Bay offers 24-hour new miner virtual training | News, Sports, Jobs

Mar 9, 2021 ESCANABA Bay College Training and Development will be offering a 24-Hour New Miner Training in partnership with the Mine Safety and Health Administration and Michigan Technological University. The three-day “New Miner” training covers all aspects of the initial training requirements for owners and operators under 30 CFR Part 48 & 46. The objective is to train new and inexperienced miners on safety and health hazards, employee rights and responsibilities, and job-related safety procedures. This training satisfies the MSHA class room requirement; however, companies training under Part 46 must have an approved training plan. The MSHA 24-Hour New Miner training will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 30, 31, and April 1. All participants must have an email address, computer with a camera/microphone and sufficient internet to stream videos. Cost of the 24-Hour New Miner training is $189.

Bay College West Campus offering dental assistant program | News, Sports, Jobs

Feb 19, 2021 ESCANABA Bay College West Campus, in collaboration with the John Fornetti Dental Center, is offering a nine-week Dental Assistant Program from March 29 to May 27. This 80-hour program consists of lectures every Monday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. CT at Bay College West and clinicals every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. CT at the John Fornetti Dental Center. The cost is $2,500 per person and all individuals must register by March 10. This is currently the only Dental Assistant Program in Upper Michigan, organizers said. Upon completion, participants will receive a Michigan Dental Assistant Radiography Certificate, CPR/First Aid/AED certification, and a Certificate of Completion in Dental Assisting.

Feb 13, 2021 IRON MOUNTAIN Bay College West Campus will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant training course in Iron Mountain starting Monday, May 3. This program consists of 120 hours, including a mixture of classroom lecture, laboratory and clinical training from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from May 3 through May 27. The course is $1,175, plus the cost of scrubs and a textbook. The three-day new miner training covers safety and health hazards, employee rights and responsibilities, and job-related safety procedures. The eight-hour refresher training will be on the third day of the new miner training and covers the annual training requirements for owners and operators. The new miner training will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8, 9 and 10, with the refresher training on the final day. The session is limited to 15 participants, so pre-registration is required. All participants must have an email address, computer with a camera/microphone and sufficient internet to stream videos. Bay College will provide a computer lab for those unable to meet the technology requirements.
