Phillipston cannabis retailer takes a step forward

PHILLIPSTON — Members of the Selectboard voted last Wednesday to report to the state’s Cannabis Control Commission that the proposed retail marijuana establishment to be located at 420 State Road/Route 2A is in compliance with all of Phillipston’s bylaws and ordinances. Had the board responded negatively, the CCC would have denied a provisional license to entrepreneur Damon Schmidt, the businessman working to open cannabis operation.
The approval, however, did not come until the concerns of some board members had been allayed.
“My question is,” board Chair John Telepciak queried, “where does the commercial site plan from you come in on this?”
