“This project is important to me and seeing what potential and what opportunities for Topeka and Shawnee County exist with the development of this,” said Zach Snethen, principal at HTK Architects, who presented the proposed design at Tuesday night’s Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting.
Snethen touted the park's design and said it was a multi-month process of soliciting community feedback. While he likes the park's design, he said it doesn’t include everything that people requested.
Earlier surveys of the park showed some interest in a fishing pond, but Brian Sturm, a presenter at the meeting, said the design wasn’t practical.
