Indepth interviews with leading newsmakers, plus discussions with Americas preeminent political minds. Havent read the Washington Post story, part of that is that donald trump has become enamored of the new Talking Point from his tv lawyer Rudy Giuliani that collusion is not a crime so they have gone from no collusion, no collusion, no collusion to collusion isnt a crime and give us more about whats reported about his mood and raging. He privately has been raging about whats happening vrnl hes upset about the News Coverage, about why isnt he getting more credit for what he views as the good works hes done and as the post reported on friday on the front page, 4,229 lies in the first six month of the this year alone. The reason hes not getting the favorable News Coverage is because the
A recap of the days news. I dont know where the evidence is that would suggest that. The fact is that thats what they used against conor lamb in the special election in Western Pennsylvania which trump won by 20 points and conor lamb won. They used it over and over again with Danny Oconnor in ohio 12 who, by the way, is still running in november against mr. Balderson and danny managed to collapse the trump margin from 11 down to less than 1 . Im not sure where the evidence that that is the case, that that is an effective appeal. Its certainly their standard playbook move in eeach and ever instance. Again, to be redundant and repeat myself, they want to hear about what theyre going to do to lower Prescription Drug prices and protect people with preexisting conditions. Build infrastructure that will move this economy strongly throughout the rest of the 21st century. Finally get americans a raise. These are the things they want us talking and proposing. Known. This election marks the Largest Senate gains for a president s party in a first Midterm Election since at least president kennedys in 1962. There have been only four Midterm Elections since 1934 in which a president s party has gained even a single senate seat. As of now we picked up, it looks like, three, could be four, perhaps it could be two. But we picked up a lot. And most likely the number will be three. You people probably know that better than i do at this point because youve looked at the more recent numbers. 55 is the largest number of republican senators in the last 100 years. In the last 80 years a sitting president s party has only gained a cumulative total of
eight senate seats, averaging one per decade. So if we picked up two, three or four, thats a big percentage of that number, so in the lastle last 80 years you think of that. In president s Midterm Election he lost six senate seats including in the deep blue state of massachusetts. Republicans captured at least
More americans are fighting just to hold on to what weve got because if incomes are growing, its not as fast as the cost of Prescription Drugs and saving for retirement, housing and education. And thats when the numbers on a page are looking good. Now that were starting to see a downturn coming out of the manufacturing sector, it just demonstrates how out of touch the president is and how destructive his policies have been. Hes managed to hang on, tack on an extra couple years to the obama recovery. That might be good news, but now were in a very precarious position as an economy and as a country, especially in places like the industrial midwest. Mayor pete, thank you so much for joining us.
