Noida/Ghaziabad: While the vaccination drives to inoculate frontline workers have already been conducted in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad twice, the number of those interested in getting the shot doesn’t seem to be improving much.
On Thursday, 2,518 (43.8%) of the 5,626 registered frontline workers in Noida got vaccinated. Last Friday, the city had achieved a 56.3% turnout. In Ghaziabad, this percentage slumped too. Against a target of 3,439, 1,559 people, or 45%, were vaccinated. The turnout last Friday was 55%.
Health officials in both the districts said concerns over the vaccine and the three-page-long consent form, apart from a medical evaluation booklet that needs to be filled over 28 days after getting the shot, may be acting as deterrents and could discourage people from turning up for inoculation. At the same time, they added, awareness drives have been conducted and frontline workers have been sensitised towards the need to get vaccinated.
