The McKinney City Council on Monday appointed Angela Richardson-Woods to fill the District 1 seat left vacant after November’s recall of La’Shadion Shemwell.
Richardson-Woods is the first Black woman to serve on the McKinney City Council and will hold the position until elections in May.
A board member of the McKinney Community Development Corp., according to a biography on the city’s website, she has more than 25 years of experience in rural community development working as a community program specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
