A 22-year-old man who suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting outside a Walmart Supercenter more than a week ago has since died from his injuries, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Jonathan Martinez of Allentown. Martinez was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township. An autopsy is scheduled Monday to determine the cause of death while the manner has been ruled as a homicide by the coroner’s office.
Authorities say Edward Joel Rosario-Jimenez, 23, of Whitehall Township opened fire on Friday, Feb. 26 in the parking lot of the Walmart, 2601 MacArthur Road (Route 145) in Whitehall. Responding officers found two victims -- Martinez and 20-year-old Nicolette Law of Allentown -- shortly before 7 p.m. near a parked vehicle with the engine still running, authorities said.
