this room. Do you have a favourite . Well, i particularly love this machine here. This is the lister nip comb. And its really important in the development of Worsted Cloth, which is what bradford was famous for producing. Where manchester was known as cottonopolis, bradford became known as worstedopolis because it was really known for producing this really high quality Worsted Cloth that was used for suiting and upholstery. In here weve got some of our amazing looms. And whats really important about these looms is their manufacturer, hattersley s. Hattersley s are a keighley based company within the bradford district, and they were producing some of the best quality, best engineered looms that are still used around the world today. What kind of impact would this have had on the people that lived in bradford at the time . It had a massive impact. So bradford went from a small Wool Production Village to a huge, bustling industrial city within 70 years. So you saw a Population Boom from around 30,000 to 150, 160,000 people. Bradford had a huge impact on social reform and working reform. So a lot of changes to education, health care, Child Labour laws and working Hours Reform come out of bradford and cities like bradford. After taking this trip down Memory Lane in our city, i have never been more inspired to pick up a history book. Bradford was once one of the most iconic cities in europe, and its now up to us to restore its former greatness. You know when you go to a city or a new place and you think, i like it but i dont really know it, olivia is someone you want to go around with. The first so called Citizens Jury on assisted dying in england has backed a change in the law to allow people to end their life. The jury of 30 spent eight weeks listening to Expert Evidence and campaigners and concluded it should only be an option for those who are terminally ill and have the capacity to make their own decisions. Our medical editor Fergus Walsh has the details. AWay from the placards and the protests, the citizensjury was intended to produce a measured response to this highly sensitive issue. Jury members were selected to be representative of the makeup and the views of the population, whicH Meant most were already in favour of assisted dying at the start. By three to one, the jury voted in favour of the law being changed to allow assisted dying for those with a terminal condition who have the capacity to make their own decisions. The lethal drug could be self administered or given by a health professional. Ashok was part of the jury and says they were given time to explore the issue in depth. It was an amazing experience and it was nerve racking. It was sensitive. It was like a mixed emotion to be part of this actually, because it is a very sensitive topic to be deliberated. Ourjury members wanted terminally ill people not to suffer and prolong the agony, and to have the option to choose to die in their own country rather than going abroad to die. A minority ofjurors were concerned that assisted dying could be misused without adequate safeguards. There was near universal support for more funding for palliative care. We know that policymakers want to have more evidence about what the public think. They want to understand the richness, the detail of peoples views and understand where, for example, people want to see safeguards and other considerations around, for example, palliative care. Opinion polls have consistently shown overwhelming public support for assisted dying in the uk. The Prime Minister, sir Keir Starmer, has said hes committed to giving mps a Free vote on the issue at some point. Private members bills have already been introduced at westminster and at the scottish parliament, holyrood. The Isle Of Man and jersey, which pass their own laws, are already on track to introduce assisted dying. But throughout the british isles the impassioned debate on this key issue will continue. Research shows that if you show children Junk Food advertising, they consume more calories. Thats going to have a great effect on their future productivity, on stopping people from going into the nhs needing treatment, and on the economy as a whole. Billboard bans on London Underground have already been in place for the last six years, while york is one of many councils which has recently voted to ban ads in public spaces, witH Many more local authorities considering the move. There are calls for greater powers to be handed to local authorities so they can stop the Junk Food industry from simply switching their advertising spend to other platforms. Eriksson died aged 76 last month, after revealing earlier this year that hed been diagnosed with cancer. David beckham, who served as Captain Under Eriksson, is expected to be among the mourners. Firefighters in california are still battling three major wildfires which have been raging near Los Angeles for the past six days, burning more than 100,000 acres of land. A State Of Emergency was declared earlier in the week, while thousands of homes have been evacuated. A team of researchers has found out what caused the earth to tremor slightly for nine days last september it was a massive landslide which caused a tsunami in a remote fjord in greenland. Our Science Correspondent Victoria Gill has the details. A [and continuously carved and moulded by vast glaciers. This earth is an amazing place. Iglesia holding up a mountain. Stunning, isnt it . Residents of a village in South Wales say theyve been inundated by a mysterious swarm of flies. People living in bettws Near Bridgend say they cant open their windows or eat lunch in peace because of the insects. Our Wales Correspondent Hywel Griffith has been to find out more. The common housefly. All too common, it seems, in the homes of bettws, South Wales, where residents say theyve been inundated by thousands of the insects in recent weeks. At the local pub, regulars come armed with swats and sprays to keep the flies at bay, but it feels like a losing battle. Here, you can have that. Im not having it. You can start swatting for me. There are tales of children having to eat under mosquito nets. One family said they counted 205 flies in just 45 minutes. Captured on camera, home made traps have helped but what residents really want is for the problem to end. This year has been exceptional, and i wouldnt call It Activity i would actually call it a fly infestation. And, as you would see, Social Media is awash with horrible images of the volume of flies currently being found in peoples homes. EnvironmentaL Health officers have been investigating. So far, theyve not determined the source of the swarm, but here they cant wait for their village to become a no fly zone. Hywel griffith, Bbc News, bettws. That is not nice, is it . Thank you very much a scheme to compensate victims of a defunct religious cult known as Thejesus Army Has identified 539 alleged perpetrators of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and said that around one in four children suffered harm. Thejesus Fellowship Church had a network of Community Houses in london and the midlands. A trust, which is managing the groups closure, apologised for its Severely Detrimental Impact on peoples lives. Heres more from our investigations reporter, jon ironmonger. J e sus what does that spell . Jesus to the casual observer, Thejesus Army may have seemed a harmless, albeit peculiar, religious sect. In reality, it was one of the uks most abusive cults, home to thousands of members who gave up everything to live and toil in its strict communities. Oh, god, i have so many, many sins. The leader, noel stanton, whos been widely accused as a paedophile, died in 2009 before he could be prosecuted. But around a dozen of his followers have been convicted of sex offences, including these two men, for indecent assaults on boys. Now, five years after the group disbanded in disgrace, a Compensation Scheme has identified hundreds of other potential abusers. I was stalked by a paedophile who was laterjailed throughout all of my teens in the church. I remember when i left noticing that i didnt have a knot in my stomach any more. Philippa, who started the survivors group, is among 600 former members to receive a few thousand pounds in damages for harm suffered Injesus Army communities. Its been a lot of heartache for people who havent got the justice they really deserved. Theyve been dismissed and minimised again. And i would never have set this up if id have known how we were going to be treated as victims. Jesus Thejesus Fellowship community trust, which is winding up the affairs of the group, said the now completed Redress Scheme had identified 539 alleged perpetrators of abuse and accepted responsibility for around half that number. Most of them were church leaders. Their details have been passed to northamptonshire police, who have already carried out two investigations into Thejesus Army, and said no further offences have been identified yet. However, any number could present a safeguarding risk, particularly if theyve taken up positions in other churches. Whilst its important that Safeguarding Checks are being carried out, thats not foolproof either because it doesnt necessarily mean that they Cant Move into some other organisation where they could still perpetrate abuse. We dont have mandatory reporting in this country and thats scary and sobering. The Redress Scheme found that around one in six children had been sexually abused by the jesus Fellowship Church. The trUst Apologised. It said a total of £7. 7 Million had been paid in damages. However, given the dozens of properties and lucrative businesses that have been liquidated as part of the groups closure, there is likely to be a lot of money left over. Jon ironmonger, Bbc News. The competition and Markets Authority has just given a provisional ruling on whether the two mobile network Providers Vodafone and three can merge to form the uks largest provider. Peters here with the latest. What has been the verdict . Well, Ust A what has been the verdict . Well, jUst A reminder what has been the verdict . Well, jUst A reminder because what has been the verdict . Well, jUst A reminder because i what has been the verdict . Well, jUst A reminder because i think i what has been the verdict . Ii jUst A reminder because i think it is important. This is a multi billion pound deal, or would be, and would create the uks largest mobile phone company. Vodafone and three, currently the third and fourth biggest provider, if they were to merge they would become number one with 27 Million customers. The two companies had said it was really important to do this because they are struggling to compete with the top two, and together they could compete better, be able to invest loads of money in the sg be able to invest loads of money in the 5g Network that the government says it once rolled out across the country by 2030. Vodafone and three have said if you want that to happen you need us to come together. In march the regulator said, well, we are concerned this could lead to less competition and obviously thats potentially means. The provisional verdict is that the merger could lead, the regulator says, to tens of millions of mobile customers having to pay more. They say as it stands they think the deal does have competition concerns. They say the merger could improve the quality of 5g Networks and lead to more investment, but they said these claims are overstated, essentially the companies may be overplaying their hand a bit on this. They say their hand a bit on this. They say the merged firm would not necessarily have the incentive to make this investment. They have also found, sometimes you are not with the top four, you might be with a smaller company, who dont have their own network, they use the networks that along to the four big ones. The regulator said there is also a chance that if you are customer of one of the smaller networks, those companies might well be harmed by this kind of deal. It doesnt mean The End. It means the companies will have to go aWay and make some commitments and the regulator said in particular they want commitments on a legally binding targets for that investment that the company say would come. This is just provisional, that the company say would come. This isjust provisional, we will have a few more months of arguing and wrangling and then we get a final decision by december. Interestingly, the two companies came out with a statement within seconds which generally means they thought this was coming, but we will wait and see if they can do enough to satisfy the regulator. To satisfy the regulator. Thank you very much were going to tell you now about a Little Boy Zachary Who has already undergone 30 surgeries before the age of three. Zachary desperately needs a Bowel And Liver transplant and his Mum And Dad are appealing for parents of young children to have difficult conversations about Organ Donation before its too late. Our Scotland Correspondent Catriona renton went to meet the family at their home near glasgow. Zachary, z a C H a r y. Bradford. Sorry, i got it wrong, i guess zachary was born at 28 weeks after his Bowel Perforated in his mum jades womb. He now urgently needs a small Bowel And Liver transplant. His Mum And Dad have been telling his story. Were kind of looking at weeks to months, but more so weeks. And if zachary takes another septiC Hit or catches another infection, then we will be looking at possibly losing him if it comes to that. But youre very strong and youre going to keep fighting, arent you . Zachary had Bowel Surgery when he was born. At the time, doctors said he was the youngest ever to survive this. He had a Liver Transplant last year, but it failed. Hes been diagnosed with liver and intestinalfailure. But hes so small that a new donor would have to be a young child, too. Sadly, now, all thats going to save him is that Liver And Bowel transplant, which isjust, unfortunately, going to need to come from someone, you know, similar to zachary s size. This has to happen, and it has to happen soon. Yeah, there are countless kids in zachary s situation, and it can be anyones kid that ends up needing a transplant like this as well. And we would hope that, um, anyone who would be happy for their kid to receive a transplant would also, um, be willing to do that for another child. And as i say, we dont. We dont. Were not underplaying how big an ask that is. We fully appreciate that. Zachary is one of 259 children in the uk waiting for a transplant. For many like him, their only hope is the parents of another child agreeing to Organ Donation at the most difficult of times. So nobody wants to envisage your child dying. But, its important that you do consider about Organ Donation and not really think about it as as death, but thinking about it as giving life so that if tragedy was to happen to anyone in the family, even children, what you would want to do in those circumstances. Zachary and his little brother reuben, who is 20 months old, are the best of friends. The family has goals. His Mum And Dad are hoping to get married soon. It will be zachary S Birthday on the 4th of october. Going to be the big three, yeah . Big three. We alWays achieve these goals, dont we . We set a goal not too far in advance and we reach for it. Yep, yep. Were going to aim for your birthday and were going to aim for the wedding and christmas. Its all going to happen. Its going to happen because youre strong. Jade and reese had met many families waiting and hoping for transplants. Ive gotten to meet so many families. And weve been able to see the difference that its made to their lives and kids who have been similar to zachary, so close to potentially losing their life, receiving that call and never looking back. Youve got big plans, you do. We just need to get that call to come. Catriona renton, Bbc News. Of course we wish the family well and thank them for talking to us. Lets Take A Look at the tubes now. The District Line is severely delayed. Now onto the weather with kawser. Hello there, good morning. Well, it certainly was a chilly night Last Night but today, plenty of fine and dry weather with High Pressure in charge, lots of sunshine especially this morning. During the day, we will start to see a bit of fairWeather Cloud bubbling up, but still fine and dry into the afternoon as well. Temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday, highs this afternoon of 15 to 17 celsius with lighter winds. A fine evening to come as well, late spells of sunshine, Clear Skies overnight. And tonight will be fairly cool, temperatures overnight dipping down to around five to seven or eight celsius. And it means for the weekend, it starts off fine and dry, so for tomorrow, lots of sunshine in store with High Pressure still with us. A bit of fairWeather Cloud again, a bit breezy, and then we are keeping an eye on this cold front. This potentially could bring some outbreaks of rain on sunday. After a bright start there will be a bit more in the Way of cloud around and then the chance of some patchy rain but the temperatures are going to start to rise, up to around the low 20s for next week. And that is your forecast. Thats it, you can keep up to date with all the Days News on our website or on the Bbc News app. Hello, this is breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. The idea of a ban onJunk Food adverts has been floated several times in the last few years. Now, the new government has finally set a date. From october next year, Junk Food ads will not be allowed on tv before 9pm and therell be a total ban on paid for online adverts. Were nowjoined by the Chef And Food writer hugh fearnley whittingstall, who has been calling for the Advert Ban for years, and Professor Matt ashton, director of publiC Health liverpool. Good morning to both of you. Can i start with you, hugh . You have been campaigning for this for a long time. What do you make of the announcement that effectively in a years time, there will be a form of band . , ,. ,. ,. , band . Can i say firstly, i am one of many voices. Band . Can i say firstly, i am one of many voices. It band . Can i say firstly, i am one of many voices, it would band . Can i say firstly, i am one of many voices, it would be many voices, it would be inappropriate not to mentionjamie olivers a campaign around this issue and more recently the young people of the fightback campaign, people of the fightback campaign, people like henry dimbleby, the food foundation. There is so much unanimous support for these kind of interventions and a Ban Onjunk unanimous support for these kind of interventions and a ban on Junk Food advertising to kids, before the watershed, has been on the cards for a long time. Its great to see that we have a government now who is not cowed by the industry, who recognises that there is a role for government in helping us to lead healthier lives, particularly our young people, and in protecting them from just one of the things that makes them vulnerable to the overconsumption ofJunk Food that leads to so many young people living with obesity and terrible health outcomes statistically for us nationally across the board as adults. Yes, i hugely welcome this, its long overdue, its great to see it. And itsjust the beginning of many levers that the government needs to pull, to have a serious impact on the issue of obesity. [10 impact on the issue of obesity. Do ou impact on the issue of obesity. Do you think, hugh, that to some extent, this is the easy bit . In a Way, this is one somewhere in government making a decision and making it the law. The harder bit is actually changing peoples, the culture of how they eat. Do you think this is the Headline Bit and we are talking about it which is a good thing, what about the next bit . The culture of how we eat is in part created by the incredible power of advertising. The reason the industry has fought against this measure for so long is because they know that their adverts on Junk Food are really effective, especially the ones that target kids food. And we do have a Food Culture which is shaped by the industry which is bombarding us with unhealthy food and has been for so long. They spent billions in order to create an image around theirfood that billions in order to create an image around their food that make people want them and ultimately make people unwell. It is a vital first step. But we do live in what has been described as an obesity environment. There areJunk Food described as an obesity environment. There are Junk Food adverts wherever we look, notjust online at the tv. Sadiq khan has taken bold measures on Transport For London to ban Junk Food advertising and at the same time, undertaking another measure which we know makes a difference for kids, which is Free school meals, healthy meals at lunch time for primary schoolchildren. If you combine this with good education around food so that we raise a generation where young people actually know and understand what good food is, and why it is so important, and slowly but surely we can change the culture. It is not going to do it on its own, but it does begin to address the issue of our Food Culture, does begin to address the issue of ourFood Culture, and there does begin to address the issue of our Food Culture, and there are does begin to address the issue of ourFood Culture, and there are many more steps to come. The fact that we have a government which is ready to address the problem, not be frightened of accusations of being a nanny state, not have this confused ideological problem with the idea of addressing the national diet. Because if you are going to talk about the future of the nhs, you cannot do it in a coherent and meaningful Way without putting the issue of Obesity Front and centre. People are abroad with the idea that you want to get people healthier but is sometimes a kickback from people saying, dont tell me what i can do cannot eat, dont tell me what i can and cannot watch, what adverts i can see. You know there is that kickback of saying, dont lecture me and that happens. Saying, dont lecture me and that ha ens. Saying, dont lecture me and that ha ens. , saying, dont lecture me and that ha ens. , happens. That is something we often see the media. Happens. That is something we often see the media. The idea that there i see the media. The idea that there are people saying, dont stop me watching Junk Food advertising, we know from research this is actually a really popular measure. The classic kickback is, people are in control of their own lives, they need to make their own decisions, its not for us the government to intervene, this is about Self Discipline and willpower. Lets look at it like this. We have a huge crisis around the food that we eat. Is that being caused, has that been caused over the last 30 years by a crisis in human willpower, notjust in the uk by globally or is it more likely that it has been changed by the power of the Food Industry and the power of the Food Industry and the influence of Advertising And Branding . I know what the more credible answer is for me. I was concerned by the applied scepticism with the Way-you'>Way You were questioning matthew just then, with the Way-you'>Way You were questioning matthewjust then, a huge amount of research over the place has showed the connections between these things. Over decades has showed the connections between these things. The british Heart Foundation last week published a study showing that labelling of unhealthy food is set to make a real difference. There are three things that can make a difference. Labelling, Taxation And Advertising restrictions together. Its notjUst About punishing companies for the food that they are giving us, its about motivating them and incentivising them to reformulate. Any of these companies can go on advertising their products, even to children, if they are ready to reformulate and make their products healthier. Those options are therefore the industry and they alWays have been. This is overdue action. Its exciting, its a vindication of an Obesity Alliance which has got more than 50 ngos who have been singing from the same Hymn Sheet for over a decade. It really is overdue, the time is now and we have a crack on. Its is overdue, the time is now and we have a crack on have a crack on. Its interesting Ou Call have a crack on. There is an Obesity Problem in liverpool to be completely honest. There is an Vissi Problem in liverpool compared to the national average. One of the things is affordability. That is one of the reason people buyJunk Food. No advertising, so how do you make healthy food more affordable . Aha, healthy food more affordable . A range of measures is required, this is the range of measures is required, this is the Start Range of measures is required, this is the start of the journey, reducing is the start of the journey, reducing advertising reduces Peoples Desire to purchase products but we Peoples Desire to purchase products but we need to work on the Price Point but we need to work on the Price Point and but we need to work on the Price Point and availability of good food. Its the Womens Equivalent to the Ryder Cup with the americans saying they have unfinished business. Youll be able to watch highights every night on bbc two. I alWays love playing a Solheim Cup In America because the atmosphere is unbelievable. And, i dont know, we play over here every week on the Lpga Tour, and ijust really enjoy it. Its being called the Sport Trial of the century, and after years of fans talking about it, a date is set and the hearing into manchester citys alleged 115 breaches of Premier League financial rules is set to start on monday at an undisclosed location. The dominant force in English Football in recent times are accused of failing to comply with regulations dating back to the 2009 2010 season. City deny the charges and claim they have a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of their position. But they could face penalties such as a Points Deduction or significant fine if found guilty. The hearing held by an independent commission could last up to two months with a final verdict expected before The End of the current Premier League season. Next more beef between the Manchester United Manager Erik Ten Hag and former star player Cristiano Ronaldo after his latest dig at The Club and manager. Ronaldo said ten hag was wrong to admit that the team were a long Way aWay from winning the Premier League for the first time since 2013. Ten hag replied saying the former united star was in saudi, a long Way from manchester. He said that Manchester United cant win the Premier League. He said you. No, he said this. If you read the article very well. So hes far aWay from saudi. AWay from manchester. So everyone can have, and is entitled to have an opinion. Its ok. Now what an end we have in store to the Title Race in Crickets County Championship after somerset pulled off a dramatic victory against leaders surrey with the last ball of the match thanks to a name so famous to cricket fans. And it was somerset s archie vaughan, the archie vaughan, the 18 year old son of former England Captain michael vaughan, who was the star of the show taking wickets in the match. And with time running outJack Leach got somerset over the Finish Line taking the last two surrey wickets to secure the game, much to the joy of the home side. It means somerset are now eight points behind the leaders with two matches to play. Now something rather special ahead of formula one returning this weekend with the teams in baku for the azerbaijan grand prix. Britains Lando Norris is be hoping to reduce max verstappens 62 Point Lead in the Drivers Championship still further with eight races remaining. And before departing norris got to experience the thrill of driving a Mclaren V 8 hypercar made entirely from lego. This was around silverstone. Its comprised of 342,000 little bricks and only the electric battery which powers the engine and tyres, seat belts and Steering Wheel Arent made of lego. Other brands are available. Norris who hopes to keep building towards a Maiden F1 Title was given a boost this week when mclaren said they will show him bias in their race strategy. Its a good thing for me, it gives me better chances, and i think its a good thing for the team, from the Team Point of view. Whether its against red bull, or, at the minute it seems more like ferrari and potentially mercedes. There is still a long Way to go, especially from the Constructors Point of view, a lot of points that a constructor can score every weekend. When i think of the little brits, you think about the pain when you tread on them in their feet. You think about the pain when you tread on them in theirfeet. And talking about bare feet this is close to my heart. All of the features we have done for breakfast, this is one of my favourites and i found it easier than were on skis. Water skiing without any skis. Tricky, i imagine, to say the least. It is a real sport, not a fad. It is a real sport, not a fad. Yeah, barefoot waterskiing. A pair of barefoot brits are swapping the River Ouse in North Yorkshire for the warm waters of florida as they head to the world championships. Beth parsons went to meet them. Its Training Day for robbie and olly ahead of their trip across the ocean to take part in the world barefoot championships. So, basically, its Water Skiing without skis, so just skiing on your bare feet and nothing else. Its a far cry from the warm, balmy weather of florida, where the competition takes place, but this stretch of the ouse near cawood works well enough for a bit of practice. Pain you made me a, you made me a believer, believer. One of the first things people say to you does it hurt your feet . The only time it would hurt your feet is, like, sometimes beginners, rather than sort of gliding on top of the water, tend to want to plough against it. But once youre relaxed and sort of ski less defensively, its actually a really nice feeling to just sort of, you know, being Free and gliding. Robbie from wakefield has won gold, Silver And Bronze medals in barefoot competitions before, and he actually inspired 15 year old olly to give the sport a go. I saw Robbie Skiing up and down the strip here justjumped out the side of the boat and started skiing. It looked really cool and i was like, i have to do that. And then once i actually started it, ijust couldnt stop. It was awesome. Since then, ollyjoined Team Gb and came first in the nationals perfectly paving the Way for the two of them to take it global with the world championships next month. So the Tricks Event is when were doing as many tricks as possible in 15 seconds behind the boat. The Slalom Event is how many times youve crossed the wake on your bare feet in 15 seconds behind the boat. And with slalom, we tend to like to go a little bit quicker, because it does help so we go about 45 miles an hourfor slalom. The actual competition will take place on a lake made for water sports. They dont have that luxury here in North Yorkshire, and there are certain challenges with training here on the River Ouse. Because its a tidal river, we need to look at the tides, really, cos obviously sometimes theres some debris in the Way, and on a low tide it means that and on a low tide it means that theres less debris theres less debris its a lot safer for its a lot safer for us to do it, as well. Us to do it, as well. The pair will be getting in as many the pair will be getting in as many practice runs as possible before practice runs as possible before the world championships next month. The world championships next month. Beth parsons, Bbc Beth parsons, Bbc Look north, kenwood. Look north, kenwood. Pain pain you made me a, you made me a believer, believer. Sam wealleans became ill when he was just 2. 1 miles from the Finish Line. Later this month, thousands are expected to run that exact distance in his Home Town of newbiggin by the sea. Damian oneill reports. Its still not known what caused an apparently fit and healthy young man to collapse with just over two miles to go on last sundays great North Run. But the shock of his passing has left his family, his friends and the running community both devastated and needing to do something. He was as fit as a fiddle. You just need to look at him. Its friday the 13th of september. Our main story. The Prime Minister is meeting President Biden in Washington Today 7 as allies of kyiv discuss giving Ukraine Permission to fire their missiles at targets inside russia. President putin has warned that doing so would be a serious escalation of the war but Keir Starmer said moscow started the conflict and can end it by withdrawing its troops from ukraine. 0ur Political Editor Chris Mason was on the prime Ministers Plane and sent this report shortly after landing. Translation if this decision is made, it will mean nothing other than direct participation of nato countries the United States, I European countries | in the war in ukraine. It is their direct participation and this, of course, significantly changes the very essence of the conflict. This will mean that nato countries the United States, European Countries i are fighting with russia. So what does the prime Minister Make of that . 0n Ourflight here, we had a chance to ask him in what we call a huddle where all of the reporters on the Trip Crowd around the Prime Minister and ask questions. It was really striking how defiant Keir Starmer was in his language about vladimir putin repeatedly saying that russia started this, moscow caused the conflict, and it could stop it. As for the prospect of those anglo frencH Missiles Storm Shadow missiles being fired into russia, he was a little more cautious in his language. In october next year. The government says the watershed will help tackle one of the biggest Health Problems facing the uk but campaigners say they could go further. 0ur ReporterJayne Mccubbin has the story. We have had an Emailfrom Someone saying they are one charge . We have had an Emailfrom Someone saying they are one of charge . We have had an emailfrom| someone saying they are one of these people with a regular Return Rate so asos have identified people they will keep a track on. Good morning. Weve all become so used to sofa shopping the ease of it all has led to a huge growth in online sales. In fact, more than a quarter of all our retail Spending Everything from clothes to food is spent online. Thats up from a tenth a decade ago. And as we buy more well, we return more, too. Last year we sent back an estimated £13 billion worth of products. Especially clothes where shoppers buy more so they can check sizes, work out how they look on. That comes at a cost to retailers. And some are now changing their rules. If you buy a lot of clothes from asos you might have had an email. Theyre planning to take aWay four quid from customers refunds if those customers keep less than £40 worth of items. They say its so they can still offer Free returns for most customers. Theyre not the only ones. Boohoo also a Fashion Retailer charges a Flat Rate of £1. 99 for returns. H m they charge the same. But thats for customers who arent a member of its loyalty programme. Retail Analyst Catherine Shuttleworth told us she understands why these charges are being made. According to industry research, around a third of the countrys biggest retailers are now charging for online returns. So this could be the new reality for online shopping. Asos told us their charges will only affect a small number customers with what they call a frequently high Return Rate. They say the vast majority will still get Free returns. As predicted, this one has proved quite divisive. Shown are E Mailed, she is one of the people who has been told she is one of these asos customers with a high Return Rate. She said she has made 12 orders this year but only to have been sent back where she hasnt kept anything and she says it is all to do with sizing of the products, it is really difficult to predict what they will be like when you try them on. Val E Mailed to say she was barely sympathetic, many people will be clearly abusing the system but she said she is only fairly sympathetic because these businesses do not have the same costs as high street businesses. Staff, rent, business rates. Carol say she now uses a website that has accurate garment measurements so you can work out if the item will fit better without the bother of returning. Proving incredibly divisive, as i say. You only need to be on the streets to see the number of lorries doing deliveries and returns, and they dont come cheap. I like doing deliveries and returns, and they dont come cheap. They dont come cheap. I like the email about they dont come cheap. I like the email about that they dont come cheap. I like the email about that measuring they dont come cheap. I like the email about that measuring butj they dont come cheap. I like the email about that measuring but that E Mail about that measuring but that is when you have to know that the company uses manufacturers that give consistency of that sizing. Thank you. Didnt we know it would get lots of response . The duke of sussex has told the bbC He was anxious about turning 30 but is excited about turning 40 this weekend. In a statement, Prince Harry said becoming a father had given him fresh perspective and increased his desire to make the world a better place. A warning this report by our senior Royal Correspondent Daniela Relph contains flash photography. Its been a turbulent decade for the duke of sussex. Hes become a husband and a father, Split Acrimoniously from the Royal Family, and moved to california. But he appears to be approaching his 40th with a sense of positivity. We asked Prince Harry how he felt about hiS Birthday. In a statement to the bbc, he told us. He also spoke about the importance of his family witH Meghan, duchess of sussex, and their Children Archie and lilibet. Back in may, we filmed harry as he led the games at a Kids Party while visiting london. Every child in this room has lost a parent who served in the military. In recent weeks, there has been speculation that harrys next decade could include a return to the uk on a more permanent basis. But those who know him well have told me he has no interest in giving up the life hes built In America. As he heads into his 405, though, there will be some strong reasons pulling him back to the uk. The Invictus Games for injured servicemen and women will be held in birmingham in 2027. Created by harry when he was 30, it remains a personal passion ten years on. Hes described it to me, you know, as his first child. I mean, it is a very important thing. I think it speaks very. Deeply to the soldier in him. If you look back at 2014, you know, there was a strong representation of the Royal Family, and it was great to see. And, of course, everybody hopes that well see that again. But his fall out with the Royal Family has been painful for all concerned particularly the broken bond with his brother. There is no reconciliation on the cards. The Diana Award set up in his Mothers Name to empower young people is in a unique position. Despite the family tensions, both william and harry continue to engage with the organisation, but in different Ways. Next month, harry will be in New York to highlight their work. Were deeply honoured to have both of them, but on the other hand, theyve alWays both said, you know, its their Mothers Charity theyre deeply committed to her, deeply committed to the work, and its something that theyjust continue to support. In colombia last month, to promote the work of their archewell foundation, there will be more of these types of trips ahead. They are the Harry And Meghan version of a royal tour. A 40th birthday can be a time to reflect, and ponder whats next. For Prince Harry, there is much to think about. Daniela relph, Bbc News. Were joined now by the royal commentatorjennie bond. Yes, a massive rift with his family here but he has put that pretty much to one side. This has confirmed what i thought, his statement to the bbc, which was unusual in itself. We seem to deride everything that Harry And Meghan do. Personally i think if harry is going to reflect on his life at 40 maybe we should reflect on what we say about them because there is this tendency to rip them apart. Yes, he has been a very silly boy in my view, made some absolutely devastating and damaging and hurtful accusations about his family and i dont think he expected it to make such a terminal rift with william under very difficult path back to reconciliation with his father. Yes, he has been stupid but we dont have to mark everything they do and say and how they act stock for example, in colombia, i thought it was fantastic that someone with Harrys Kind of platform stood up and said, hey, we have to stop what is going on online with our children, some of whom, the people he was with, where parents of a child who had been driven to suicide by the dark web. I will not say tour, various countries, highlighting issues they care about. They are pretty rich, i know he goes on about money and i think that is a bit daft, personally. On sunday, when he is 40, he will inherit more millions from his late grandmother and great grandmother, and so he is not short of a bob or two so he can use that, as he says, to do good and i think we should stop trying to call these towards a royal tour. Youll see this new double strength liberal democrats in london coming together and being a voice for the whole of the capital, actually, notjust their own constituents, notjust southwest london. But, you know, weve got to show that we deserve the trust people have put in us. We talked about the Health Service and care in the election. We put it centrepiece. That will be the case. Lets Take A Look at the tubes now. The District Line has severe delays between Earls Court and ealing broadWay and richmond, Thejubilee Line has minor delays and London Overground is part suspended sydenham to west croydon. Thats it you can keep up to date with all the Days News on our website or on the Bbc News app. Hello, this is breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. Bradford has officially announced its programme of events for next year, as it celebrates being the Uk City of Culture And Itll include a Drawing Project supported by the Artist David Hockney, and the city will host the turner prize. . The city of Culture Prize was introduced after liverpools successful year as the European Capital of culture, back in 2008. And most recently, in 2021, coventry wore the crown. Now its bradfords turn and its prompted a rush of civic Pride And Plenty of stories. Humaira bham lives in bradford has been exploring how the city has shaped herfamily through the generations. Dear aba, i have reached safely to this place, this city. It is not near london, more northern, and it is really quite pretty. But it is cold and it is wet and all so foreign. That was my grandmother reading a poem i wrote about the struggles she went through when moving to yorkshire. Its a struggle that many go through to this day when moving to a new place. For my grandparents it was from India And South africa in the late 19505, when there was a call for more industrial workers in northern towns. My dads mum, we call her dadi ma, came over when she was just 17 years old. Did you know it was going to be cold in england when you came . I dont know. You didnt know . No. And, uh, no friend. You didnt have any friends . No. And not so many people here is, uh, india, pakistan people, is not too much. There isnt that many other indian people or pakistani people. Yeah, some come to visit for saturday, sunday, thats it. After years of Sofa Surfing and financial struggle, my family founded this wholesale Fruit And Veg business in bradford, supplying the kind of produce that the newly arrived couldnt get their hands on easily. This business is still going strong 50 years later, supporting the extended family and the wider community to this day. This business makes me very proud to be able to continue the legacy of, obviously, our grandfather, who came to bradford and set this business up, and then for us to continue to run it. The Community Know who we are and we definitely know who the community are. As the business grew, my family settled just up the road in batley. My mums mum, we call her nani ma, recalls how welcoming local people were. 1966 when i came here and it was very nice, we were all friendly. No matter what your ethnicity, it didnt matter . No, no, no, no. Everybody got on . Alhamdulillah, yeah, we all got on. So, mum, what were your experiences growing up . Bradford reminds me of my childhood. Whenever i go, itjust sparks a little memory in my head that this is where the success was for my family. You never got to spend much time with your dad at home because he was so busy. Yeah. But he alWays used to say that, youll thank me later. Im not there, you know, i cant alWays be there. But youre going to thank me later, and he was right, 50 years later. Dear grandmas, thank you for moving to yorkshire. I get to grow up and gain opportunities. I get to breathe in the clean northern air. I get to become friends with and meet people who are from everywhere. So heres to bradford, the youngest city. We adore her, shes sweet and her folk are so friendly. A city with love in its Soul And Culture at its heart. A bloke you dont know but hell say, you all right, sweetheart . Heres to bradford city of culture 2025.
