PARKERSBURG — “The Miss Firecracker Contest” will be presented by the Actors Guild of Parkersburg at 8 p.m. May 21, 22, 28 and 29, and 2:30 p.m. on May 23 and 30.
Tickets are $15 and are available at the Guild website at www.actors-guild.com.
The comedy is set in 1974 in Brookhaven, Miss., and was written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Beth Henley.
The play is about Carnelle who desperately wants to be named Miss Firecracker at her town’s Fourth of July Carnival. The title is very important to her and this summer’s pageant is her last chance as her age will not allow her to compete again.
