There is a caveat, the Prime Minister and the snp5 there could be possibly be teething Nicola Sturgeon over a second problems so were asking people to Scottish Independence referendum. Before they travel from tomorrow. On a practical level, when actually we understand a phone call was had does the timetable kick in . What between Nicola Sturgeon and boris john5on between Nicola Sturgeon and boris time do johnson and Boris Johnson, does the timetable kick in . What time do i have to look out for the between Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson and borisjohn5on, again areas, as a commuter, someone reiterated by downing street, says there will be no second referendum travelling tomorrow to visit family. Because of the electrification your Business Correspondent was talking there is other stuff in5ide so. It is walter walsh coverage. There is other stuff inside the papers, isnt there . You know that about. Nearly 15 minutes. They will thing, a lot of people going to be changes to the times that trains partie5, you go to a party and you depart and come into paddington but, cannot hear what someone is saying if you are a morning commuter, there and you do that thing and then you should be 10,000 extra seats every have to lean and an this time of weekday and we hope that is a year it happens a lot. This can benefit that will vault over any potential teething problems. Diagnose party deafness. There is a benefit that will vault over any potentialteething problems. Some margin between people who have people will hear that phrase, small unknown hearing problem and someone who mightjust teething problems and this is a unknown hearing problem and someone who might just struggle unknown hearing problem and someone who mightjust struggle with certain bit5 who mightjust struggle with certain bits of audio. They have come up spokesperson saying it could all end with this test that has a markup. Up spokesperson saying it could all end up in chaos again. What do we do . Not do anything, pause on ambition . You might not have a hearing problem but there might be certain places quite rightly we get complaints you struggle. There is an advantage because the trains are packed. This to parties like that that make if you do not want to talk to the is what were trying to do and this is what were trying to do and this is our opportunity to do it, person, i cant and walk away. I do anything timetable changes. There are two every year, to get ready for that quite a lot this excites me. The seasons, for summer and for it may surprise you, charlie, that i winter. This is where we put on ama those extra services and we are it may surprise you, charlie, that i am a little bit. Ob5e55ive i5 making those changes today to make things better but also we need to it may surprise you, charlie, that i am a little bit. Ob5e55ive is the wrong word but concerned about fix the system for the future and many travellers will want to hear cleanliness. Thi5 elastic surface that. We want to work with the new government to deliver real lasting repels bacteria. They can be used in changes, especially fares reform because it is stuck in the 905 and ho5pital5 repels bacteria. They can be used in hospitals and kitchens so it is it is confusing and complex and does almost like a transparent wrap. You not reflect the way people live can put it on door handles, their lives and we want to make sure we wa nt their lives and we want to make sure we want to work on that as well as wherever, and it basically 5tops can put it on door handles, wherever, and it basically stops the accidental tran5fer the time table changes. Why is it so wherever, and it basically stops the accidental transfer of bacteria wherever, and it basically stops the accidental tra n5fer of bacteria and it is inspired by the water ha rd the time table changes. Why is it so hard for both of those things to repellent lotu5 leaf stop but you happen smoothly and without problems . People listening will still have to clean it. It does not think, of course we embrace the idea negate cleaning. No but it is the of improving generally but why is it bug5 negate cleaning. No but it is the bugs that jump off not possible to do both of those negate cleaning. No but it is the bug5 thatjump off backjump up. The things well . Simply, it is technical term. I guess so. Congested. It is a congested network that make my question was really about the business of the timetable. Why is it not possible . On the one bug5 thatjump off backjump up. The technicalterm. I guess so. You cant pick a hole through that. What, cleanliness tardiness and hand you say what are we supposed to do, we want a better system and if cleanliness are Different Things and people can endure a little hardship, bug5 cleanliness are Different Things and bugs will jump off there you go. Why can you do both cleanliness are Different Things and bug5 willjump off everything, wouldnt they . They probably would, and given what happen in may of last year, you say lessons have been keep your services nice and clean learned, if so why should people though. Some blu5tery conditions expect more problems . Today, but really the weekend characterised by 5un5hine today, but really the weekend characterised by sunshine and 5howers. Cold enough at times to bring some 5now over some of the Higher Ground. More about that in a he they discuss each one of these services being added and if they moment. The satellite shows look as if they will cause a problem extensive cloud working in, some i have been taken out so. How many lengthy downpours working into scotla nd lengthy downpours working into scotland at the moment and particularly for southern areas and have been taken out . Several have through the central belt and a clump been taken out and i do not have the of downpours a5 exact number but there have been. We through the central belt and a clump of downpours as well working towards wale5 of downpours as well working towards wales in South West England. For do not want the same problems that some of us it is a wet start to the happened in may last year. Of course we do not, because we know that we day. As the day goes by, these areas are doing this in order to benefit of showers will continue to push ea5t so it is one of those days passengers so it would be where everyone will see a downpour counterintuitive to introduce services that we knew would cause or two and some 5un5hine between the 5how problems. But we have got hundreds or two and some 5un5hine between the show is cro55ing london and wales but for Northern Ireland and of extra staff on duty to ensure scotla nd but for Northern Ireland and scotland by and large it will stay that if there were problems and we cloudy even between the showers, not will detect them fairly quickly if a great deal of sunshine, and windy we are starting to see issues arise, to deal with it much more quickly and blustery. Gu5ts reaching 50 60 mile5 and blustery. Gu5ts reaching 50 60 than we did may last year. On a miles an houraround and blustery. Gu5ts reaching 50 60 miles an hour around the Channel Islands and 40 50 around the coast practical note, you are saying to until software and it will knock the people whatever may happen, check to edge of these temperatures, it will see that your train is running as feel quite chilly out and about. Overnight acro55 Northern Hills, it scheduled in case there is problems, just purely on a practical level. On get5 overnight acro55 Northern Hills, it gets a little bit colder so we see purely a practical level we are some of those showers turning to doing this to make the service 5now. Some of those showers turning to snow. The risk of snow really is better, more punctual and more reliable and were not doing this to acro55 snow. The risk of snow really is across the high ground in wales, inconvenience people, we are doing acro55 across the high ground in wales, this because people want those extra across the high ground in wales, across the pennines, into the yorkshire dales. Further northward5, services and we are putting everything in place that we can to into southern upland5 of around some make sure that it goes without a of the grass verge a5 into southern upland5 of around some hitch. All we are saying is of the grass verge as we could have a few centimetres of snow building potentially, they could be teething up a few centimetres of snow building up so for some of us a bit of a problems. You know, as staff and ta5te up so for some of us a bit of a passengers get used to the new taste of winter overnight but for timetables. So we are asking people the rest of us particularly for to check. Thank you for your time tho5e the rest of us particularly for those who live nearer to sealevel which is the vast majority of us, this morning. It is 16 minutes past any showers will tend to fall as rain. It will stay blu5tery and the seven. I wonder if the weather will wind5 rain. It will stay blu5tery and the winds will tend to keep the affect rail services. Chris can tell temperatures from falling too low, us affect rail services. Chris can tell us all about. Not this weekend, you they could be a touch of frost though out and about as we head into will be pleased to hear, it is sunday. Sunday is another day with obviously tho5e blu5tery mostly not bad at all for any south westerly wind5 rolling in and the area of low pressure working disruption, disruptive weather, but into Northern Ireland will bring this weekend it is a weekend of extensive cloud and the showers here sunshine and scarlet and it will be blustery with some snow around will be prolonged. Over the highest across some of the Northern Hills to ground, a few flakes of snow falling watch out for. The satellite shows but for most of us, just a day of extensive cloud working on across wales and South West England with sunny spell5 but for most of us, just a day of sunny spells and blu5tery downpours some heavy downpours working in here again. The winds coming in from the 5outh we5t, again could gu5t to right now. We also have showers for about a0 or 50 miles an hour around Northern Ireland and persistent rain expo5ed coa5t5 working through the central belt of about a0 or 50 miles an hour around expo5ed coasts and there should be a little bit more about 5un5hine scotla nd working through the central belt of scotland into southern scotland, between the showers. Temperatures around the butte area. For some of are similarto us, a web start but what is in areas between the showers. Temperatures are similar to saturday, five degrees across the northern half of it is here where we will see the the country so feeling cold, further best of the sunshine but the showers south, near normal but again, the will work in across the eastern strength of the winds makes it feel areas as we go through the day so it call them out. We can head, isa areas as we go through the day so it is a day where most of us will see a u nsettled. Call them out. We can head, downpour or two and it stays unsettled. A cool start for many of blustery as well with wind gusts of us unsettled. A cool start for many of us but things do turn more mild as around a0 50 miles an hour and 50 6 the week goes by with temperatures towards thursday and friday lifting gusts down near the Channel Islands above average but in the short term soi gusts down near the Channel Islands so i blustery windy day there. For some of us, we could see some bridges, ten or 11 across southern snow over the Higher Ground as we go areas but cold for the far north of through this weekend. Back to you two. Snow over the Higher Ground as we go through this weekend. Back to you england, Northern Ireland and two. Should i ask charlies scotla nd england, Northern Ireland and scotland and is the air gets colder, question . Do you know what it will as we go through this evening and overnight, some of those showers be like on christmas . No, these will increase increasingly turn things are rare but i will take a to snow showers so we could see close look and get back to you in localised accumulations of snow the next 30 minutes. Is it like your building in across north wales, the favourite question being asked . Pennines and also into the southern this time of year it is a classic. Uplands of scotland and around the you will always be asked. These argyle and butte area as well. Allegation is keys that you are things are rare and may well get likely to seek elevation is keys mild but we will have to have a look. I will get back to you. And the kingmaker, a documentary i suspect there will be more in the about Imelda Marcos. So, sons of denmark. Way of sunshine through sunday afternoon and across Northern Ireland and scotland than we will see today. Temperatures still struggling across Northern Areas with 3 five so it is cold here but a danish drama. Interesting . Further south temperatures close to normalfor further south temperatures close to normal for this further south temperatures close to normalfor this time of further south temperatures close to normal for this time of year, eight in cardiff and nine for london. This bunch of islamophobic attacks in copenhagen. Weekend, lots of showers about, blustery, overnight and didnt tomorrow could be snow around across as a result of these attacks, Northern Hills so for some of us, a young muslims are being radicalised little taste of winter. Do you at the same time. Little taste of winter. Do lets see a clip. Northern hills so for some of us, a little taste of winter. Do you too. Thank you, chris. It is 19 minutes past seven and you are watching brea kfast past seven and you are watching breakfast from bbc news. Time now for a look at the newspapers. Lets look at the front pages. The daily mail shows its support for Prime Ministerjohnson claiming we did it the mirror, which supported labours campaign, says its time for the party to start again. Of course there is lots of speculation about when Jeremy Corbyn will step down as leader of the party. We will speak to the snp in a few moments time. The scotsman takes a look at what it calls a collision course between the Prime Minister and the snps Nicola Sturgeon over a second Scottish Independence referendum. And online, the telegraph relays the Prime Ministers message from the steps of downing street yesterday, urging unity and healing following his partys victory. Lets talk to the snp now. So you can see in from that clip, it is gritty, but has we can talk now to the re elected mp, stewart hosie, whojoins a thriller undercurrent. We then follow an undercover agent us from dundee. Good morning and thank you for who is infiltrating that cell, but who becomes absolutely convinced speaking to us. Tell me what the that the greater threat is being posed by these kind mood is like in the snp at the of white nationalists. The interesting thing moment and of course, victorious in about the drama is this on the one hand, it takes scotland, more seats than expected, a real life situation, a8, but did not want borisjohnson it imagines it four years in the future. As Prime Minister. No, so it is a theres an element of fantastic imagination about it. Mixture of happiness that we have at times, it is really gritty one which is a good thing and huge and really convincing and does a very interesting job disappointment that the tories are backin of wrong footing the audience disappointment that the tories are back in power across the uk. So i about their expectations think what we will also have is a about where the drama is going. Rather steely determination to make at other times, i have to say, it does tip over sure that this tory government, the into quite crass melodrama. You end up with a film majority one, sadly, is not able to bulld oze majority one, sadly, is not able to bulldoze through some of the more that is intriguing. Dangerous things which tory governments in the past have done. I do think the ulaa salim is an interesting film maker what is dangerous . Dangerous is and we will see better work in the future. Slashing the welfare budget, the things with this is that its fine, but not great, because it does have a tendency dangerous is embarking on a think to slip into melodrama, what would be a catastrophic trade when actually what it needs is to keep the downbeat tone that deal, i kind of tory trump characterises the best scenes. It is set in 2025 i wonder why. Dissociation dystopian future because its basically extrapolating from the present situation whether some of the nhs, so a lot of and saying, lets see. Work to get on with. How are you going to make a difference . In if we imagine these trends, lets put it. Politics, it is not enough to simply so, its near enough future to be wina politics, it is not enough to simply win a vote. You actually have to win present but far enough away to not actually be what is an argumentand win a vote. You actually have to win an argument and we think the happening right now. Ok, thank you for that. Argument to protect the nhs and the and jumanji the next level. The same but more, you say . Argument to protect the nhs and the argument is to ensure, if there has to bea you could say that about any argument is to ensure, if there has to be a brexit at all, it is a soft sequel, couldnt you . Well, no, because its quite brexit as possible. We think these often the same, but less. So nobody thought thatjumanji are strong arguments and if you make are strong arguments and if you make a Strong Enough case, of course, you welcome to thejungle would be any can change peoples mines. Do you good, because thejumanji really think you have got the power original movie. I know people like it, i was never a big fan of it. In government now to influence boris in welcome to thejungle, johnson . He has got his majority. They essentially rather than things coming given anyone thought he may get. Out of the board game, our heroes go into the video game. This time, we get the same crew back indeed, and the alternative to again of dwayne johnson, common sense is that the tories are jack black, kevin hart bashing ahead with some dreadful and karen gillan, but we add a couple of new characters. Right wing ideological provisions which would actually, in the long these old codgers played run, damage trade and weaken by danny devito and danny glover, who accidentally get sucked society, all of which are profoundly into the game with our young heroes. Bad, so we go there i think with a and all the things that made good heart make a very strong case the original film work really well to make some very strong arguments which is this central body swap and fundamentally, from the snp point of view, to stand up for idea, that these people get sucked scotla nd point of view, to stand up for scotland and have scotlands voice into the game and have heard. You say you go in with a avatars of different strong hard and that is an admirable one becomes heroic, one becomes the rock, one becomes jack black it is like that, but everything intention, however a phone call took place between Nicola Sturgeon, is turned up to 11. Leader of the snp, and the prime so theres more body swapping, minister yesterday and we understand theres more identities, there is some really good fun from downing street that boris special effects sequences. Johnson made very clear you are not theres a giant ostrich chasing a dune buggy sequence which made me getting a second independence think, wow referendum. Well, he may have said, cg has really come on since iam not referendum. Well, he may have said, i am not privy to the telephone conversation and i would not take the days ofjurassic park the spin from ten downing st is absolutely accurate. We know that and, i mean, as long as we assume during the election campaign, any of ok, its not looking to be the things that were said, a masterpiece, it is not particularly from the tories, turned looking to redefine the boundaries of cinema but, out not to be wholly true. To be as a good piece of solid entertainment, i was going to say clear, stewart, he said you would not be getting one, you are not Family Entertainment getting one, but is a clear message, it is hard to spin it. Not with the exception of necessarily because having a i sound prudish here the fact there were a couple of off colour referendum is not up to boris gags that i thought did not johnson. He cannot stop the scottish need to be in there. Government actually calling a but those aside, i actually thought referendum. This is about a it was much better than we had any right to expect for the second time particular transfer of powers of or third time if you count section 30 transfer which fundamentally ensures both sides the third, orfourth if you count zathura, agreed to accept the outcome and i which i dont. Good to know very good to know think there is a very, very long way right, now we have the kingmaker. Which is about mrs marcos to go on this story. That is not a documentary about Imelda Marcos. Who had 3,000 shoes, famously. Reports vary. True, really, is it . You do need it is made by Lauren Greenfield. She made queen of and generation consent with section 30 which is pa rt consent with section 30 which is part of the scotland act, you need consent for the Scottish Parliament wealth. To hold another referendum. Im not she made queen of versailles and generation wealth. Sure that is exactly true and sadly, she knows how to do documentaries if you recall the argument in 201a, of extravagant wealth. We see Imelda Marcos interviewed and she proclaims herself to be although it was not necessarily, it the mother of the nation was desirable to have the transfer. This great, healing person who could possibly the fact is you can have a second reunify her people. We hear her saying that referendum but it would not be all the extravagances that she had, legally binding. Indeed, and that is they were all there in order to offer a shining star to the poor, the point i am making. Section 30 who need somebody to look up to. Tra n5fer the point i am making. Section 30 and, as we see in this clip, transfer would effectively ensure she drives around handing out money both sides accept the outcome and as because she has some. I say, we are not at that position yet. The formal request has not been made. But in purely democratic terms, we won 80 of the seats and around a5 of the vote and that is a mandate to have a referendum. The uk government, the tory government, 155 of the seats and a low share of the vote so if we are being held to the vote so if we are being held to the same standards, if we are unable to deliver our manifesto of commitments in relation to an independence referendum, that of course Boris Johnson independence referendum, that of course borisjohnson should be unable to deliver the commitments he has made in regard to brexit. They cannot have it both ways. What are you going how is the snp going to make a difference to scotland if you do not get a second referendum . Do you think you were voted in purely on that . No, there are three ways in which political parties, the snp in i read she had a fortune of 2a particular, make a difference and billion certainly a bit one is the actions they take on the to give away. Scottish government and the work that the mp5 do on behalf of their constituents in westminster and the yet, one of the things this third is moving scotland on in documentary is about is how much of the money she still has is now constitutional terms but it isnt all down to the final point. Do you being used to attempt to reintroduce her dynasty. Think you have had perhaps more and we follow her as she promotes weight in westminster if there was a her son, who is known affectionately as bongbong, in the elections. Hung parliament . You say you are the really interesting thing going on with a strong heart and you about this documentary is on the one wa nt to going on with a strong heart and you want to try to push for a soft hand, you had this character, brexit and you are worried about this ludicrous character who speaks ridiculously about herself dangerous ground with the welfare, budget, trade deal. If it were a and her situation. Hung parliament you would have more say. But is absolutely correct, no but behind it is something much question that is the case, in the darker somebody who talks about martial law as being a golden age. Election we have just fought, we did somebody speaks about ourjob by defeating tories. To try gaddafi as being a friend. To lock borisjohnson out of power. Somebody who turns their noses up at any reports of torture u nfortu nately to lock borisjohnson out of power. Unfortunately some of our friends in and incarceration and killings. The south were unable to do that and somebody who basically has, still, the south were unable to do that and the labour party sadly in england a huge amount of wealth that nobody have gone backwards and back was quite substantially. Therefore is entirely sure where it came from. Peter bradshaw in the guardian i hate to quote another critic significantly your vision is said rather brilliantly that this was an exquisitely horrible significantly your vision is significantly weakened. As you say portrait and i think it would have been stronger had that is exactly what it is. There been a Hung Parliament but the triumph of what Lauren Greenfield does is she draws were not there, the votes have been you in just enough to cast and counted and seats and we the ridiculousness of the situation. Now need to take on the importance this character who does look which we have which is a majority ridiculous. And then you see behind tory government take on the that something really, really dark. Opponents which we have. We will do the film does a very good job that with some vigor over the next of balancing what will interest few years. Stewart hosie, take you an audience the stories about the shoes and all that stuff so much forjoining us. It isjust and actually, the horrible reality. I thought it was a very interesting turned 27 minutes past seven. Piece of work. She is an extraordinary figure. I think she has the Guinness World youre watching breakfast. Still to come this morning record for the amount stolen from a government, basically. Yes. If you are a strictly come dancing at one point she is heard to say fan, it is a big night if i was running this now, well be finding out i could have sorted out wholl be dancing to all the worlds problems, what because all the world and asking mike who he thinks leaders love me. Will be lifting that famous and as soon as they meet me, they smile, and that will be it. And you think, you might actually glitterball trophy. Believe that to be true. But it isnt. Well, evidently, its not true, no. Headlines are coming up injust one best out . Moment. Ordinary love. And i cant recommend this highly enough. So this is liam neeson and Lesley Manville as a couple facing a diagnosis of breast cancer, and its a year in their life. It is written by owen mccafferty, a really well known belfast playwright, and directed by the couple who made good vibrations, a film about the Northern Ireland punk scene. And i think this is a great movie. I think that it has got fantastic performances. Despite the subject matter, it is very human and funny, very much about their relationship. It is really honest written to some extent from personal experience. I have now seen it three times and every time i have seen it, i have liked it more, and i really want people to go and see it. Its a hard sell, i know, but a really good movie. High praise indeed. Best dvd . A bit of nonsense angel has fallen, which i had chosen because i think the first two in this series i thought were rubbish. And then now, Gerard Butler teams up with nick nolte and suddenly, it becomes funny. And this was the first in the series when i thought, actually, youve got the measure of this now. This is deliberately ridiculous and i enjoyed it. Gerard butler is back in my good books. He isa he is a bodyguard who is protecting the president . He is a secret Service Agent who, everywhere he goes, chaos seems to follow. But in this one, he basically has got to go off on his own, because he is suspected of being the bad. Of course, he is not bad, he is Gerard Butler. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have to say i love films about american president s and their bodyguards. There was that one with with clint eastwood, hello, this is breakfast with Charlie Stayt i cant remember. And naga munchetty. Yeah, but olympus has fallen started heres a summary of todays main off with a premise that was done stories from bbc news almost at the same time borisjohnson will visit by white house down, the north of england today, and of the two movies, where traditional labour supporters helped him achieve the largest conservative victory white house down was the better one. Borisjohnson on his victory in the general election. Then theres all the other stuff. The president S Administration has repeatedly spoken out in support other stuff which kind of brexit and voiced of goes with it. Enthusiasm for a free trade deal with the uk. Mark, thank you very much. Very good to see you. That is is for this week. I want to congratulate borisjohnson on a terrific victory. Thanks for watching. Goodbye from both of us. I think that might be a harbinger of what is to come in our country. It was last time. He is a friend of mine. Passengers and we are trying to fix i want to congratulate borisjohnson on a terrific victory. Those. This is what were trying to i think that might be a harbinger do with the timetable changes. One of what is to come in our country. To get ready for summer and one to it was last time. He is a friend of mine. Get ready for winter and this is its going to be a great thing for the United States also, where we put on the extra services. Because it means a lot of trade, we are making those changes today tremendous amount of trade. They want to do business where we can but also we need to fix with us so badly. The system for the future and im two people have been arrested near downing street after scuffles broke out between sure many travellers would want to police and protesters. Hear that as well. The image for many its aiming to cutjourney times, people at the time, including arthur increase the frequence of some services and add new routes across the country following Infrastructure Investment conan doyle, the Sherlock Holmes author. It was not till 1983 that and upgraded carriages. Police in new zealand have frances confessed it was a fake. Resumed a Recovery Mission for one of the remaining victims of mondays volcanic eruption. Divers are searching author. It was not till 1983 that in the sea off white island frances confessed it was a fakem does seem extraordinary that people to retrieve a body, while another thought it was real but i embrace is still believed to be on land. That because a lot of people believe fourteen deaths have been confirmed in fairies. A lot of people. Why and around 20 people are in intensive care wouldnt you . In fairies. A lot of people. Why wouldnt you . I am not saying it is right or wrong but some people do. With severe burns. It is not even a belief thing, they just. What do you think . Do not get liverpool fans can enjoy an early Christmas Present me involved. Ithink like after managerjurgen klopp signed a new contract. Just. What do you think . Do not get me involved. I think like to believe these things that make it is not this would have been at the top of believing. Some people literally believe they carry fairies around. |j the santa claus list. Was it have been accused of being away with genuinely endowed . Last year, they the fairies. We use a brilliant asked him if he wanted to extend his Digital Effects so it is hard to contract and he was not ready to believe that it was only 35 years commit but since then, you think ago that that was still believed. About what liverpool had done, they only lost one game all season. They because people want to believe. They wa nt to because people want to believe. They want to believe. It is not a belief won the Champions League. This thing. It isjust real. Itell you season, through knockout stages again. Top of the premier league, what israel. Yes, it is confirmed unbeaten so far so they are not Juergen Klopp is hanging around. He wanting to give this manner. Club is one of those characters that has had replaced Brendan Rogers in 2016. Gone beyond football. You dont always like managers but it is really ha rd always like managers but it is really hard not to like him. It does not matter who you are, he has a klopp. Liverpool have an eight point lead great smile, he wears red and he is at the top of the premier league ahead of their lunchtime kick off making liveable fans christmas against watford today. Dreams come true. Last year he said i think the club is in a good place and we have the chance to develop a lot of things. A lot of exciting things coming up, obviously with the new academy, with maybe a new standard stuff like this and still a he wasnt ready to commit but after lot to come and, yes, but there will winning the Champions League, unbeaten last season and this season be cloudy days as well and you have to be there and make decisions and i so unbeaten last season and this season so far. I think they are very happy really feel very responsible for all that he will stick around until the things here. 2024, an early Christmas Present for and you might call this a coincidence, but liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has also signed liveable fans. A contract extension as rangers manager. Thatll keep him in charge until you guessed it, 202a the same year as klopp. 2024, an early Christmas Present for liveable fans. Liverpool. Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers maybe a bit of succession in 2015 and led liverpool to Champions League success last season. Liverpool have an eight point lead planning there . At the top of the premier league ahead of their lunchtime kick off gerrard had originally signed against watford today. A a year deal when he was appointed i think the club is in a good place in may 2018 but has been and we have the chance rewarded for recent success, qualifying for the europa still to develop. League knockout stages. A lot of things, a lot of exciting things coming up, Manchester City head coach obviously, with the new academy, pep guardiolas future with maybe a new stand is less certain. And stuff like this so its hes denied theres a clause still a lot to come and, in his contract that allows him yeah, but there will be cloudy days to leave the club next summer. As well and you have to be there, and make decisions and, yeah, guardiola won the treble i really feel very responsible with city last season, for all the things here. But they now find themselves 1a points behind liverpool in the title race. It is not true. It is not true, so and you might call this a coincidence, but liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has also signed a contract extension as rangers manager. You are definitely going to be here. I talked about that a few thatll keep him in charge until you guessed it, 202a the same year as klopp. Weeks ago, a week ago, about my intentions with the club. Maybe a bit of succession planning there . Gerrard had originally signed a a year deal when he was appointed in may 2018 but has been rewarded for recent success, qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages. Manchester city head coach Marcus Rashford is one of the pep guardiolas future is less certain. Current homegrown stars having come hes denied theres a clause through the clubs academy. My mum in his contract that allows him to leave the club next summer. Did not know much about football so guardiola won the treble with city last season, obviously we supported man united but they now find themselves 1a points behind liverpool in the title race. And the final decision came down to which club do you love and want to play for and, once i went to united, no, it is not true. It was perfect. The sort of thing reporter it is not true. No. So does that mean you are definitely you wish for as a kid. People say going to be here for the duration once you play for man united, you of your contract. . I talked about that a few weeks ago, are always a red and that is true one week ago, about my intentions with the club. For me. Manchester united play Everton Wayne rooney says he cant tomorrow with united looking wait to step on the pitch for a fourth successive win. As a player for derby county. Having come through ididnt i didnt have long off at the end of the clubs academy. Macys in the states so reallyjust my mum did not know much topping up and keeping myself about football, she always said ticking over to be ready and, as you we supported man united. The final decision came down said, if the game was tomorrow, i to which club do you love and want to play for would be able to play. Hull city came from behind and then, once i went twice to earn a two all draw to united, it was perfect. At charlton in the championship. It is heading that way but this weekend we have a mix of blustery showers around and some spells of sunshine to film legacies and interview the but it could be cold enough to see new mp. It is quite a surprise. On some snow on Northern Hills and more especially tonight and tent into tomorrows cool air works in but for the time being we have low pressure italian tv. I think that sentence in charge and some big showers working into wells in south west would come up on a sweepstake of england so a wet start to the day least likely things to be said to and widespread showers for Northern Ireland and we have only persistent me. Noone here was more surprised byjames rain working in across the central me. Noone here was more surprised pa rt rain working in across the central part of scotland in southern by james grundys success than james scotla nd part of scotland in southern scotland as well. Away from these grundy. Have you learned anything . Areas largely dry and bright start but it will not stay that way with tim but it will not stay that way with tim showers pushing eastwards by james grundys success than james grundy. Have you learned anything 7|j dont that tiny communities far away from the big city can think in a across the day with spells of sunshine in between. Northern different way. Waiting, david says ireland and scotland, those showers come through thick and fast and here he started things differently when i think it will stay cloudy, even between the showers, sunshine at a labour stop listening. Labour have premium, and windy. The gusts in the been very complacent. They were Channel Islands could be 50 60 miles given a clear message at the an hourand Channel Islands could be 50 60 miles an hour and across southern areas of beginning that he wanted out and the uk, temperatures close to normal because they have been messing around, we have given another clear for this time of year but Northern Ireland and the fun of and scotland, message. Jeremy corbyn has ruined cold, temperatures around five it. When we kick him out, we will be degrees and it is set to get colder overnight and that means some of the all right. Make no mistake, labour showers will start to bring some snow over the highest ground. Were is farfrom dead here. This woman talking about the hills could see some snow around the pennines, moved from dudley where she was a Southern Uplands and maybe the highest part of north wales. Could labour counsellor. She agrees with bea highest part of north wales. Could be a covering of a centimetre or two borisjohnson into labour counsellor. She agrees with Boris Johnson into regard. Labour counsellor. She agrees with borisjohnson into regard. Many labour voters have simply been on some of the grass verge is by gifted to him on loan and now is a dawn. Some of us getting a little taste of winter but otherwise, the time for healing. We cannot live showers falling as rain where most people live. Temperatures overnight, a cold night, getting into low together but i pray and hope the single figures, but the frost largely kept at bay on account of borisjohnson together but i pray and hope the its staying quite windy overnight. Boris johnson succeeds together but i pray and hope the borisjohnson succeeds because i knowJeremy Corbyn would. Sunday, another unsettled day, borisjohnson succeeds because i know Jeremy Corbyn would. Were another day of sunshine and blustery going to reflecting some of the showers and closer to this area of mixed fortunes of what happened on low pressure is where the cloudiest weather will be and the most frequent of the showers will be as well so for sunday, a similar kind election night. We will be speaking of day in many respects with the to an mp, conservative mp and she is only 2a years old so an showers starting off across Western Areas, pushing eastwards with time and in between more in the way of extraordinary night for her. The sunshine for Northern Ireland and for scotland so in that respect a issues facing other parties. Brighter day but it is windy again, just like reaching a0 or 50 miles an hour around exposed coasts and hills when you were 2a, were you in a so blustery once again. Entry next position to change the world . Week, temperatures, ishould when you were 2a, were you in a position to change the world7m when you were 2a, were you in a position to change the world . It is so blustery once again. Entry next week, temperatures, i should show extraordinary, isnt it . Not the you, 7 9d and further north, colder, youngest, in fact. Shall we show you five degrees. This weekend, chile what the view is like of london this across Northern Areas but in the week ahead it starts to turn a morning . It is quite a lovely light. Little bit milder and the mild and we were saying that salford is works its way in from the middle really blustery but actually, that pa rt works its way in from the middle part of the week onwards with looks lovely and clear. Lovely temperatures for many of us reaching double figures later on but as you light. Cold chris is casting his can see, it is unsettled with cloud eye down on the monitor and mix and rain living in at times as well. Today across the country, isnt it . I was having a cheeky look but this this weekend, blustery, a weekend of sunshine and showers and maybe some is also the skies around great snow over the high ground of london half an hour ago, sent in by Northern England and scotland as we go through tonight and for a time a weather watch viewer from tomorrow but essentially, it will be twickenham. Some sunshine is around turning milder in turning milder tomorrow but essentially, it will be turning milder in the week ahead. That is how the latest weather is but as we have already said, pretty looking, naga, charlie. Chris, thank blustery, and that is what we have got through the weekend. Heavy you, see you later. The time now is showers coming through and as it turns cold overnight and into a6 minutes past six. Tomorrow. For some, snow over the now on breakfast its time for click hills in the north. More on that in a second. We start off with the satellite, heavy showers working in across wales and South West England and it is a fine start to the day for central and eastern areas. Frequent showers for Northern Ireland and some lengthy spells of rain and at the moment they are working on through scotland and the central belt, the Southern Uplands and ourand central belt, the Southern Uplands and our and bute and closer an area of low pressure, quite unsettled for Northern Ireland and scotland with frequent showers and often quite cloudy weather and england and wales the show is put eastwards with time and it is one of those days where most of us will see a downpour and at some point. Wendy is well, the strongest winds running through the English Channel, the Channel Islands picking up gusts of 56 miles an hour the problem is the game has been in the blowy conditions here. Temperatures struggling really Development Since 2012 and it is across the north where it feels still nowhere near finished. Quite cold and further south Development Since 2012 and it is temperatures close than normal for still nowhere nearfinished. What Development Since 2012 and it is still nowhere near finished. What is going on . Even with that mega the time of year. Overnight as it sta rts the time of year. Overnight as it starts to turn a little colder, some budget, is this game just too of the showers will start to fall as ambitious . Mark has been in search snow. Were talking about of snow of the brains behind star citizen. Possibly over the high ground of the pennines, up over the cumbrian fells, the yorkshire dales, and into scotland, the southern upland and the hills of argyll and bute and star citizen combines elements of a massively multi player perhaps into the trossachs as well. Role playing game, spaceship sim these areas could pick up a couple and first person shooter, all in a vast, persistent universe. Of centimetres of snow overnight so for some, an early taste of winter and things could turn icing on the thanks, wendy roads. Otherwise, the winds keeping it has a large, loyalfan base. Temperatures close but probablyjust above freezing for many of us. Previously, we could not have done sunday then, actually started with a planet like this before. Low pressure still in charge, this is another blustery day and another cheering and applause. When i was a kid, i wanted day of sunshine and showers and they to be an astronaut. Will be a few differences in the i ended up being a dentist. I always used to fantasise weather. England and wales are with being a spaceman, starting off at showers across and thats what star citizen is. Coming up behind you. Western areas, pushing east with star citizen is important time in scotland and northern because its a Chris Roberts game. Ireland again will see showers and Chris Roberts started out the Wing Commander franchise it will be quite cold but i think in the 905. Its almost like hes there will be a little more in the way of sunshine between the showers the george lucas of space games. In Northern Ireland and scotland. Staying blowy though with top gusts star citizen came around because Chris Roberts wanted ao staying blowy though with top gusts a0 or 50 miles an hour around the to create the ultimate space sim that hadnt existed. Exposed coast and hills and those hed made Wing Commander and he wanted to make the biggest winds will make you feel cold again. Follow up to that. But i dont want to build any old game. Temperatures struggling, 3 5d, i want to build a universe. I want to build a game scotland, england, Northern Ireland i always wanted to build, and further south, closer to normal but i didnt have the at eight or nine in cardiff and tools to do until now. So when people then saw it, london. The week ahead, although we they saw what he was selling, they saw what he wanted to create, start off on a fairly chilly note, they wanted to invest in that. And invest, they have particularly across Northern Areas, there will be rain at times in the so far in excess of 250 million, week ahead with the low pressure with 37 million was raised still in charge of the trend is that in the last year alone. The weather will turn milder towards the weather will turn milder towards the end of the week with most of us all this for a game which is still seeing double figure temperatures by in the testing phase and isnt the time we get to thursday or ended a finished product. Friday. That is how the weather is looking. Back to you. Thank you, chris. The time now is a9 minutes past seven. But with the headlines at the moment. Back. Now, though, on breakfast, its time for the travel show. This week on the travel show Cloud Imperium games has been im in the uk to see developing star citizen since 2012. Up close how one it now has a team of 500 spread of the nations most iconic across five studios in the uk, landmarks is getting a much needed facelift. Ooh germany and the United States. Oh my very word. This is the la office. Look at that this is an unusual title in the before i head east to world of videogames because even norfolks thursford spectacular, though the team here is busy still putting my feet to the test making the game, it is playable and at britains biggest Christmas Show. Being played by gamers at the moment. This game goes out every three months. Were starting this week right but its, of course, it is very, in the middle of london, very early alpha so, and inside the landmark that to a degree, theyre having for generations has been notjust the exact same experience a source of beauty as somebody that would be working on a game as, but of power, too. Like, a qa guy or even as a developer. But this is a game which, the palace of westminster was first built in 1016, from its inception, has proved but until the 19th century, to be controversial. It looked very different. Since the original kickstarter campaign, its scale has dramatically a massive fire and a victorian increased, becoming a much bigger rebuild created the gothic spires game in the process. That have made the building famous. As the crowdfunding grew, so did the scope. What began as an ode to Wing Commander gradually grew into this giant persisting universe, and, you know, thats a very different product. But the building is falling apart. Crumbling plasterwork is riddled with asbestos and even in the chamber itself, the inner sanctum of british as a result of changes to the game, earlier this year, Roberts Space Industries, lawmaking, there are leaks. A subsidiary of Cloud Imperium, was taken to court by a backer the palace of westminster has been a unesco seeking a refund of almost a,500 World Heritage site since 1987, money hed spent backing the game. And in 2015, a joint committee determined that the longer essential works were put off, the higher the risk a california judge dismissed that the building could suffer the case without prejudice, a sudden catastrophic failure. Due to a clause in the star citizen end user license agreement which prevents anybody from taking Roberts Space Industries to court for a refund. The Games Company says it does issue refunds within a 30 day window. This brings us to the issue that seems to have generated the most headlines for star citizen. One of the most famous parts of the whole site caching is the elizabeth tower, money. Which contains big ben a bell, not a clock, as many think. 250 million sounds like a lot shutterbugs coming here on holiday of money, but when you think will have been disappointed the movie avatar cost for the past two years as the whole thing has been encased in scaffolding. Restoring it has been a colossaljob. 370 million to make, were going over the top of portcullis house and when we get to level 25 of the scaffolding, and most estimates put gta 5 costing which is about 50 metres up, 265 million to make, its not a crazy amount you go past the clock faces. Oh, my very word look at that of cash to put into a game. Its enormous how big is that . Reports in the press have appeared thats about just over suggesting micromanagement of eight metres in diameter. You can drive a double decker certain aspects of the games bus through it. Development has contributed to star that is the statistic. Citizens delays. We spoke to was it originally natural stone . Severalformer citizens delays. We spoke to several former employees and all spoke positively of their time making the game and although many yes, yeah, it was, exactly. Admit that they have been delays, the sheer size of the project seems to be the main reason for its and we found, as we were did a paint Lengthy Development time. From sunny Southern California analysis of the dial frame itself, to grey, wintry manchester. We went back through the colours and we found that this was the blue while development on the game continues, here in manchester, that was the original colour. And we carried out extensive citizencon which is a convention repairs, were about halfway dedicated entirely to the video game through those as well. So has it been is kicking off. A straightforward process . Did they leave instructions on how to fix this thing . No, obviously no instructions. I think the team that i feel particularly for are the clock mechanics who have taken apart the clock mechanism for the first citizencon is where fans and backers time in its history and now have to put it back together, of the game can meet each other, and there are an awful lot of pieces as well as the games that need to go back together. Development teams. One of the aspects of the game which has attracted a lot they are phenomenally talented of attention is the ships. Guys, so i have no doubt there are a plethora that they will do it of different ships in the game, and do it very well. Butjust behind the clock face big and small, that can be purchased with in game currency, lies the main event the enormous chunk of cast iron or backers can use real cash, im up here to see. Which Cloud Imperium says goes i guess thats it that is big ben. Towards further development. Rumours are rife of some backers he is enormous. Spending thousands on ships. The name is apt. The bell is 13 tons in weight, most of the people i meet at citizencon have more modest budgets. Which is phenomenal. How much money have i mean, you can feel you spent so far . Its only about 75 100. Probably invested about the thickness of it, actually. £250 into the game. Maybe like £60 or oh, i would love to. Something like that. You cant even appreciate looking theres always exceptions to the rule, though. At it from the outside. Yep, that definitely doesnt look friendly that is. 12 inches, maybe. Ive spent about 7,900 on the game. Maybe slightly more. That is an impressive bell. In the past, you have only been allowed up into the tower run by contacting your mp, 7,900 . 7,900 us dollars, yeah. And only if you are a uk resident. The powers that be have not yet now, we should say that decided if they will be relaxing you are a streamer. Iam. So this is yourjob those rules when it reopens. As they come up the top this is your living, isnt it . It is, yeah. Of the stairs, we do these crazy battles, the existing spiral stair, like 50 players going there will be a glass to war, sci fi battles. Box, and just above you will be like, thats what we do. The quarter bell, so it will be what the. 7 someday send the back up its here in the midst of citizencon a really interesting viewpoint and one that will probably scare a few people, actually. That i catch up with roberts. But then you can also see up to big ben which previously, applause. There was an old bridge structure which wasnt particularly impressive, so we replaced it. We last spoke in 2016 and star it kinda gives you that visibility citizen has been in development of big ben as you come to the top, since then. That long ago and it is it will be a real wow moment for the people who come still in development. Up the stairs. Whats going on . Well, i mean, were trying to build a universe at, like, a level of detail that no ones done before, restoration on the tower is set and so its taking, you know, to continue until 2021, longer than we were anticipating and the palace of westminster, when we first announced it. Years after that. But it has been such a privilege theres an awful lot of online negativity around star citizen. To come up here and see this up why do you think that is . Close and i cannot wait its easy to be an armchair quarterback or am armchair developer. People arent used or dont for the scaffolding to come down. Really know how much work goes into making these games. For all to be revealed i mean, theres been some, you know, and for everyone to get the chance stuff like Red Dead Redemption 2 to see it, t0o. Or but, you know, that was seven plus years. It takes time to build games of this but in the meantime, sophistication and simulation detail limited because of the houses that gamers expect now. Of parliament, back on the ground, are Still Available for visitors i mightjust have a gig that from around the world. I could use you for. So, whats new . The new Planet Technology we have, which is much, much, much higherfidelity. Weve been working on dynamic weather. You are walking outside, it is like now im heading 130 miles east, to norfolk. There is a slot on your visor and this part of the country is known for its beautiful countryside, there is a slot on your visor and the wind is pushing you around. And a network of waterways known the other really big as the norfolk broads. Thing that wee showing but as the winter chill draws on, the first time were going through a jump point, it is the tiny village of thursford, or a wormhole. Basically, as we carry on, well be which since 1977, has made christmas opening up more star systems. Next year, weve been promised the release of squadron a2, the Single Player campaign special for over 6 Million People. Aspect of the game. But for now, Development Continues on the main star citizen experience. It seems this games let the drums roll out. Journey is far from over. Let the trumpet call. That was star citizen marc. Now, christmas is nearly here, while the people shout. Which traditionally is the time when we all lay off the exercise strike up the band. And pile on the food. With 2000 not lara, though. Pompoms and 1. 5 million rhinestones, this is a show to remember shes not waiting until for the 110,000 people who come january to get fit. Here during the festive season. Shes getting on the case now, with a little help from a friend. Now in its a3rd year, this family run production was started as one mans vision. Right. Ive got my gym kit, its a journey to christmas eve, ive got my trainers. Basically, in music, song, and dance. Now its just time to meet the robot but through its popularity through the years, its had that ive an appointment with. To come forward. So now it starts on november 6. Hello it is basically a non stop extravaganza of music, yep, its putting me dance, and song. Through my paces on the treadmill. The idea here is that i am i had a friend in Kings College going to be trained by ai, cambridge who was one with a spot of help of the Kings College choral from pepper here. Scholars, which was a school this Bristol Robotics Lab trial aims for norfolk at the time. To teach a robot the empathy and just a00 500 people turned up. And motivational skill but it was just in the middle of this building here. So it started with one show, of a human personal trainer. Then went to two, then four, then eight, 10, 16, and so on. Ok, im not quite sure what its got in store for me. The show still takes place injohns think about getting converted farmyard barn. Ready to start running. Speed up now and run for one minute. And he begins preparing along with reacting to participants its Christmas Show injanuary. Heart rate data and facial expressions whilst they try to build this year, over 3,000 west end up to running 5k, it considers and broadway artists auditioned personality type in its quest to be part of the company to perfect its patter. Of over 120 performers. And, today, im going to bejoining that robot, to begin them for the big finale. With, knows nothing. And then don, ourfitness but first, a crash course instructor, he tells the robot, in real time, right, now its time to have a joke or now its time to sympathise in learning my steps. Or now its time to challenge. And every time he does that, claps to the front, the robot learns from that example. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. So after a few sessions, the robot hands, hands, bow, stand left foot. One, two, three, four, five. Then start suggesting things. And then make your way back out. The estimated speed of a t rex is 27 miles per hour. I cant go as fast as that i had to write what kind 0k. Of behaviours the ideal robotic cool thank you so much for teaching me. Personal trainer should have, i hope i dont cause any disruption later. Yet still keeping that as simplistic you were great as possible for the robot assist no worries. And coders to implement. Youll be great. What is it like for you to perform its quite unnerving in a show like this . When it leans forward. It is a little bit different, isnt it . Ifeel like im in trouble. Its very different. It is not like any other show. The key human aspects in psychology im one of the singers in the show. Go in to analysing what that client i did the show last year needs at a given time. And fell in love with it. So im back this year. Its just such a variety. Ten people took part in the trial, isnt it . Some totally at ease with the concept. Even as a singer, i do lots of Musical Theatre stuff, but this has lots of on the day of a session classical in there as well. I would be thinking ok, well peppers standing so its nice to get that kind of mixture. There, waiting for me. One thing that is incredible kind of the longer you do is we are celebrating christmas for two months every day. This, the kind of yeah you get used to it a lot more. You would think it would get a little tedious, but it doesnt. And probably if i was to run on the treadmill now, because every show, we have 1,a00 people watching id be wondering wheres the robot . They didnt just see it and they are all there to celebrate as a tool, as an object. Christmas and its just amazing it wasnt just a robot. To do shows every day, twice a day. Each of them developed i would say a relationship. Bagpipes skirl. Applause. They would talk to it in different ways. The bot could be trained by different people, giving it different and so, with backstage buzzing, personalities and styles. This afternoons christmas but the general idea is that the gym spectacular is about to start. Of the future could be ive been dreaming a very different place. Of christmastime. Nice work every day through the year. Well done for today thank you. I hope to see you again soon goodbye. Give me five. Oh, maybe not. Trees shine in every window. Ooh, denied that was lara and pepper, and thats it for this week. Children all dream of reindeer the full length version is available hoof prints in the snow. For you to watch right now on iplayer. Next week, its the click christmas special, which means tons of serious ive been longing journalism and sensible outfits. For christmastime. In the meantime, you can get in touch with us on social media on facebook, youtube, instagram and twitter at bbcclick. When hearts are warm thanks for watching and well see you at clickmas. 00 59 07,814 2147483052 06 18,622 to that. Thank you forjoining us. 2147483052 06 18,622 4294966103 13 29,430 milder but wait up for a lot of us. And filled with joy. Theres love for all to share. A5 gifts. This is suzy. My secret changing room she is going to help me get into my costume. The best time of the year. I have to go onstage now. Lets hope i remember my steps. Applause. Music plays. 0h ok, so i didnt fall over, i didnt forget the steps, and i didnt cause any kind of incidents. So as far as im concerned, job done. I must say, being up there, looking out at the audience, standing, clapping, enjoying themselves, everyone singing, it really was something a bit special. And i didnt fall over. Yes good morning, welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. Our headlines today. Following his election victory, the Prime Minister will visit the north of england to meet voters in traditional labour heartlands which turned blue for the first time. Borisjohnson rejects demands for another independence referendum in scotland, despite a massive surge in support for the snp in the general election. Journey times are being cut, more services and new routes added as part of major timetable changes on britains railways. And in sport christmas comes early for liverpool fans. A5 managerjurgen klopp signs a contract extension keeping him at the club until 202a. Its raining men, hallelujah and ahead of tonights strictly final well ask our very own magic mike bushell which couple he thinks will waltz off with the glitter ball trophy. Good morning. This weekend were looking at a blustery weekend, a weekend of sunshine and showers, but it will be cold enough at times to see some of those showers fall as snow particularly across Northern Hills. Ill have more on that coming up a little bit later on. Its saturday, 1ath december. Our top story. Borisjohnson will visit the north of england today after his party won a number of traditional labour heartland seats to secure a majority in parliament. Some areas voted conservative for the first time in thursdays election, helping to achieve the largest conservative victory for more than 30 years. There are flashing images in this report by our political correspondent, nick eardley. Back in downing street but with a Political Landscape that has changed completely. Borisjohnson will now lead a majority government, giving him the numbers to make brexit happen, and space to reshape domestic policy too. A message to voters. I say thank you for the trust you have placed in us and in me, and we will work round the clock to repay your trust and to deliver on your priorities with a parliament that works for you. And then i want to speak also to those who did not vote for us or for me and who wanted and perhaps still want to remain in the eu, and i want you to know that we, in this one nation conservative government, will never ignore your good and positive feelings of warmth and sympathy towards the other nations of europe. He won seats the tories have never ta ken before, some of them former labour heartlands and now he wants the country to move on. Reporter are you going to resign, mr corbyn . Labour, meanwhile, licks its wounds after a disastrous night, its worst election tally for 80 years. Some Wantjeremy Corbyn to go soon. He says he will quit, but not until the new year. The responsible thing to do is not to walk away from the whole thing, and i wont do that. I will stay here until there has been somebody elected to succeed me and then i will step down at that point. The lib dems have reflecting to do, too. They lost seats, including leaderjo swinson, replaced by the snps candidate in eastern dunbartonshire. The snp made big gains and Scottish Independence will climb back up the agenda. Last night, Boris Johnson told Nicola Sturgeon, in a phone call, that the last independence vote should be respected, but the Scottish First minister says she has a mandate from voters. Now, i acknowledge that not absolutely everybody who voted snp yesterday is ready to support independence. Whether or not scotland becomes an independent country must be a matter for the people who live here. So not everything will be plain sailing for Prime Ministerjohnson, but, with a big majority, he has a lot more power and a much bigger opportunity to govern as he wants. Nick eardley, bbc news, westminster. Now that borisjohnson has returned to number 10, what happens next . Well on tuesday, mp5 will return to westminster and begin the process of swearing in, where they take an oath of allegiance. The procedure will be rushed through in two days, to allow for a queens speech before christmas. The queen will formally open parliament on thursday the 19th, but with reduced ceremonial elements. The last state opening took place on october 1ath, ten days before borisjohnson called the general election. And the next significant day could well be friday the 20th of december, the conservatives have pledged to re introduce mrjohnsons Withdrawal Agreement bill thats the legislation to implement a brexit deal, in december as an early Christmas Present for voters. This could see mp5 sitting for the bill to be voted on. Lets get more detail on all of this now from our political correspondent, matt cole. Lets talk about today, Boris Johnson heading to the north and of course heading to the north and of course he spoke immediately after his victory saying that he was humbled by those people who had voted conservative who had possibly never done so before . Good morning, charlie. The conservatives now hold blyth valley, durham north west, sedgefield. That is tony blairs former seat. Labour Prime Minister former seat. Labour Prime Minister for all of those years. These former absolute read as red can be seats have now gone blue. Borisjohnson will be going to the north east today to say thank you, really, and acknowledge this astonishing victory. In his speech he said he was humbled by people giving him his vote, realising they may have lent it to him because of brexit but he will go there to stake his claim, may be to try and get their vote again in future. Can to me about a phone call that took place between Nicola Sturgeon and borisjohnson . Yesterday evening, remember the snp had a8 yesterday evening, remember the snp had 48 mp yesterday evening, remember the snp had a8 mp ball return. Nicola sturgeon, the snp leader, said this was the mandate they were looking for so that she can have a second Scottish Referendum on independence. Borisjohnson spoke to her on the phone last night and we understand he said no, not on my watch. Nicola sturgeon, though, disagree somewhat. She said no, she feels very much this election result has given her the mandate to press long and hard for that second vote. We will leave it there for the moment. Thank you. Donald trump has congratulated borisjohnson on his victory in the general election. The president S Administration has repeatedly spoken out in support of brexit and voiced enthusiasm for a free trade deal with the uk. I want to congratulate borisjohnson on a terrific victory. I think that might be a harbinger of whats to come in our country. It was last time. Hes a friend of mine. Its going to be a great thing for the United States also, because it means a lot of trade, tremendous amount of trade. They want to do business with us so badly. Two people have been arrested near downing street after scuffles broke out between police and protesters. Hundreds of people were demonstrating after the conservative election victory. One person was detained on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, another for suspected affray. Police in new zealand have resumed a Recovery Mission for one of the remaining victims of mondays volcanic eruption. Divers are searching in the sea off white island to retrieve a body, while another is still believed to be on land. 1a deaths have been confirmed and around 20 people are in intensive care with severe burns. Rail passengers are being urged to check their train times before they travel from tomorrow, as a new winter timetable comes into effect. The plan is thatjourney times will be cut, services increased and new routes added across the country, after infrastructure and carriage investment. Our Business Correspondent, katie prescott, has more. This is the nightmare scenario, when train timetables were changed in may last year, chaos ensued. Standing room only as passengers faced cancellations, delays and overcrowding. But if these timetable changes are a success, some parts of the uk will get faster and more frequent services. We get, quite rightly, complaints from passengers, saying the trains are packed, we need to have more services so we can find a seat. This is what were trying to do and this is our opportunity to do it, in the timetable changes. There are two every year, to get ready for the season. One to get ready for the summer and one to get ready for winter and this is where we put on those extra services. Sunday will see the biggest timetable change on the Great Western railway Network Since the 19705. The electrification of the line between london and bristol will shave 12 minutes off the quickest trains. The maesteg and conwy lines in wales will get sunday services for the first time. And there will be major improvements on the scott rail network, with Additional Trains in north east scotland as well as extra seats between edinburgh and glasgow. Passengers are advised to check before they travel as many train times are changing from tomorrow. Katie prescott, bbc news. If you are a big fan of strictly, tonight is a big night. Sir rod stewart has become the oldest male solo artist to have a number one album in the uk. Its in yourface, really shows your age his latest release, youre in my heart has climbed to the top spot after being released three weeks ago. At the age of 7a years and 11 months, he has taken the accolade from paul simon. The orchestral version of his greatest hits, with the royal philharmonic orchestra, is the veteran stars tenth chart topping album. That would have been the other quiz question i love watching that little clip, he is so relaxed. Sat down, tapping his leg. You interviewed him, didnt you . Hes very cool. He is in a happy place. Its a terrific accolade. And that voice it hasnt changed that much, he says it has changed that much, he says it has changed quite a lot but it still has that magic. Chris will have the weather for us and about four or five minutes. Christmas is a time when many of us enjoy a drink or two, but its also a time when, sadly, some people are tempted to then get behind the wheel of a car. So what would make you think twice about drink driving . This is eight year old ben peak, and his brother, arron, who was ten. They were killed by a driver who was twice the legal limit when he smashed into the back of their car in 2008. The boys parents have given Police Permission to use their image in pubs across the country, as part of an Awareness Campaign which also features this video. Detective Sergeant Scott riley from derbyshire constabulary joins us now. Good morning. That is powerful. Yes, it isa good morning. That is powerful. Yes, it is a really great campaign, isnt it. It gives you a stark reminder of what families go through when they are affected by drink driving. What families go through when they are affected by drinkdriving. Has it got to the point where we need Something Like this to get the message through . I remember in the 19805 there were a lot of campaigns, and people did change their attitudes and weve spoken a lot to people who have said they will take keys from friends to stop them driving home or get them a taxi but the message isnt getting through . No, it isnt. Iagree, it almost became socially unacceptable. You ta ke became socially unacceptable. You take keys from friends, working together to make sure you have plans and people were not drink driving but recently we have seen we have the highest rate for the last ten years where 250 people have been killed by drink drivers in one year. That is 250 families who will not be able to enjoy christmas because they have lost their loved ones. And office rs have lost their loved ones. And officers in derbyshire roads policing, we have to manage them and help them through that time. It is something that does not need to happen. We saw that image of ben and arron. When you look at that, it does stop you in your tracks, it stops you because you are thinking these two young were taken in an unavoidable situation . Yes, and we put the image out there, when you make that choice, it absolutely is a choice to drink drive. You could ta ke choice to drink drive. You could take these boys away from a family and prevent them from having a grown up life. And it isntjust the families of the victims. It is also your own family who will have to live with what you have done. Both families on each side will never re cover families on each side will never recover from this and the amount of direct families and the wider families and friends, it destroys so many lives. In your time in the police force, have you seen a change in the way that people think about this . Some people say that now you are down to almost a hard core of people who, whatever, think about drink driving. Is that your impression . Yes, if the last ten years with done fantastic work and got it down to the lowest level we have have done that we are seeing it creeping back up. I think it is because other things have taken over and people have forgotten about the actual real risks of drink driving. In custody last week, there were eight people in custody for drink driving. That is in one night. I find that incredible that people are still doing that. What happened in the case of ben and arron was that the driver had been to a wedding the night before and had only slept for two hours. This accident happened in the morning, before getting into his car. That is the other side of drink driving, isnt it . It is almost easier, in terms of education. You talk about the hardcore ones, the ones who go out and drink. To take those khakis. Its when people go and have a night out and they dont know how much alcohol is still in their system. You do not consider it as drink driving but feeling a bit rough after a heavy night. Drink driving but feeling a bit rough after a heavy nightlj drink driving but feeling a bit rough after a heavy night. I think again it is about working with your friends and people at work. If you are out at night, and you know that they are at an event first thing in they are at an event first thing in the morning, then we have to be questioning what planning they have done and why they are doing that. If you are out until two, three, or four in the morning but are at work at seven oreight, four in the morning but are at work at seven or eight, its never a cce pta ble at seven or eight, its Never Acceptable and you will always be over the drink driving limit. We will never stop checking. If we have a lawful power to check someone and we suspect they have been drinking, we suspect they have been drinking, we will breathalyse or drug test them, and we are finding a lot more people are failing, like you say, the morning after. Will you be working over christmas . The morning after. Will you be working over christmas7|j the morning after. Will you be working over christmas . I will be. Are you out on Christmas Day . Working over christmas . I will be. Are you out on Christmas Day7|j working over christmas . I will be. Are you out on Christmas Day . I am, in the morning and the two days before that. There will be a lot of work. The first week this week is the publicity campaign. We are trying to educate drivers and we are getting the message out there. We do not want people to drink and drive. And will you be out on patrol on Christmas Day . We absolutely will be. The week from the 19th leading to new years day we will be checking drink drivers to new years day we will be checking drink drive rs and to new years day we will be checking drink drivers and yes, i will be out personally on Christmas Day. Its interesting, the message is when you are sober, that is almost what sticks in your mind more than getting caught. Just being able to have those conversations. Than getting caught. Just being able to have those conversationsm than getting caught. Just being able to have those conversations. It is, yes. It is. When you are talking to people, people think it is socially acceptable to drink drive and it absolutely isnt. You are going to really affect peoples lives. Thank you, enjoy your christmas, albeit you will be working but thank you very much. |j hope you dont have to talk to too many people, lets hope the message is getting through. many people, lets hope the message is getting through. I hope so too. Thank you very much. Heres chris with a look at this mornings weather. A glorious state down in london. Blustery in salford, what is it like for the rest of the country . That pretty much sums it up about the weather, we have at the whole of the weather, we have at the whole of the weekend. It will be blustery but we start the day with skies like this, across Eastern England, that is where the best of the dry and sunny weather is first thing but we will all see blustery showers this weekend and as it turns colder, there is scope for snow across Northern Hills. Satellite pictures show an area of cloud working into wales and South West England. Here, the heaviest of downpours coming through right now. Dry fulsome time, but it will not last long. Northern ireland and the central belt will see frequent showers, merging together to give longer spells of rain. Time in Central Scotland and working into the argyll and bute area as well. Southwards then the showers move east, with blustery winds that will be gusty today, gusts of a0 50 miles an hour, possibly 6a the Channel Islands. Showers in england and wales do not last long, they are blown away. There is probably not going to be too much on the way of sunshine between those showers and across Northern Areas it will feel cold. Overnight, it turns colder. Colder air moving in. Showers turn to snow fulsome time. Some localised accumulations built in, across higher levels in the pennines, but these towns could be affected by snow. In Southern Uplands, snow working on here and around the argyll and bute area. For some, localised accumulations of snow overnight and some icy conditions first thing in the morning. For many, where those showers occur, they as rain. A colder night, temperatures close to freezing but those winds keeping temperatures above for most. In the second half of the weekend, low pressure is still with us. A similar day weather wise. Largely dry and sunny in Eastern England. Showers pushing eastwards through the day. Scotland and Northern Ireland see some showers but there will be some longer gaps between those showers in scotla nd longer gaps between those showers in scotland and Northern Ireland. More sunshine but another blustery day. Those winds will make it feel quite cool if you are out and about. Temperatures of three to 5 degrees. Fold in Northern Ireland and scotla nd fold in Northern Ireland and scotland but further south, temperatures are near normal for this time of year but the wind is not the edge off those temperature values. The week ahead, we start on a chilly note across those areas but in the week ahead, unsettled with rain but it does get milder towards the end of the week but it looks like it will stay unsettled with more rain on the way too. Thats the latest weather. Studio chris, thank you. We will see you later on. At this time of year, many of us think about the plight of people sleeping rough on the streets, but what about their pets . Well, the dogs trust says it will be giving out a Record Number of hampers this year, to help them through the cold winter months. The charity also wants more hostels and landlords to accept Homeless People and their dogs. Our reporter, john maguire, has more. She may look every inch the princess, but this time last year, layla the chihuahua didnt even have a roof over her head. She walks, shejust following me, following me. Wherever i go, she is coming. Her owner, mustafa, was homeless. After 27 years living in the uk, including running his own business, he found himself living and sleeping on the streets of north london. To be honest, i dont wish no one to live on the street, especially in the cold weather like december, january, you know . I found myself outside the church in leytonstone, in the cemetery, you know . With the dead people. Me and layla, you know, just keeping there, rough. Its very tough. I never, ever imagined one day this is going to be happening to me. Throughout his four months sleeping rough, mustafa and layla were inseparable. When im next to her, theres no problem. Wherever, if i take her to sleep in the street, if i take her in different houses, im with her, shes fine. But now, they do have a roof, they have a bedsit flat, warm, dry and safe. Mustafas staying in ymca accommodation, while waiting for a permanent home. Theyre lucky, as only 10 of shelters or accommodation for Homeless People allow pets. Its ok that we accept the dog, but when were then trying to move people on a lot of the accommodation theyre moving to is private rented sector. Landlords dont want to accept dogs, so theres another barrier at that end. So, any work we can do with the dogs trust to try and break down some of those barriers would be good as well. Layla, whats in here . Christmas has come early for layla, as today, the charity dogs trust is giving mustafa a hamper, one of the 1,750 theyll hand out this year, almost 300 more than last christmas, which, for many, can be a difficult time. Sometimes, if you do have people that might have been rough sleeping, they havent had much contact with friends or family, their dog can quite often have been there for them and been their friend and their support. Dogs can also be beneficial to Mental Health and can provide a point of contact for people who are often isolated from support services and are difficult to reach. This is all part of the trusts hope project, which also offers Veterinary Care all year round, a reminder then of the charitys seasonal message that a dog is for life and not just for christmas. John maguire, bbc news, london. One comfortable, happy dog. Thats what we like to see on breakfast. Lets have a look inside now and entertainment reporter caroline frost is here to tell us whats caught her eye. Good morning. You got it all sorted out there . Im trying to find nonpolitical stories good luck with that charlie was saying, how many pages in the telegraph . 21, 22 pages. You will start with that, wont you . Yes, a little bit, to doff cap. The telegraph is Boris Johnsons chosen platform, they do not have to go far. If anyone will get an exclusive it is them they are celebrating a new dawn, and you could probably have written the script yesterday about healing divides, bridging gaps, bringing the nation together. But what i do want to point out, this is proven across the papers is that it is all about personalities these days and what broke that wall was kennedy with his telegenic appearance against Richard Nixon but there was this with calling him boris, not Boris Johnson. Boris, boris, boris. We will hear a lot more of this in years to come. He is talking about changing the law, eyeing up ten more years at numberio. Changing the law, eyeing up ten more years at number 10. He changing the law, eyeing up ten more years at numberio. He has changing the law, eyeing up ten more years at number 10. He has a taste for it but all of the coverage is very personal. In most negative terms, jo swinson, we saw in the election campaign, a girly swot, head girl. It has continued and it is open season onjeremy head girl. It has continued and it is open season on Jeremy Corbyn. It is open season on Jeremy Corbyn. It is something that we are watching. I dont think the genie will go back in the bottle, i dont think people are looking at the small detail and the manaia ratio of the minutiae of policies. But they have to break through the red wall and the working class, their traditional class divides that this country still has. A story from the sun that you picked out. This is quite funny, isnt it7 out. This is quite funny, isnt it . They described paul hugh grant as the hex of the campaign because he went out campaigning for four candidates and each of them has lost their seat. The imagery there is of him with liberal democrat candidates in various locations. And. Yes. Love, actually was used by the tory campaign. It opens up the wider discussion, there is much hysteria, this is notjust in the daily mirror betting the sand as well. About the labour luvvies, lily allen had an honourable mention. It is about celebrities dipping their toe, the huge influential platforms into politics. Could they, should they . We have seen with hugh grants efforts that it can sometimes work against them. Who is someone like daniel craig to talk about the worries of remaining when he lives in new york . All of those things. It makes people think twice about flexing those celebrity muscles and campaigns to come and we were all waiting to hear from james corden, who has tweeted his thoughts, and if tom watson had been leader of the labour party then things could have been different. They could be wheeling out the spin machine in the years to come. Critics here that said, pipe down, we are sick of champagne socialists telling ordinary folk how to vote. That could be easily thrown around. Take us could be easily thrown around. Take us away from all of that, to a different world. The miss world competition . Yes, it is the 100th anniversary. It started 100 years ago, a tiny contest in france but since then it is massive. The numbers watching it across the world, 900 Million People will be watching the event. It is basically ignored in the uk now. watching the event. It is basically ignored in the uk now. I was going to say, is it on our screens . On some far off channel. To say, is it on our screens . On some faroff channel. It feels like it has gone full circle. Nobody used to question it. In the last couple of decades, people have questioned whether or not it should exist. Piers morgan is a judge, happily for him. He said he will be choosing the hottest beauty queen, because, quite, nobody wants an ugly winner. Piers morgan claims to speak for the silent majority. I think people do wa nt silent majority. I think people do want aesthetic but there are other criteria. She has to be an ambassador, a fundraiser, demonstrating skills in fashion, charity work, sport, and promote good causes in her homeland. Its not so much working with children and animals and wanting to travel. Its a bit more involved. Massively controversial. Last year, miss ukraine was binned off the throne because it turned out she was a secretly pregnant divorce. She is now suing them. It is quite indicative of changing attitudes towards women as well. We had the protests in 1970. Bob hope called them a cattle market. That was the cue them a cattle market. That was the cue for women to storm the stage. He was led away with julia morley, and. Is there a Miss Universe . That was trumps big thing a few years ago. I was working in australia and an australian lady one Miss Universe and she became a massive star in australia overnight. It created a phenomenon out of that and so it still has a bit of legs. A5 and so it still has a bit of legs. As it were you will be back later. Talking about strictly as well. We will be talking about it. 13 weeks, thats how long the competition has been going. Finally nearly over and the grand final is tonight. We will be looking at who will be dancing. We will be talking to our very own mike bushell about who he thinks will be lifting the trophy. Headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. Coming up before 9am, chris will have the weather for you. Also the sport. But, first at 8 31, a summary of this mornings main news. Borisjohnson will visit the north of england today where traditional labour supporters helped him achieve the largest conservative victory for more than 30 years. Some areas voted conservative for the first time in thursday 5 election. For labour, the inquest has already started after the partys worst performance since the 19305. Donald trump has congratulated borisjohnson on his victory in the general election. The president S Administration has repeatedly spoken out in support of brexit and voiced enthusiasm for a free trade deal with the uk. I want to congratulate borisjohnson ona i want to congratulate borisjohnson on a terrific victory, it might be a harbinger of what is to come in our country. It was, last time. He is a great friend of mine and it will be great friend of mine and it will be great for the United States because it isa great for the United States because it is a lot of trade, tremendous trade. They want to do business with us so badly. Police in new zealand have resumed a Recovery Mission for one of the remaining victims of mondays volcanic eruption. Divers are searching in the sea off white island to retrieve a body, while another is still believed to be on land. Fourteen deaths have been confirmed and around 20 people are in intensive care with severe burns. A new timetable comes into effect on britains railways tomorrow which its hoped will add 1,000 extra weekly services. Its aiming to cutjourney times, increase the frequency of some services and add new routes across the country following Infrastructure Investment and upgraded carriages. The industry body insists the changes will improve the current system. A 100 year old photograph of a famous fairy hoax has been sold for more than one thousand pounds at auction. Do you remember this, charlie . Do you know what, i do remember this. The picture was posed in 1917. I dont remember that . By elsie wright and her nine year old cousin Frances Griffiths in the village of cottingley in yorkshire. The faked images fooled many people at the time including Sherlock Holmes author sir arthur conan doyle. It wasnt until 1983 that frances confessed the photo was a hoax. Quite ingenious, actually. They used cardboard held in place by string and hairclips. Cardboard held in place by string and hair clips. These days, we would look at that and just go, obviously it is fake because we know cgi and how easy it is to fake images. But we had nothing like that, it was all still on film. And if you believe in fairies, why wouldnt that happen if you believe in fairies . You dont need to believe in fairies, we have established this. Good morning. You dont need to believe in them, it is just a fact. It is nice to believe in things. Do you believe in the sofa . In things. Do you believe in the sofa . I do, because i can sit on the sofa. And i believe in one man, Juergen Klopp. As do liverpool fans. Hes sticking around. An early christmas come true. We like our characters in sport and that is what he brings to the table alongside amazing achievement. As far as foot ball amazing achievement. As far as football is concerned, lots of managers we love to hate and he is one everyone loves to love. It is the smile and charisma. They are looking particularly strong. There was concern he wouldnt stick around too much longer. Last year they offered him a contract and he wasnt quite ready to commit but he has decided to commit. An early Christmas Present for liverpool fans. Signing up until 2024, Juergen Klopp. Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in 2015 and led liverpool to Champions League success last season. Liverpool have an eight point lead at the top of the premier league ahead of their lunchtime kick off against watford today. I think the club is in a good place and we have the chance still to develop. A lot of things, a lot of exciting things, coming up, obviously, with the new academy, with maybe a new stand and stuff like this, so its still a lot to come and, yeah, but there will be cloudy days as well and you have to be there, and make decisions and, yeah, i really feel very responsible for all the things here. And you might call this a coincidence, but liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has also signed a contract extension as rangers manager. As rangers manager. Thatll keep him in charge until you guessed it, 2024, the same year as klopp. Maybe a bit of succession planning there . Who knows gerrard had originally signed a four year deal when he was appointed in may 2018 but has been rewarded for recent success, qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages. Manchester united play everton tomorrow with united looking for a fourth successive win. In which united will name a home grown player as part of their squad a stat which dates back to 1937. Marcus rashford is one of their current home grown stars having come through the clubs academy. My mum didnt know much about football, we obviously supported man united. The final decision came down to which club do you love and want to play for . And then, once i went to united, it was perfect. It was everything you wish for as a kid. People say that, once you play for man united, youre always a red and for me thats true. A former united man now. Wayne rooney says he cant wait to step on the pitch as a player for derby county. The former england captain has joined the championship side as a player coach and has already been in the dug out, but cant line up alongside his new team mates until the 2nd of january. I didnt have long off at the end of my season in the states, so reallyjust been topping up and keeping meself ticking over to be ready and, as you said, if the game was tomorrow, i would be able to play. Hull city came from behind twice to earn a 2 2 draw at charlton in the championship. The tigers fought till the end, with Keane Lewis Potter scoring in the 96th minute to deny charlton a victory that would have ended a run of nine league games without a win. Freddie lundberg is in care take a charge. They beat west ham and steadied the ship a bit. I am not sure he will be the manager although he wanted to be. Ancelotti is available after he left a job he was currently at in italy. This is a snippet of a chat we had with ljungberg all things arsenal. How would you sum up the past fortnight . Theres a lot of things to do and try to get done and watch a lot of videos and get a game plans. It feels like i havent seen my family for two weeks but thats what this club needs and thats what im going to do. I want us to be backin im going to do. I want us to be back in the days when we win trophies. You cant just back in the days when we win trophies. You cantjust turn that around overnight. Thats a Long Term Plan that we want to get back there. But, of course, thats what i believe, as a fan, as an old player, thats where the club should be. He fully understands the club, freddie lundberg, but i am not sure he will be the permanent manager. Looking for a club record. We will talk to the two jamess. Double james. I sparkly nails i didnt say gordy your face said it very nice. I will let you borrow it. It is 8 45am. After the conservatives election victory, it looks clear the uk will be leaving the eu on the 31st of january. A5 consumers and travellers, many of our rights come from europe. So how will they change in just a few weeks time . Paul lewis of radio as money box has been looking into this and we can speak to him now. A5 as you always do. This is very pertinent right now, straight after the general election and people thinking if they have a trip planned in spring or whatever, what sort of message can you give them by way of reassurance . Well, the first thing to say, charlie, yes, we will definitely leave europe on the 3ist of january but dont definitely leave europe on the 3ist ofjanuary but dont panic. Because we are living in an orderly way, with an agreement, assuming it all goes through which is 99. 9 certain. Assuming we leave in an orderly way, that will be followed by a transition period. Certainly, up to the end of 2020, possibly a bit longer. Scheduled at the moment for the end of 2020. In that transition period, although we are not in the european union, we will be treated as if we are. All of the things we are used to, travelling without visas, driving. Flying from one country to another, compensation for flight country to another, compensation for flight delays, your Health Insurance card, your ehic, that should carry on as now. If you have a spring, easter, Summer Holiday booked in europe, dont worry, things will be just the same, even though we wont be in europe. Give us more detail. Lots of people will be thinking a lot of rights in relation to travel, flights and things like that, they are tied in with european legislation. Well, they are. Flight delays as the big one. If you are more than three hours delayed, you can get quite substantial damages from the airline. That is set by european law, it is a european directive. On the 3ist ofjanuary, a very strange thing will happen. 4 million pages, 4 million pages, of european law will suddenly become uk law. All those laws we rely on, including the flight delay directive will become our law. Ultimately, of course, that means it can be changed by the uk government. At the moment, it cant. But that shouldnt happen during that transition period. Im glad you mentioned flight delay compensation because that is the one im most worried about. The airlines have always hated it and we will see massive lobbying to weaken that law. At the moment, it is in place and it will be in place for the whole of next year and hopefully it wont be changed too much in the future. European law becomes uk law on the sist european law becomes uk law on the 3ist of january, or at european law becomes uk law on the 3ist ofjanuary, or at the end of the day and everything will stay the same until the uk government changes it. Presumably, with your research, you have read those a million pages, picked out a few bits for us, have you . I always do my research i know you . I always do my research i know you do. But i havent read all of them, couldnt even pretend. I dont even know a lawyer who has read all of them. At the european flight directive is the most important, some Consumer Rights but most are already in uk law. But uk law that we have is controlled by europe, because we cant weaken it to make it worse than european law. We will be free to do that. If a future government wanted to weaken our Consumer Rights about returning goods when we have ordered them online, bad weather they are fit for their purpose, that could be weaken. Im not saying it will be, i dont think it will be, certainly not in the near future. Employment rights could be weakened to be below european standards. The government would say our laws are probably a bit stronger than europe, why would we do that . There will be a period of uncertainty. They will be in charge of our own laws, we wont have to look to europe but it will be an interesting time to see what the government does. The main message, all of 2020, dont panic, things should be exactly the same. In 2021, we may start to see some changes, depending on the British Government negotiates over the 11 months until the end of 2020 because we might leave europe onjanuary the sist we might leave europe onjanuary the 3ist but believe me, the negotiations are long way from being over. Thank you very much, as always. Sometimes when you talk to politicians, they say i have the 700 page document here, he has the a million page document just page document here, he has the a million page documentjust under the desk lovely to see you. Money box at midday today. Thats his bedtime reading. I know. And the thing is, it would be. The message is dont panic. It is 8 50am. I dont think you need to panic about the weather either. Chris will tell us about that. Good morning. We are looking at showers working in through the day, a blustery day but some will get a nice sunrise, this was the scene in kent a few moments ago. Today will be blustery. Sunshine and showers. But as it turns colder, we could see snow for a time on some of the hills in the north of the uk. Low pressure is to the west of the uk, steering in the showers and the heaviest at the moment working across wales and South West England and hefty downpours. Further east, largely dry and a sunny start to the day. Northern ireland and Central Scotland seem frequent showers tending to merge to give a lengthy spell of rain. Particularly unsettled through the day. England and wales, the showers will push east. We will all get a downpour or two at some point but at least there will be some sunshine between the showers across england and wales. It will stay blustery and the strongest winds running through the English Channel and affecting the Channel Islands, 50 to 60 miles an hour. Cold for Northern England, Northern Ireland and scotland with temperatures below par for these areas at this time of year. Cold overnight, some of those showers will transition to snow. The areas most at risk of seeing snow will be across some of the higher parts. North wales, the pennines, the cumbrian fells and Northern Ireland, the very highest hills could get a bit. Southern uplands of scotland and argyll and bute could see a bit of snow. Not out of the question we will see a few centimetres building up will see a few centimetres building up across higher areas otherwise cold rain will fall from the showers. Temperatures overnight just about above freezing on account of the strong winds but where we see snow at higher elevations, things could turn a bit slippery and icy. Sunday, low pressure still firmly in charge and a day of sunshine and showers. Similar day across england and wales with the showers across Western Areas and pushing east through the morning. Most areas will see a downpour or two. Scotland and Northern Ireland i suspect will have more sunshine between those showers but another blustery day with top gusts of around 40 or 50 miles an hour around our coasts and hills. Staying cold for Northern England, Northern Ireland and scotland and further south, the temperatures closer to normal for this time of year at around 8 or 9 for cardiff and london. The week ahead, a chilly start with showers on monday. The week ahead, there is a trend for the weather to turn milder but rain at times. By friday, most areas will see temperatures pushing into double figures. Milder weather but this weekend could be cold enough for snow on higher Northern Hills. Back to you. Chris, thanks. It is 8 53am. Its one of the biggest nights in the showbiz calendar yes the strictly come dancing final is on tonight. Theres sure to be some special performances and, of course, lots of sequins and glitter. After 13 weeks, celebrities and their partners will dance for the last time in an attempt to win the famous glitterball trophy. They have danced their socks off. Our correspondent lizo mzimba has spoken to the remaining three couples. After 13 weeks, three couples are left, all hoping to be crowned strictly champions. Each pair will have three routines their favourite dance from the series, a judges pick, and a show dance. So, how are they feeling ahead of tonight . Ecstatic. Overwhelmed. Honoured. Kelvin and otis pick will be their rumba. Kelvin, of course, was a late entry after another contestant dropped out because of injury. It feels, you know, as crazy as it sounds, really. I dont think you could have written that scenario. I wasnt in the original line up, like you say, and to be here, 12, 13 weeks later, going into the final, is, um. Yeah, its been incredible. And for their favourite dance, theyve chosen their samba. The judges have decided their pick for emma and anton will be their charleston. Emma says shes happy to still be in the contest, after a less than successful rumba in week seven. Its unbelievable, because i thought after rumba week that we were definitely going home, because we were bottom of the leaderboard. So its absolutely. Itsa dream. Im the biggest stritcly come dancing fan, and to actually say that ive made the final, i actually still cant believe it. And for their favourite dance, theyve gone for their viennese waltz. Karim and amysjudges pick will be their quickstep. Karim says theyve just been taking things one week at a time. Yeah, i mean, its very, very exciting. We had no expectations. We just go out every weekend to try and enjoy ourselves and put on the best performance as possible and now to think that were in the finals, not only humbling but also a little bit surreal. Itsjust crazy, isnt it . And for their favourite dance, theyve chosen theirjive. The result will be chosen purely by public vote, so its everyone watching who will decide who finally gets to lift the glitter ball trophy. Lizo mzimba, bbc news. Have a look at this. There is our man. As far as i know, mike doesnt know yet that we are actually watching him doing this. Shall we say hello . Mike . Oh is that charlie charlie, naga im Just Practising my kickball changes, because. Its no exaggeration, hold on a second, we should just say that we have been watching these images of mike in his back garden for a few minutes and he has been doing that for quite a long time. Genuinely you have you have been doing that. When you get on strictly, it started in august when i was dancing around with a garden gnome. Yes. I never thought by this stage in december i would have the stamina to do continuous kickball changes and swivels from the charleston. But once you are strictlyfied, you need to keep the rhythm, keep the moves, keep your stamina because you take part in the final group dance. But even if it is the final group dance, the spotlight isntjust on you the final group dance, the spotlight isnt just on you and your partner, there is still pressure not to embarrass yourself and get it right. I have been trying to keep in shape. I have been trying to keep in shape. I have put a bit of weight back on since i was eliminated in week eight but it feels like the last day of school, last day of term. Exciting and emotional. Its like when you ta ke and emotional. Its like when you take your games and emotional. Its like when you take yourgames in and emotional. Its like when you take your games in address in how you like. Dress up. Take your games in address in how you like. Dress up. Dont forget, youve got the party as well that is really good fun trust me indeed is it . Yes. We need hints from me about who you think will edge it tonight, three couples, three dances each. I know they are all your friends, but you three dances each. I know they are all yourfriends, but you have followed who has really captured the viewers heart. Honestly, i have been thinking about it constantly. I was speaking to them yesterday. They are all calm and confident but not over confident. In a confidence. I have loved them all dearly. I have known karim for years at bbc in sa lfo rd. Known karim for years at bbc in salford. Emma is a dear friend and kelvin and his wife and my wife had become such good friends. We will keep that in touch. Put that aside, analyse the form and the judges, their decision doesnt come into it. It is all about the public vote. I have been speaking to so many people, the public, everyone has an opinion. These are the various factors. Kelvin, ithink, he is the dancer that has come the furthest in terms of the journey. A bit like denmark and the european championships, almost via the back door at the last minute in 1992 and they won it. He has a massive following, he has the hips and the upper body physique, he is very popular and that could carry him all the way to the title. Emma, fantastic dancer, and you have the anton factor he has been in the seriously whole time since the beginning, 17 years ago and he has never won it, never had a chance. He is in his mid 505 like me but a lot better dance mike, canjust is in his mid 505 like me but a lot better dance mike, can just ask, how stretchy is the stretchy shed . How stretchy is it . Very stretchy it has to be. Stretchy shirt. This is one of the few i got to keep. I had to do the samba for Jimmy Carterand noel keep. I had to do the samba for jimmy carter and noel fielding. That is on boxing day but i got to keep this. Karim fantastic dancer, 18 tens. I think kelvin is the favoured but there is the anton factor. Lots of people want anton to win. Mike, you know what its like nine seconds until 9am. We got to doe, we need to cut to the top sorry weve got to go. Keep dancing good swivel headlines coming up injust a moment. Good morning, welcome to breakfast with Charlie Stayt and naga munchetty. Boris johnson will visit the north of england today . After his party won a number of traditional labour heartland seats to secure a majority in parliament. Some areas voted conservative for the first time in thursday 5 election, helping to achieve the largest conservative victory for more than 30 years. Now that borisjohnson has returned to number ten, what happens next . Yes, indeed, heading north to visit those areas that had voted conservative for the first time. Seats like don valley, durham north west, blyth valley and even sedgefield, tony blairs old seat of sedgefield, tony blairs old seat of sedgefield is now blue in colour, no longer the lifelong red labour seats that they were. Boris johnson, mindful in his speech yesterday at downing street that perhaps some people had voted for him for the first time, perhaps the only time, lending their vote because of brexit. He will say thank you. To shore up support. Before heading back down for mp5 returning to parliament. The conservatives will be buoyed, 365 mp5 ready to do Boris Johnsons bidding, but for labour, they will be sore and disappointed, and looking for a new leader. Matt coles, thank you. Lets go back to the general election and our coverage this morning. The small mining town of leigh in Greater Manchester has been a traditional labour heartland for nearly a decade, but on thursday night it turned from red to blue. In a night that saw political allegiances switch across the country, the town elected its first ever conservative mp. James grundy said hed expected to lose with dignity, but are his constituents as shocked as he was . Brea kfasts Jayne Mccubbin is there for us this morning. Good morning good morning. We have come out with the coffee cart. If you remember right back, we started on the campaign trail, up in the north east in bishop auckland. Today, the morning after the day before, we are in leigh. Something seismic has happened in both of those places and in many places across the country where the red vote has gone blow. We have been trying to find out why that happened and how people felt looking forward. If you want to see how the blue wave crashed through the red wall, come here to leigh market and chat to people like john. Im the son of a miner. My dad was called a tunnel rat. Thats what he did. He helped put up steels in ttunnel. People would say he would turn in his grave voting tory, but im so glad i voted forjames grundy lets give them a chance. Lets give grundy a chance. The norths political map, perhaps political soul, changed yesterday with 2a constituencies voting tory for the first time in decades. When the result was announced, it was electric and then some. It was completely unexpected. Let me see your tongue youve gone all blue james says he ditched labour because they cant be trusted on the economy. And youre excited . A little, yes. It sounds weird, but yes. A year ago, no one would have thought this was possible. These constituents have had a labour mp since 1922. My names anne. Almost as long as annes family veg stall has been here and until yesterday, the town had never had a tory mp. There is no law. What does that expression mean . What does that expression mean, anne . She is reluctantly supportive, not of the new government, but of the chance to cut through the parliamentary deadlock. I didnt actually vote to leave, but the choice was made, thats it, end of story, choice is made, get on with it and make the best of what weve got. Simple as. Im just fed up of it. And all of this is so significant, so extraordinary, it has brought an italian news crew to leigh market, to film an italian deli in a minute interview, the new mp. Its quite a surprise, isnt it . Youre mp for leigh on italian tv yes, i think that sentence would perhaps come up in a sweepstake of the least likely things to be said to me because no one here is more surprised by james grundys success thanjames grundy. Have you learned anything . This is an interesting question. I learned that tiny communities far away from the big cities can think in a different way. Waiting in karens hairdressers, david says he started to think differently when his party stopped listening. I think labour have been very complacent in areas like this. For me, they were given a clear message at the beginning, that we wanted out. And, because theyve been messing around, weve again now given another clear message. We dont like corbyn and its that one person whos ruined it. We need to kick corbyn out, and then well be all right. But make no mistake, labour is farfrom dead here. How are you feeling about whats ahead, sofina . Sofina moved to leigh three years ago from dudley, where she was a labour councillor. But she agrees with Boris Johnson in two regards. Many labour votes here have simply been gifted to him on loan. And now is the time for healing. We can all live together regardless of our political aspirations. I really pray and hope that borisjohnson does live up to his promises because i know Jeremy Corbyn definitely would. Were joined in the studio now by the labour mp for Manchester Central lucy powell. Dame margaret hodge, the labour mp for barking, is in our london newsroom. Good morning, and congratulations for retaining your seat. Lucy, i remember speaking to john mcdonnell, no, notjohn mcdonnell, another labour politician a short while ago and we were looking at the polls to or three days ahead, and i said, looking at these numbers, this is really painful. There was so much optimism ahead of the election and to say labour got a drubbing is probably an understatement. What is the mood light . What is filtering down to you about what is next and how painful this was . It is an incredibly painful loss. Everyone is gutted and on the floor. I think people havent processed it fully yet. Party members, you go right to the wire with an election campaign, you are out every night, and really tired by it all. That happens and it is crushing. It is like a punch in the stomach. People are just coming to terms with that but it is a devastating blow. Even more so because it is so many of our heartland seats. These are places that have voted for labour for a long time. That feels really quite profound. Dame margaret hodge, good to speak to you this morning. Im wondering, your leaderJeremy Corbyn, he has said it is a time for reflection. He remains your party leader. What i reflections as you speak to us this morning . My reflections are that i partly agree with what lucy has said that i have moved from a depression and a real sorrow at losing a lot of very good friends and also the hard work that so many labour activists have 13. Ive moved to a feeling of anger. This is an election that we should have won. My reflection goes beyond what Jeremy Corbyn, the team around him and the whole strategy for him, this strategy delivered. They are now trying to say its all about brexit and undoubtably brexit and our fudge on that was an issue but to pretend that is simply wrong. For me, it was jeremys to pretend that is simply wrong. For me, it wasjeremys own leadership that i met time and time on the doorstep, and like lucy i have been right around the country. It was the economics we offered that was flinging it around like confetti, offering people free broadband. Of course they like it but they did not believe that we could pay for it. It was a feeling that they could not trustjeremy it. It was a feeling that they could not trust Jeremy Corbyn with national security, and i also think that they now see us as a nasty party. That comes from things like the anti semitism, of which i was a victim. Can i ask you to look forward , victim. Can i ask you to look forward, in terms of what should be happening right now. Your criticism ofJeremy Corbyn is obvious and youve made a plane. Youve made it plain. I do not think we can have the proper and deep reflection that we both agree about, under the leadership under a person who thinks the programme is all right and he worked really hard and the only thing that was wrong was that the media did not like him and that the brexit message was wrong. He devised the brexit message. That is part of his leadership. We need a completely fresh team at the top. We need to undertake that really important review of how we reconnect and build trust with labour voters. That is who lucy and i are there to represent. The heart of the labour party is about representing the people who need us most. Weve lost that connection and trust. If we are to do it again, that needs a new team at the top leading the debate and the thinking. Lucy, do you agree . To some extent. We are good colleagues, but i worry about us embarking straightaway on an internal conversation, a leadership contest without having collectively reconciled ourselves to some of the m essa g es reconciled ourselves to some of the messages from this election. We are already seeing a factional debate about why was it that we lost. Some people want to wholly blame brexit and others want to blamejeremy. It is all of those things and much more. Our Party Membership, every single one of us was a party member oran mp. Single one of us was a party member or an mp. There is no doubt in your mind thatJeremy Corbyn needs to go . And there he has said he is going. But when . Or is there an attitude in the labour party, that we have five yea rs the labour party, that we have five years to fix ourselves. We do have five years before we face the electorate. Hes not talking about early in the new year but it is an irreleva nt early in the new year but it is an irrelevant point to me. I want us to collectively come to terms with why we lost that election. Otherwise Party Members will come to their own view. Mp5 will come to their own view. Mp5 will come to their own view often based on what they wanted their answer to be in the first place. We will not choose the right make then we choose the right leader coming forward. And hearing those voices from leigh, one lady said it was that one person, Jeremy Corbyn, that has ruined it. What was going on, in amongst corbyn and those around him, were they putting their hands over their areas . That message seemed to be coming through pretty clearly when you spoke to people and labour mp5 on the doorstep. Where people, including him, trying to close that out as though it was not a problem . Why was it allowed to get to that point . We we re it allowed to get to that point . We were asked along the way, we were sent surveys from labour hq, but i think all of these things are synonymous. Thats the point. Places like hyndburn, leigh, they have had those trends therefore a long time. They were a catalyst. Jeremy came in and was a catalyst there as well. Underlying trends have been there for a long time. Even in 2017, we saw big swings away from labour. Weve lost what my collections in a row now and brexit itself should have been a warning sign that we should have heeded. Many communities in the north and the midlands differ in how the party voted and we have to come to terms with that. Our membership is middle class, the membership is middle class, the membership of our party is very focused in the cities and in london. They say they do not reflect that . Weve also got be honest with ourselves. Many mp5 in the labour party wa nt ourselves. Many mp5 in the Labour Party Want to push us into a remain position. We can all learn and reflect from this campaign. Margaret hodge, one name that you think can unite and bring labourforward as hodge, one name that you think can unite and bring labour forward as a leader. I just unite and bring labour forward as a leader. Ijust want unite and bring labour forward as a leader. I just want to say that im all for a debate and having a Leadership Debate is one way that you bring it out into the open rather than fixing. As leader, i do not have a name that what i do want isido not have a name that what i do want is i do think if labour cannot elect a woman as a leader, this time, we are not being true to our values and our ethics. We do have some great candidates but i think if we think now that all we need to do is change the personality at the top then Everything Else will flow, it will not happen. Its been the biggest mistake of all. Nobody is thinking, of course it is not a matter of who is the individual at the top. I have to draw to your attention that we come at the end of this parliament and we will have elected only one leader who has won four labour and that would have been tony blair. What i do think is that if you have a contest, that brings out all of the issues, it is an argument about policies, direction, and where we need to go. I do not want that fixed behind closed doors but out in the open. The other thing is, behind closed doors but out in the open. The otherthing is, i do behind closed doors but out in the open. The other thing is, i do not think the real debate about what we nt think the real debate about what went wrong and what we have to do can be led by the current leadership. I do not think that period of reflection can be led by somebody who cannot say he is sorry and does not understand how he got things wrong. Thank you to both of you for coming in this morning. Heres chris with a look at this mornings weather. Hes got it all, good morning i do. Thank you. Good morning to you. This weekend we are looking at blustery conditions and windy conditions. Temperatures between three and 5 degrees. In the week ahead, it is unsettled. Things turn milder towards the end of the week. U nsettled milder towards the end of the week. Unsettled with rain at times. Thats the latest weather. Thanks very much. Lets have a look at the inside pages of the papers with the entertainment reporter caroline frost who is here to tell us whats caught her eye. We were slightly caught short. The truth is that there was some scrambled egg being eaten. Nobody saw that it will just go scrambled egg being eaten. Nobody saw that it willjust go down here. If in doubt, keep talking keep smiling sorry, sorry where will you start . Staying away from politics, clearly you have had hours and hours mike was with us minutes ago. It is the strictly come dancing final tonight. The opportunity for the media to revisit the delights of anton du bekes partners and chequered history. Iwent anton du bekes partners and chequered history. I went pony trekking in brecon and they said, we have the pony for you. He is the safe pony, put with a slightly challenging partner or nervous person. He reached the final in 2004 with lesley garrett, we should not forget that but the years have been marked by his generosity and patience with his partner but this year the bridesmaid may become the bride. He is in the final with emma barton. Not on technicality but the audience mayjust barton. Not on technicality but the audience may just want barton. Not on technicality but the audience mayjust want this man to win and lift that. Apparently the glitter ball has fallen apart in the previous couple of days but people are working hard and it will be lifted. This will delight some people, or upset them. Beethovens unfinished tenth symphony has been finished. It is one of those elusive great works from history. We know that they are celebrating beethovens 250th birth anniversary next year and one of the great thing is to mark the occasion will be that they have fed all of his unfinished works, his previous works, draft sketches and composers who influenced him and a computer has come out with the elusive tenth symphony. As you say, many people will think this is true art, you cannot create genius from a machine. Art is forever changing and developing. It is exciting because it is as close as we can get to the great mans works in any new form but it had been supported by people who look after his archive and it is orchestrated by human beings, it is not a completely robotic exercise but as you say, it is quite a divisive topic. Work done on the benefits of animals, taking pets into ca re benefits of animals, taking pets into care homes and hospitals, we have seen it before. Tell us about this. It is another step in the ongoing process of prison reform. This could prove divisive and its about taking dogs in. Warders and staff are being invited in northamptonshire to take their dogs to work. It is an experiment. So far it has been very positive and proven to reduce stress levels of staff and prisoners which can only be a good thing7 prisoners which can only be a good thing . I know of lots of companies which allow this. It is really calming in the workplace. The question is whether inmates should be allowed to benefit. People say its more example like examples of holiday camp mentality that it was divisive in how people thought about prison reform. I think this is about prison reform. I think this is a good thing. And the selfcleaning kitchen top. People call it Antimicrobial Resistance . The idea is that they can coat any surface, particularly in hospitals and public spacesin particularly in hospitals and public spaces in this where germs and bacteria bounce off, but where does it bounce to7 bacteria bounce off, but where does it bounce to . In theory that can only be a good thing for these shared places where germfree environments are crucial. Its a fair point, it has to go somewhere. A drop of blood will bounce off when it lands on the surface, it doesnt say where to. The floor . They you go, something to worry about and it is good for food packaging, because it could stop transfer of e. Coli bacteria . I think that this could be very beneficial. We had this conversation last week about touching. With Ronnie Osullivan fist pumping. A lot of celebrities do that because they meet so many people. Do you do that . No. It isnt really working its lovely to talk to you. Lets hope surfaces are clea n to you. Lets hope surfaces are clean when matt tebbutt takes over in saturday kitchen. Donald trump has congratulated borisjohnson on his victory in the general election. The president S Administration has repeatedly spoken out in support of brexit and voiced enthusiasm for a free trade deal with the uk. Hes a great friend of mine and it will be great for the United States because it means a lot of trade, tremendous trade. They want to do business with us so badly. Police in new zealand have resumed a Recovery Mission for one of the remaining victims of mondays volcanic eruption. A new timetable comes into effect on britains railways tomorrow, which its hoped will add 1,000 extra weekly services. Its aiming to cutjourney times, increase the frequency of some services and add new routes across the country following Infrastructure Investment and upgraded carriages. The industry body insists the changes will improve the current system. We are making changes where we can to make things better and will need to make things better and will need to fix things for the future and many travellers will want to hear that as well. 9 34am. A 100 year old photograph of a famous fairy hoax has been sold for more than £1,000 at auction. The picture was posed in 1917 by elsie wright and her nine year old cousin Frances Griffiths in the village of cottingley in yorkshire. The faked images fooled many people at the time, including Sherlock Holmes author sir arthur conan doyle. It wasnt until 1983 that frances confessed the photo was a hoax, and the girls had used cardboard held in place by string and hairclips. Its a lovely picture, isnt it . It is more fun to think about that. With the fairies . Thats what people prefer. Thats why people believe it, they want to believe it. A bit of mystery and magic does nobody any harm. You will talk to us about a character in football staying in place. Thats right. He has a beard and often wears a red suit. Making christmas dreams come true for liverpool fans. It is Juergen Klopp. He has extended his contract. Itll keep him at the club until 2024. He wasnt ready to extend his contract last year when they offered it. In the Champions League, and second in the premier League Last Year and this year are unbeaten in the premier league. Lots of people wishing he might stay in place and they have got their wish. 2024. Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in 2015 and led liverpool to Champions League success last season. Liverpool have an eight point lead at the top of the premier league ahead of their lunchtime kick off against watford today. Half past 12. Thatll keep him in charge until, you guessed it, 2024 the same year as klopp. Maybe a bit of succession planning there . It might be a coincidence. Gerrard had originally signed a four year deal when he was appointed in may 2018 but has been rewarded for recent success, qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages. Manchester united play everton tomorrow with united looking for a fourth successive win. Itll also be the 4,000th consecutive game in will name a home grown player as part of their squad a stat which dates back to 1937. Ulster maintained their 100 record in the european champions cup pool stage by beating harlequins for the second week in a row. Last weekend there wasjust a point in it, but last night the Northern Irish side thrashed quins by 34 10 at the stoop. Scrum halfjohn cooney ran in two of the five tries in the bonus point victory. But hes failed to successfully defend the title on his two previous occasions. There was an upset in the quarterfinals of snookers Scottish Open where world number one judd trump was knocked out by david gilbert. The world number 12 won by five frames to two in glasgow. Hell now face mark selby who beat Ronnie Osullivan 5 4 in his quarter final. In his quarterfinal. Defending champion mark allen is also through after beating scott donaldson. Tomorrow, well find out the winner of this years bbc Sports Personality of the year but we already know the winner of this years hellen rollanson award which recognises Outstanding Achievement in the face of adversity. Scottish rugby legend doddie weir has been named this years winner. And with good reason. Weir was also awarded an obe this year for his services to rugby, mnd and the borders community. Well, this years spoty is in aberdeen, a fair old trek from cardiff, which is where former wales rugby star Gareth Thomas is cycling from. Hes making the 500 mile journey for sports relief. And to encourage him in the final stages thomas was given a special gift from blue peters lindsay russell. Its sweaty. Oh, my gosh for being such a good singer, and such a good cyclist and such a good guy. Yeah come on and dont forget, sally will be with gareth tomorrow morning on breakfast as he and his team enter the final leg of their sports relief challenge and head into aberdeen. I cant wait to see how he is at that point. And you dont have to be in aberdeen to enjoy tomorrow nights show. If gareth is fuelling up as we speak at 9 a1am for the next leg, we wish him well. Absolutely. Rather you than me, gareth enjoy the rest of the day. It is 9 a2am. At this time of year, many of us think about the plight of people sleeping rough, but what about their pets . Well, the dogs trust is giving out hampers to help homeless canines get through the cold winter months. Breakfasts john maguire has been finding out more. Throughout his four months sleeping rough, mustapha and layla were inseparable. When im next to her, theres no problem. Wherever, if i take her to sleep in the street, if i take her in different houses, im with her, shes fine. But now, they do have a roof, they have a bedsit flat, warm, dry and safe. Mustaphas staying in ymca accommodation, while waiting for a permanent home. Christmas has come early for layla, as today, the charity dogs trust is giving mustapha a hamper, one of the 1,750 theyll hand out this year, almost 300 more than last christmas, which, for many, can be a difficult time. That is one very happy dog. Very cute pooch. It is 9 45am. Chris will have the weather in about 15 minutes. This makes me feel like a real underachievement good morning. This is sara britcliffe, newly elected, 2a. Youngest . I thought i was until this morning. There is a labourmp was until this morning. There is a labour mp who was until this morning. There is a labourmp who is was until this morning. There is a labour mp who is 23 years old. The baby of the house until last night. Congratulations, how do you feel . Happy and honoured to be able to represent my constituency. I have done that as a local councillor so to do it ona done that as a local councillor so to do it on a wider scale it is brilliant. Lots of people will be thinking excellent that there are younger people who are interested in politics. More than interested. You will be in parliament. Its a very important role. And at the same time, some people thinking how is it that someone of your age would want to be or has chosen that path, tell us about you. When i became a local councillor, i noticed i was able to help people. On a smaller scale. But i want to do that on a larger scale. I had to prove myself as a local councillor because people questioned my age. I had that on the doorstep andl my age. I had that on the doorstep and i proved myself as a counsellor. How did you do that . Just working ha rd how did you do that . Just working hard for the residents. It is a lot of listening to the people that contact of listening to the people that co nta ct you of listening to the people that contact you and making sure you get the work done or exhausted every avenue, whether you can or cant do it, exhausted every avenue. You were saying about the doorstep, how does that work in practice question among people saying you are young trying to be an mp, how do you respond . How did that go . Luckily, because i was a local councillor, i was known in the area. So that it did help. I have a social media presence, i put all my work on social media. Ijust had to say it was a fresh set of eyes. There was a lot of talk about younger people voting. Do you think that you are closer to their age than most of the mp5 and that that made a difference getting them to vote . Made a difference getting them to vote . Yes. Somebody relatable. Or to engage, whether they voted for you or not. Sometimes people feel they cant relate to the people in westminster and a lot of the younger people knew that they could already speak to me. I went to school in the area, i know a lot of people in that area. Iwas area, i know a lot of people in that area. I was relatable. And they know i work for them. Next week is very important in british politics, theres a lot happening. The timetable is packed. Apart from the Decision Making that will happen, you have presumably got logistics to sort out. Yes. Give us a sense of that. Im setting off tomorrow afternoon and monday morning, we will be there from 8am. We will be their. Have you thought seriously about that, that he will be going into the houses of parliament as an mp . This weekend everything has changed since thursday night. I understand that every new mp will be feeling the exact same as i am at the moment. Its very much a whirlwind of whats going to happen next week. But we have received information of what we will be doing and where we need to be. At 8am on monday morning i will be there. How will this change your life realistically . It is very much going to change my life and i do recognise that. But i know it is what i want to do. I want to make a difference for where i live. Where is the support for you coming from . My friends and family have been amazing. The likes of nigel evans has helped me throughout my campaign and being very supportive, which i needed. You will be very well aware that you alluded to at a moment ago, people feeling that they are sort of related from politics. Theres a lot of people thinking that way. Sort of people thinking that way. Sort of alienated. If you were to try to encourage people not to feel that way, ina encourage people not to feel that way, in a nonparty political sense, because this goes across the board, lots of people say they are fed up with politics and mp5 and fed up with politics and mp5 and fed up with that thing. What do you say, as we go into what is a new parliament . What is your feeling about that . think we have seen a lot more interest, actually, during this election. I think brexit has brought a lot of new faces to politics and i think its important that we push the message that this is your future in our hands. And to change that, you have to be involved in it. I have seen that with the younger people in hyndburn, they do want a say on their future and it is very important. You are in for a very interesting week next week are lovely to see you. Thank you very much. Sara britcliffe, conservative mp for hyndburn. Chris has all the details, no matter what you are doing. How is the big picture . If the weather was a full english breakfast, you would have a bit of everything weather wise. A mixture of sunshine and showers this weekend although a nice start to the day. Weve got some blustery winds around and as colderair some blustery winds around and as colder air works some blustery winds around and as colderairworks in, we some blustery winds around and as colder air works in, we will see some of the showers turn to snow. A bit of everything this weekend. On the satellite picture, quite a bit of cloud showing up, particularly the central belt of scotland with showers clumping together to give some long spells of rain through Central Scotland, quite a miserable day. Northern ireland will see ple nty of day. Northern ireland will see plenty of showers and those showers in england and wales moving east. Interspersed by brighter skies and a bit of sunshine. It will stay blustery and very windy with the strongest winds working through the English Channel and gusts could reach 50 or 60 miles an hour in the Channel Islands. It will be blustery and feeling cold across the north of the uk with temperatures struggling, 4 the uk with temperatures struggling, aor5 the uk with temperatures struggling, 4 or 5 degrees, further south close to normal but still on the cool side given the strength of the winds. Overnight tonight, as colder air works its way in, snow on high ground. Across north wales the pennines and cambrian fells, scottish hills, the Southern Uplands and argyll and bute, we could see some limited accumulations of snow, a few centimetres building in, in a few places. Icy conditions high up. Lower down, most of those showers will fall as rain. Cold air around overnight tonight. Low single figures but frost kept at bay on account of the brisk winds that continue to blow. Sundays forecast and another blow each day with low pressure in charge and the winds coming from south west. Bringing showers initially across wales and South West England and moving those showers through the day across the midlands across eastern areas. Scotland and Northern Ireland, ple nty of scotland and Northern Ireland, plenty of showers through the morning but overall, tomorrow, a better chance of seeing a bit of sunshine between those downpours. It will be windy again with top gusts of around 40 to 50 miles an hour. Across the northern half of the uk, temperatures below normal for this time of year. Highs of around 3 5 celsius and further south 8 or nine celsius and further south 8 or nine celsius which is normal for this time of year. This next week is cool across Northern Areas particular but across Northern Areas particular but a change next week with a bit of rain around particularly in the second half of the week but with south westerly winds blowing in, it will start to turn miles later with temperatures pushing back widely into double figures. Rain at times best sums up the week ahead. Plenty of showers this weekend, blustery conditions and hill snow overnight tonight for some. That is the latest weather. Chris, i know you dont like to leave any stone unturned. Of course, charlie asked you that dreaded question early and he promised he would have an answer. We have waited for the last time we talk to you this morning to give you time to come up with an accurate 100 guarantee of what the weather will be like on Christmas Day. Low pressure is to the north of the uk, fairly confident. West, south westerly winds and probably it will be mild. Temperatures a degree or two above average but things could change, it is a way off. That is my latest stab. Your latest gas . Yes. It is scientific your latest guess. Enjoy the rest of your day. It is 9 53am. When you think about fashion you might think about something flashy and flamboyant. Its not really a word you associate with modesty. But modest fashion is a booming industry. Its all about covering up your body in a way which is still stylish and modern. Its popular with young muslim women, and two Young Designers are cashing in on the market through social media, with clients all over the world. A5 nazia mogra reports. Two Young Fashion designers, one goal bringing modest fashion to our streets. This is one of our new pieces and its got 60 metres of net on this address. Wow, thats a lot of net this is still modest as well, isnt it . Yes, i would say this is still modest. A lot of my modest clients would still wear it, but its sheer here at the top. Some people wouldnt feel comfortable in it, but for a lot of my clients, they still would. Sana zinga launched her Womens Clothing brand, valenci, four years ago. I actually started in my grandads attic. I turned it into a little sewing room. I would make one piece every day and then post it and then sell it over on instagram and thats literally how it started. We launch a ready to wear collection once a year. The website usually crashes, thats how busy it gets. We dress sara iftekhar, who is the first punjabi to take part in miss england. Three, two, one cheering. And, today, after years of hard work, the grand opening of her glamorous boutique in preston. Previously, modesty was just like, you know, baggy, oversized things. Not very stylish. But i think the way sana has implemented her own style into her fashion is great. Youve got someone that you can rely on, that can cater for whatever you need and fill that gap thats in the market. Its runway, everyone can wear it. Modest fashion isnt muslim fashion, its for everyone. A few miles down the road and we arrive here, in bolton, at saleha bagass studio. That was nazia mogra reporting. Were nowjoined by one of the designers saleha bagas. What made you realise there was a market for this . When i was shopping for myself, i realised that everything was lower cut lines, higher hemlines and going into design, i thought i can do this and bring it into more modest way and thatis bring it into more modest way and that is what i did. Looking at some of the images we saw a moment ago, modest doesnt feel like the appropriate and at all because the outfits we saw look absolutely beautiful and very stylish. Yes. How does the modest thing for it with that . Modesty is basically people who want to cover up and still be stylish. Its not basically. It is for everyone, notjust stylish. Its not basically. It is for everyone, not just for people who want to always be covered or traditional gear. It is for people who want to still look fabulous and still be covered. The freedom of covering up. What im wearing today. You are very modest, i would wear that. Thank you. But i didnt feel like i had to go to a special designer, i can. Didnt feel like i had to go to a special designer, ican. I didnt feel like i had to go to a special designer, i can. I have been up and down the high street and have bought things that cover me up andi have bought things that cover me up and i dont feel i need to. I am missing out on that opportunity. For somebody else, they would not be able to wear what you are wearing. For somebody else, they wouldnt be comfortable. Why . Ifi for somebody else, they wouldnt be comfortable. Why . If i was to wear that outfit, i would probably wear something long over the top, may be a dikamona or a long jacket. So were not just a dikamona or a long jacket. So were notjust talking about covering flesh. May be a kimono. Covering certain shapes as well . Modesty is different for everybody. For somebody it might be covering flesh and somebody it is covering a figure and somebody from sleeveless to sleeves, short sleeves to long sleeves, it depends on who it is. And you have found there is a big demand . Yes. I have had a lot of muslim clients and i am muslim myself. But i have had jewish clients, i have had people who are just really conscious about their figures. I have had. It is for everyone. For example, nike have launched a swimwear range. It could be for people who dont want to get sun damage because it is covering skin. Thank you very much. There is a market for everything. Thank you. Thats all from us here on breakfast today, but ben and rachel will be back tomorrow from six. Sally will be riding with Gareth Thomas. Lots to watch. Goodbye.
