As well. The following week such hot a nkles as well. The following week such hot ankles down. Next week cooler. Lovely community and a mixture of sunshine and showers, the showers mostly affecting the north and west of the uk. Hello, this is bbc news. Well be taking a look at tomorrow mornings papers in a moment. First the headlines amid accusations that he is avoiding media scrutiny, borisjohnson speaks exclusively to the bbc, insisting he can deliver brexit by the end of october. Politics has changed so much since 29 march, and i think on both sides of the channel, theres a really different understanding of what is needed. President trump imposes new sanctions against iran, as tensions continue to rise between the two countries. A man is sentenced to life in prison for pushing one man onto the tracks of the London Underground and trying to do the same to another. Senior facebook executive sir nick clegg says the company should play a mature role in advocating, rather than shunning, regulation. Welcome to our look ahead at what the papers will be bringing us tomorrow morning. With me are henry zeffman, Political Correspondent for the times, and rowena mason, deputy Political Editor for the guardian. Many of tomorrows front pages are already in. Keep calm and carrie on is the front page of the metro. It shows a picture of borisjohnson and his girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, apparently happy together after their row last week. The paper cites sources that play down suggestions the picture was staged. The daily mirror believes the picture was staged, and says pressure is mounting on boris to come clean about the argument. The Daily Telegraph also has the same picture, but quotes laura kuennsbergs exclusive interview with mrjohnson. He says it is not right that his loved ones be dragged into politics, and that he had a right to privacy. The guardian claims boris is planning a media blitz with a number of closely managed public appearances, after being branded a bottler byjeremy hunt after he failed to agree to take part in a head to head debate on sky tomorrow. The times says this fightback from boris will attempt to highlight his campaigning credentials and reassure tory activists of his suitability to lead their party. And the express leaps to the defence of borisjohnson, quoting an interview from the eurosceptic mp jacob rees mogg, who blames a left wing hate mob for trying to derail his campaign to be prime minster. The daily mail also has that picture of borisjohnson and Carrie Symonds on its front page, as well as a story that claims harry and meghan have spent nearly £2. 5 million of public money renovating their windsor home. And the sun has the same story, which says that the final bill could be closer to £3 million. It quotes officials which says a substantial overhaul was needed to the property. Lets start with the main interview which we had, with Laura Kuenssberg, that interview is picked up in the Daily Telegraph. Lets begin with that, because he is basically saying that, because he is basically saying that he will get a new deal by the end of october. Thats right, its against everything the eu has been saying, the eu says it doesnt want to renegotiate theresa mays withdrawal agreement. Borisjohnson claims theresa mays agreement is dead and he wants a totally new deal negotiated with the eu by 31 0ctober. There seem to be a lot of problems with that, because the timetable is incredibly tight. There isa timetable is incredibly tight. There is a lot of scepticism about whether brussels will be willing to negotiate in time and if not whether he is willing to go for a no deal brexit, and he claims parliament might vote that through even though it has been made clear by the majority of mps that they would not wa nt to majority of mps that they would not want to countenance that. And he said there were abundant technical fixes for the Northern Ireland border, and he quotes other people that we have heard on that side of the argument quoting for months without any progress at all. We have been around this track before. The government sparked its own support of the backstop, for theresa may, which was cited as a negotiating triumph, what are called technological solutions. Supporters of borisjohnson would say the government hasnt tried hard enough, it hasnt shown the eu it is serious enough about pushing for those solutions. But certainly there would bea solutions. But certainly there would be a lot of people in brussels watching that interview, and i think basically rolling their eyes and saying not all this again. We have been around this track, we have told usually tory brexiteers that all of these things arent possible. And if thatis these things arent possible. And if that is true, he says so be it, no deal. And people will realise there has to be an exit, there is a new mood of confidence and optimism. Laura asked him where his evidence was for that and he didnt reply. He seemed to be suggesting the new mood of confidence is because he, Boris Johnson, would be prime minister. And that is not in evidence because of the newspapers tomorrow morning. Daily telegraph is his paper, and its headline is more sceptical than you might imagine. In the photo underneath the caption, the picture paints 1000 words but raises many more questions. It is very interesting because borisjohnson is a columnist for the Daily Telegraph, he is paid very handsomely to write for them every monday and the paper has generally been incredibly pro his campaign, but this is a fairly bold acknowledgement from them that his campaign is in trouble as a result partly of a Guardian Newspaper story which showed that borisjohnson newspaper story which showed that Boris Johnson and his newspaper story which showed that borisjohnson and his partner, Carrie Symonds, had had a late night iow Carrie Symonds, had had a late night row to which the police were called asa row to which the police were called as a result of neighbours hearing loud screaming from her. And their headline, boris tries to keep the show on the road, saying that he is kind of losing momentum, and he has also come under fire for bottling media appearances, and they pick out a line in the Laura Kuenssberg interview in which he says that it is not right for him to comment on this row because it is exposing his loved ones unfairly to the spotlight, but then at the same time we have got this picture that has emerged mysteriously of him and his partner in a sussex garden, which shows their relationship apparently back on track. But that is. The Daily Telegraph is pointing out the sort of double standards that he is calling for previously and at the same time this picture of them in a very intimate situation appears to have emerged from his side. And the telegraph itself talks about it being clumsy pr attempt possibly driven by the current girlfriend rather than boriss official Campaign Team. If this was intended to close down the story it has utterly failed, it has given it new wind. What is very striking is that, as you say, borisjohnsons Campaign Team are saying we have no idea where this has come from, we dont know how it has ended up in the public domain. It is slightly mysterious, it turned up early this morning on the daily mail website without credit. And their headline is boris in mills and boon scene which takes us all for fools. It is clearly staged, it is hard to. We dont completely know that, no one has admitted that. But it is hard to understand how a photographer could have gotten that close. There are souices have gotten that close. There are sources in all newspapers suggesting it is staged, and the Daily Telegraph makes the interesting point juxtaposing telegraph makes the interesting pointjuxtaposing the telegraph makes the interesting point juxtaposing the suggestion this photo is staged with Boris Johnsons claims, not least in the interview with the bbc tonight, that he has the right to keep his loved oiies he has the right to keep his loved ones out of this. And they say there are questions over whether he is trying to have it both ways. If anyone did see them, it is easy to see how that could get into the public domain. It is a possibility. The circumstances of it, it is hard to see how somebody could have got that close to them without them knowing and if the oddness of it appearing on the mail on line the way it did, that is what it would suggest that it is a staged photograph. While Boris Johnson it would suggest that it is a staged photograph. While borisjohnson was made campaign say they did not know anything about it. Boris johnsons campaign. Your paper, the guardian, a picture ofjeremy hunt on the front pageant the guardian has a list of other events that borisjohnson is has a list of other events that Boris Johnson is going has a list of other events that borisjohnson is going to do but they are not all open to the media and not challenging and scrutinising. Boris johnson is trying to counter this accusation that he is being a coward. He has done this interview, with the bbc, he has faced questions from the conservatives with jeremy he has faced questions from the conservatives withjeremy hunt, but hes not up this opportunity to do a debate. Which is supposed to be tomorrow. Is doing a debate later on in the process. Some of the events happening tomorrow, like a walkabout and an event at a Horticultural Society and a tea party, they are not sort of a big open invitations to the media. The type he is to do when he was on the leave campaign. He is to talk to busload of journalists leave campaign. He is to talk to busload ofjournalists then. He is a strategy is still very much to keep him ona strategy is still very much to keep him on a tight leash. They do not wa nt him on a tight leash. They do not want him going off piste. They know he is ahead with the conservative membership and they want to make sure he does not erode that lead by saying anything unexpected. There is a bit of an inconsistency. Mps would have told me that absolutely it would be borisjohnson and they have told me that absolutely it would be Boris Johnson and they have changed their minds because they are so changed their minds because they are so scared of jeremy changed their minds because they are so scared ofJeremy Corbyn and nigel farage and he has this sort of unique, curial charisma. He could just turn up in a labour voting area and people would mob him and tell him,| and people would mob him and tell him, lam and people would mob him and tell him, i am voting for you, boris. And the borisjohnson of him, i am voting for you, boris. And the Boris Johnson of the two him, i am voting for you, boris. And the borisjohnson of the two london merrill victory but he has simultaneously have conservative mps saying i am backing boris because of the election winning appeal but he is also keeping himself closeted away, showing more self discipline and it is hard to know which one, if he becomes prime minister, which seems very likely, is going to be in office. And the argument that you end up with a general election if he forces through a no deal. And then you end up withJeremy Corbyn. In the interview, it was interesting that he said, i do not want to exit without a deal and yet we have to use it as a freight. Some liberal members have tweeted, we can hear you. Everyone can hear you and what is the point of making an empty threat. He is making very inconsistent promises. He said he wa nts to inconsistent promises. He said he wants to get a deal through but, at the same time, he is telling other conservative mps. Would they let that deadline slip . No, they are trying to hold his feet to the fire. 0ne trying to hold his feet to the fire. One of the problems is that he is up againstjeremy hunt and they very much do not want tojeremy hunt to be prime minister. They will do to borisjohnson be prime minister. They will do to Boris Johnson what they be prime minister. They will do to borisjohnson what they did to theresa may, pushing him further and further towards a hard brexit. One more thing we heard in the last half hour, laura asked him about his language and that he seemed to enjoy offending people. Referring to muslims as letterboxes et cetera. He said that people deserve to hear whats going on in my head. That was an interesting line. It was and it is certainly something that he probably rightly thinks will appeal to conservative members. Theresa may very much people do not know what is going on in her head. She is a very close politician. She is particularly sort of official and businesslike. But if it is offensive language going on in his head and offensive ways of talking about people . I actually think the problem is people dont know what is going on in his head. He is much looser with his language than theresa may but he is also more inconsistent, for example with brexit. Pretty offensive was he is about gay people in the past in his telegraph, but he was one of the first conservatives to campaign for equal marriage and it was just fundamentally difficult to know what kind of politician he is. He says he isa kind of politician he is. He says he is a one nation politician now but some of the hardest right supporting him in this campaign so i do not think people know what is going on in his head, regardless of the language he uses. He says he likes being politically incorrect and i think he thinks that is what will appeal to the conservative membership. Someone who is plain speaking. The independent has gone down to the nub in a way in what many people think we are going to head. Johnson told no deal will topple tory government. Elwood doing an interview today. Is that definitely going to happen . Will they letJeremy Corbyn into number 10 that which is was no deal or Jeremy Corbyn . Some are saying they could not stomach staying as a conservative mp if borisjohnson was to ta ke conservative mp if borisjohnson was to take the country into an ideal brexit. It could fall to two of three if the party loses the by election so you need quite a small number of them to make a stand to make a difference and a lot of them could bottle it at the last minute. I think a few of them would wa nt minute. I think a few of them would want him to have a chance to see if you could get a deal through. Want him to have a chance to see if you could get a deal through. How long will he be given . Everybody is on holiday in august, the European Commission is changing. On holiday in august, the European Commission is changing. Ij on holiday in august, the European Commission is changing. I think labour will try as soon as presumably Boris Johnson becomes a minister in late july to go for a no confidence vote. They are much less likely to succeed them. Conservative mps will say, give him the summerand see conservative mps will say, give him the summer and see what his brexit plans really. Otherwise there would be an election in the middle of august. It has never happened before. I think tory mps, even the most remain would say let him go to paris and see Emmanuel Macron and go to germany and talk to angela merkel, talk to the new European Council of you in september but it is worth stressing how few sitting days there are left. They come back in september but shortly afterwards, they go for three weeks of Party Conferences so the opportunities for mps to exercise these levers are pretty minimal and they will have to get it absolutely right otherwise even mps determined to stop a no deal brexit may not be able to do so. No deal brexit may not be able to do so. What was your sense, do you think you will try to extend or go for a no deal accident if you cannot get that through i would definitely into an election . I think he would prefer an extension to be forced upon him by parliament and that is not a position of strength for a new prime minister. What he does not wa nt prime minister. What he does not want is to make that decision to extend himself because he has made this promise to hardline sceptics, that he is prepared to go for a no deal but if there is a mechanism to stop that happening, mps will take it. Im just stop that happening, mps will take it. Imjust going stop that happening, mps will take it. Im just going to very mention one other story. Theres lots of other stories but we have been focusing on brexit. In the sun, harrys £2. 11 million home makeover 01 harrys £2. 11 million home makeover orfunded by harrys £2. 11 million home makeover or funded by taxpayers. Harrys £2. 11 million home makeover orfunded by taxpayers. Is harrys £2. 11 million home makeover or funded by taxpayers. Is this an unfair hit . I do not necessarily. I think there is an interested question posed implicitly which is what on earth do we do with minor royals and i know the use of the word minor. He is the grandson of the queen but harry occupies a certain place in a lot of british peoples hard. He was third in line that he is already six in line. By the time george and charlotte and louis have kids, Prince Andrew was second in line when he was born but fiow second in line when he was born but now most people would say he is pretty irrelevant. I think the monarchy has not quite answer the question of what we do with all these people who are quite close to becoming king or queen when they are born but by the time they are in their 30s born but by the time they are in their30s and further. Born but by the time they are in their 30s and further. They are just living on the taxpayer and in the case of harry. It could be an anti meghan hit. Thats it for the papers tonight. Dont forget you can see the front pages of the papers online on the bbc news website. Its all there for you, 7 days a week. And if you miss the programme any evening you can watch it later on bbc iplayer. Thank you henry and rowena. Goodbye. Good evening. This is your latest sports news. Bangladesh batted first after being put in, and made 262 7, with Mushfiqur Rahim top scoring with 83. Afghanistan were always struggling to keep up with the required run rate, and were eventually bowled out for 200. Bangladesh are fifth in the table, just a point behind fourth place england, who play australia tomorrow. Australias cricket captain, aaron finch, has said that the two players banned for tampering with the ball against south africa last year will be unaffected by any booing from english fans when the two sides meet in the world cup tomorrow. David warner and steve smith both served a year ban for their actions, but both, especially warner, have been in good form in the tournament so far. Many in the game have discouraged booing, but englands captain, eoin morgan, said it is not his place to tell the crowd how they should feel. You dont know how sport fans are going to react. I think they are entitled to have their view. Just because punishment was handed out and two guys served the punishment does not mean they will be accepted back into the Cricket Community straightaway, with open arms. It will take time.
