Ahead of tur harvest, Govt announces procurement scheme
Maharashtra has been given a target of 2.89 lakh tonne (lt) of tur procurement, which would be undertaken by the various marketing agencies of the state government and the Maha Farmers Produce Company (FPC) - the apex body of FPCs in the state.

Considerably before the actual arrival of tur, ex-mill prices of the commodity in the growing hubs of Latur and Akola have gone below the government-notified Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 6,000 per quintal.
Concerned about the constant fluctuation in the wholesale prices of tur, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) has decided to begin the government procurement of the pulse soon.
