ESCANABA –Bay College Training and Development will offer a 24-hour training program for new miners and an eight-hour refresher program in partnership with the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
The three-day new miner training covers safety and health hazards, employee rights and responsibilities, and job-related safety procedures. The eight-hour refresher training will be on the third day of the new miner training and covers the annual training requirements for owners and operators.
The new miner training will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8, 9 and 10, with the refresher training on the final day. The session is limited to 15 participants, so pre-registration is required. All participants must have an email address, computer with a camera/microphone and sufficient internet to stream videos. Bay College will provide a computer lab for those unable to meet the technology requirements.
