A Gift for the Season
By Dr. Tod Kline

With all the tragedy, election drama, and stress 2020 has brought to our lives as individuals, communities and a nation, there have been some gifts presented. Education has seen a few, too.
Many of our schools have proven to have little virus spread. The health department would have to agree that a significant percentage of positive cases were due to people bringing the virus in to the schools. Schools have turned out not to be big spreaders as expected.
Parents were able to go to work while their children went to school every day. Each parent had choices for the mode for which their child would learn. If families were concerned to send their child to school, they could opt for virtual learning. At Waynesboro (WASD), we saw an increase in students from virtual to in-person learning as the year progressed.
